Square Enix Made One Helpful Change To Kingdom Hearts 3D

Square Enix Made One Helpful Change To Kingdom Hearts 3D

Aside from the English voice acting, Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] is pretty much the same game Japan got in March.

One of the main features in Kingdom Hearts3D is the drop system, which forces players to switch between Sora and Riku when the meter runs out. It’s a mechanic, Co-Director Tai Yasue said, that adds tension to combat. When I spoke to Yasue, I told him about my experience of having the game "Drop" for the first time when I was in the middle of a boss fight. When I switched back to Riku the boss’ life bar refilled, but Riku’s health wasn’t.

Yasue assured me that won’t happen in the North American version. Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] will restore your HP before a boss battle begins. Basically, if you happen to "Drop" out during a boss fight Sora or Riku and the boss will all start the fight again with full health whenever you switch characters. This was a good move by Square Enix since replaying an entire boss fight after losing life from the same fight before the Drop was unnecessarily frustrating. I’ll just imagine Kingdom Hearts Rubicante healed both groups off screen so they can have a fair fight.

Well your the researcher so research :D

At least it will reheal you so you dont have to die to win.

I think it would be better if the boss fight returned exactly where you stoped, with you and the boss with the last HP you had.

I think it goes on as normal, items you use are gone. It'd make no sense. Obviously before the drop you might be on your last bit of hp, and need to restore it to stay in the fight. The items probably get used up like any normal KH game.

so i guess we need to keep track of our drop meter so that we can conserve our items before we drop

i guess preparing before the fight might be important :)

Ya that would be nice I dunno why they didn't do that in the first place.

What, that's so stupid! Why does the boss start with full health again?! Why can't you just keep the same amount of health you have and the boss' health stays the same too?!

tutti frutti. To me that's kind of pointless. On one side I can see that as a challenge, and on another side that being frustrating. I would think that you would be allowed to at least finish the boss fight before being forced to switch between characters. If you're about to finish the enemy with 1 to 3 hits left, and you're force to leave then I see that as frustrating as not being able to finish the fight in one go. I hope that we are able to keep whatever items we had on us at the beginning of the fight to make sure that it stays a fair fight from beginning to end.

Heh Heh Heh, Rubicante healing. Any way, It's good the players hp gets refilled, but a little bad to restart a boss fight.

What, that's so stupid! Why does the boss start with full health again?! Why can't you just keep the same amount of health you have and the boss' health stays the same too?!

Exactly. That's what should happen, but as if you return with full life also, there isn't a real problem, it's just that it isn't so cool.

Even better if you had low health to begin with when you started the boss fight for the first time.

Agreed. Sometimes I wonder what goes through the minds of the guys over at Square when they're developing the game.

tutti frutti. That makes two of us Rob. After learning what the Drop meter is for, it makes me wish that it was set up to be like BBS and CoM/Re:CoM where you just had to focus on one character at a time, and be able to beat a boss in one setting. I understand that developers want to try something new when bringing out a new game for a series, but sometimes leaving stuff the way they are is the best solution. Take the Mario series for example, Nintendo has done their best to leave the adventure games of the series with that same feel, in terms of gameplay, for people to enjoy. Don't know if you play the Dragon Quest series, but from the games I have played, the gameplay is left alone.
