So then, I wanted to tell all of you about my favorite character in Final Fantasy IV: Kain Highwind.

 

He is definitely a very awesome character, and one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters of all time. I really liked how his relationship with Cecil was on Final Fantasy IV. It was an emotional rivalry and a very emotional relationship. I felt bad for him, because he loved Rosa, but he had to keep away because Rosa was in love with Cecil, and Cecil with Rosa. I really love the way his armor looks, it screams epicness. And his voice actor is legendary! Liam O'Brien! The dude gives Kain such a cool and epic voice. He's such a badass. My other favorite characters are:

• Edge
• Tellah
• Palom and Porom
• Golbez (obviously!)

1st : Cécil Harvey. I just loved how he was depicted in the first hours of the games, and how he overcome his past and own darkness... Plus, I trully love his gamelay in Dissidia ! ^^

 

2nd : Kain Highwind. Well, all has been said already. This guy is epic. And moreover in Dissida too !

 

3rd : Golbez. What is a good game, without a good ennemy ? Golbez roxx. *-*

 

4st : The dacing girls at the beginning of the game. I loved theire dance.. *w*

His VA in Dissidia...was like...yeah.

 

 

 

Alsoooo. I love the depth of his character and his role in the game. It's very complex and brings a whole new level to the story line. That whole betrayal aspect is always great IMHO.

Cecil is not only my favorite character in this game, but is among my favorite characters in the series. Out of all the protaganists, Cecil's emotional journey of redemption feels the most sincere. Most of the heroes are in the line of beating the villain because they have to, either by conspiracy of fate or because they're dead if they don't challenge. For Cecil, he's not only in the employ of the villains from the get-go, there is no financial, physical, or pressing need for him to turn his back on Baron, and would it would be far more beneficial if he stayed on. But even with the perks of being Captain of the Red Wings and that he doesn't absolutely need to, Cecil leaves the Empire because it was the right thing to do. He realizes that what he is doing is wrong, and wants to try and atone for his mistakes. He embarks on his quest because he actually believes in a moral code. Considering the large number of amoral antiheroes FF has produced, Cecil is defiantely the most noble and heroic of his compatriots.

 

Also, I love how they story doesn't give him hand outs. Just because he wants to atone doesn't mean he gets a free pass. First, he has to confront all of his sins and be emotionally leveled to the ground before any forgiveness is coming his way. Rydia, the villages he's destroyed, and ultimately looking himself in the mirror and having to take a beating in order to be saved is a fantastic peace of pathos. He can't just ignore his past, he has to face it, in the people he's hurt and the pain he has caused. His dark past is siphoned out of him like snake venom, and only after experiencing emotional turmoil is he forgiven.

 

One of the many things that irritated me about Dissidia is how they made the idea of Cecil flipping back and forth to Light and Dark like a light switch into a good thing. Cecil bleeds and is torn apart to be free of his darkness, and now he can just turn into a Dark Knight whenever?

Of course, this falls apart if you do it the wrong way and just beat your evil clone to death

But yeah, no, you're right, Cecil definitely has one of the more harsh and altruistic paths in FF history. (The only person I can think of who is comparable is Ramza...)

Yes, my other favorite characters are almost the whole cast.

Kain all the way. He's a dragoon, so of course I like him!

Tellah, fo real. Crazy old man with amazing magical powers? Heck yeah!

Palom, because he doesn't change at all during the story, and I love those kinds of characters.

Same goes for Edge.

Kain just barely wins out against Cecil, just barely.

Edward is next, although he's useless in battle.

Then Rydia, Porom, Tellah, Yang, Cid, and then at the VERY END, Rosa. I jut hate her character.
