[SPOILER]...Sora is a failure...

Posted

So how did you guys feel about Sora failing the Mark of Mastery Exam? Personally I was mad. Sora has saved the world more than once, he should have been a master years ago. Aqua beat up some orbs of light, and that made her a Keyblade Master....I think not. http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/sleep.png If anyone deserves to be a Keyblade Master, it's Sora. Sora will always be a Master in my book, lol.

It has more to it than the deeds commited.

The implications I got from Yen Sid's speech at the end was that he had no intention of making both of them keyblade masters. I can't say I was surprised, really, because I couldn't see Sora passing with it being so expected. And I found Sora's reaction to it far more worthy

Of pride than some old man telling him he passed the test when all Aqua and Terra had to do was whack a few balls of light around and fight each other. I can't say I put much credence on the mark of mastery after that.

the orbs weren't important

the battle against Terra was the important point and because Terra used darkness during the fight because he was afraid of losing he wasn't named a master

Eraqus said himself that win or lose wasn't the point, but Terra wanted to win and wasn't able to control his darkness because of this

so it is a bit sad that Sora wasn't named a master because he was about to "die" etc but it was Yen Sid's decision and I think that Riku deserves it because for me

Riku was the hero of the game and not Sora

I'm pretty disappointed and sad about it myself. Don't get me wrong, Riku deserves it and all but I find it awkward now that Sora isn't. After all he's done. Either way-- it makes things a lot more interesting now. Next time we'll all be rooting Sora on.

well, everyone looses someday and to be honest it was about time Sora needed rescuing and failed a small test

I just wish they both passed because yen Sid even said," if you seal the seven sleeping keyholes I will name you both masters" and he didn't. Yen sid has a favorite, thats not cool -.-

The whole point of it was gaining the new power they needed to wake a sleeping heart. And as Sora slept through the entire exam and never realized, I think it's fair that he failed the exam. Riku was able to get the power though so it was fair he passed. I think also Yen Sid did it on pourpose. He understands the rivalry between Sora and Riku and I think he knows if he gave it to Riku, Sora would try that much harder just to be a little better than him and come out stronger!

I am happy for Riku who now feels worthy of the Keyblade, and I think where Sora will be at the beging of KHIII will probably shine light on why Nomura had him fail ;)

when you say it that way its sounds like it was a good plot move, ya I'm happy for Riku :)

I'm REALLY happy Riku passed the MoM exam, but I do feel really bad for Sora! After all he's been through, he still hasn't been able to become a Keyblade Master despite being a Keyblade wielder for so long!

Well as "unplanned" as this game was, I think this is Nomuras baby, and as Sora is the main character for this series, if we're going to have a dissapointung moment for Sora, it's going to lead to an Amazing moment. Nomura knows what he wants with this story ;)

It made it more interesting, but was i the only one who felt that sora was a little pissed about it? Like when he was cheering on riku, it sounded rather fake, like he was jealous but didn't want to show it.

True, sora will have his moment and its gonna be great :D

Terra and Aqua did more than just whack a few orbs, guys. They had their whole lives to train for the exam. In other words hey were taught by a keyblade master. Sora and Riku's exam was a lot tougher cause they had to get the same kind of training in a very short time.(they were self taught wielders).

I think Riku deserved it cause he practically fought most of the bosses, so that way he did a lot more than sora.

Plus sora, plunged into the abyss and fell asleep.

Riku fought Ansem SoD, young Xehanort, creepy red-eyed dude, the ventus nightmare. So that means he did WAY more than Sora did.

I was literally confused during the last world of the game and everything after that.

XDDDD

I couldn't believe Sora was actually asleep the whole time and Riku was in his dreams.

Yea I was a little upset, I mean of course Riku deserved it but still Sora couldn't help the fact that he went to sleep, it was Xeahnorts fault!

Right but Sora didnt get the new power which was the requirement of passing

one other thing i notice how soras actions doomed himself when he could have gotten out.

lets look at it like this. he was stupid enough in chain of memories to keep going deeper into the castle and was clueless to what was happening and kept going in further instead of turning back.and than in 3D we have him reclessly chasing after dreams leading him deeper into the darkness causing his own demise.

i mean sure rikus not perfect either since he had given into the darkness once but he made up for it and had been fighting the organization for over a year while sora did nothing because of his own actions and his recklessness again almost doomed them all. i think him failing was more of a "you need to act smarter" message to him from Yen Sid

The dream eater ending is him going back to take the exam again....

I thought the ending was just him thanking his new friends (aka the Dream Eaters) for all their help and hard work.

Nope, the secret ending say's sora is late aka he when back.

Honestly, I'm glad Riku passed and Sora didn't. While Sora did save the worlds on more than one occasion, he is far to overconfident in his ability. So it stands to reason that that cockiness would come back and kick him in the behind.

It's just a title it means almost nothing the only power keyblade masters get is to technically be immortal.

I felt bad for Sora. Certainly he still has a lot of learning to do, but it feels like he has the most responsibilities but the least recognition. Also, I think that confidence he was showing was mostly because Riku was taking the test with me. Small note about Terra and Aqua's test, in one of the game memo things it said Eraqus would have named both of them Masters immediately but Xehanort insisted they take the Exam and fight each other, with Eraqus creating the darkness that caused Terra to fail.

Even though Sora and Riku were the main characters, KH3D was more about Riku, thus resulting in him becoming a master. I actually like and knew that Nomura would make Riku a master. You see all these main characters getting powers and such because they are the main characters, it's nice to see a main character not get something because he is the main character of KH.

Nomura said it was to add closure to the dream eaters. Sora gained the power from the sleeping worlds, meaning he can go back when he feels like it. He's not taking the test again.
