Why do some people not like those with a happy-go-lucky attitude?

Posted

They just wanna see the good in anything that comes their way. What's wrong with that? It's no reason to find them irritating.

Like, I see these happy, optimistic, lively people get made fun of so much (I being one of them) in school and yet the people who try and act cool and smoke and behave with this "don't give a hoot cause I'm bad like that" attitude every chance they get are worshipped like crazy. Just why?

People do what they want

People pick favorites

welcome to life.

You are who you are.

Live up to be that person.

There is a level of happy-go-lucky attitude.

There is a Normal level, which you have.

And theres a Sora level, which is the worst level possible and unachievable unless you're Sora himself. (jkjk)

They aren't annoying but if something serious is happening, you gotta not be happy all the time, and if u are during those serious moments of course people are going to get irritated.

imo though

my friend is a happy-go-lucky person and when something is serious he combines happy-go-lucky attitude with his seriousness which is wonderful.

i lyke happy-go-lucky ppl though http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/ohmy.png

Well obviously if your father just died, we wouldn't be like "Hey, hey, hey! It'll pass! It's just how life works! Now smile with me!" but just under normal day circumstances I don't see why someone should be mocked because they've spent the day smiling and just loving life.

happy go lucky people, in my experience, fail to see things realistically and then to be of no support when someone is grieving or in a bad mood or having a bad day. that's just my experience. when im sad, i dont want this excited person telling me to look on the bright side. i want someone that will tell me i'll get through it and it's OKAY to feel bad.

im a realist, happy go lucky people tend to be idealists and they annoy me so much :I

im all for trying to enjoy life, but there is a time and place

:'D my friend is kind of like that when someone is sad to make them feel better and it works apparently

but not all the time in srs business

then he tries to help the person on what that person needs help on (like any sort of social problem)

they shouldn't be mocked lmao

if they do that's just stupid in every way

it's like saying "STOP BEING HAPPY! STOP SMILING LIKE GOD"

I only don't like the REALLY bubbly, naive, and hyper happy-go-lucky people. I think they just seem so fake (sorry) and oblivious to the reality of life. I don't make fun of them or pick on them, that's just stupid. My opinion is if you don't like someone, don't be near them and keep your problem to yourself.

I think it may also sometimes be a jealousy thing. I know that I am a rather jaded and cynical person about life, but I remember the times when I could be carefree and just happy about everything in the world. I'd give just about anything to have those days back, and when that sort of personality is around me I get a bit angry and jealous that they can have such a happy disposition about life. Even though they're not, it feels like they're bragging about how blissfully happy they are and it just makes me feel like shit.

I'm with Koko.

In my experience, "happy-go-lucky" people don't tend to be grounded into the same reality as everyone else. Like Winner's Proof said, they want to see the good in everything. It clouds objective judgment.

From experience, I don't know. Most of the people I know are very messed up, and I tend to the opposite end of the spectrum (unpleasantly whiny) myself. The people you mention seem to be what I call "Poseurs", depending on whether or not they're doing it TO be admired, if they aren't then maybe there's a side of them you're not seeing that their friends do.

On the level of fiction. As I remember reading once: "Meaningful conflict is the soul of Drama."

If the protagonist is unfazed by what happens around him, is there any real sort of conflict, or is stuff just happening?

They just wanna see the good in anything that comes their way. What's wrong with that? It's no reason to find them irritating.

Why, because they are unhappy unlike you and I

this, basically.

telling someone that they should be happy and forcing them to "look on the bright side" (when there might not even BE a bright side) isn't going to help at all, and it's actually really insensitive too.

I have plenty of friends who are the lively optimistic type and I have never seen them be made fun of before. It may just be the culture in your school. Every school has a different standards on what makes you cool or not. Like my school shames people who are against homosexuality (thanks in part because of me), yet another high school in the same town is the opposite. You just happen to be in a school that has shitty social standards.

Because people like that think they can help/empathize with people who aren't happy-go-lucky and they really have no idea what the're talking about.

Nobody should be picked on. D: One perspective is that, people are bully's when they are jealous. They wish they could be like that person.

It's true that happy-go-lucky people try to see the best in a bad situation. That's just them trying to help, its their way, you know? It can be helpful for some people. And it could just annoy others. That's why there are all types of people in the world! Everyone is going to have their preference.

this.

Bullying is wrong in every form in which it manifests itself. So yeah, I don't agree with being mean to people who are like this. If they get on my nerves, I just ignore them (usually), but of course not everyone is able to ignore and tolerate things at the same levels.

On a fictional level (ie. Sora), the characteristic depends completely on how it is handled. If it is kept to a certain level, and the character realizes when it is time to be serious, then that's fine and can make a lovable character. Then you can have the characters who just barf rainbows and breathe sunshine who are overly positive in a NORMAL setting, which makes them obnoxious (ie. SORA). They may or may not be able to be serious when the time calls, but they are so annoying any other time it doesn't really matter (ie. you should know who I am gonna put here now).

I feel this way about Tsukino Usagi (aka Sailor Moon) she started as a whiny crybaby happy go lucky bubbly annoying girl, but as the series progressed matured A LOT. Sora is similar, we've been able to see him grow, but both of their innate happiness is charming and endearing.

It's not that I don't like them. I'm just sort of their opposite,, most of the time.

I don't think Sora's obnoxious at all. When it's time to get serious he always does. He doesn't joke around with the Organization or even in KH1 when he had that fight with Donald, or when RIku took his keyblade. From the start of the series Sora was always serious when the situation demanded it.

I like people with happy go lucky attitude and i agree with Winner's Proof Sora was always serious when the situation demanded it. Comparing the attitude of Sora vs Vanille from ffxiii i would go with sora anyday of the week.

Happy people are fine, but the people who seem to be unable to grasp the fact that there are things that you shouldn't smile about are annoying.

Do such people even exist?!
