That combines elements from the Main Series Final Fantasy Video Games from I to XIV and is strictly loyal to the FF Series' Mythos whilst introducing modern elements too know what i mean?

I think that live action films have a lot potential. Unfortunately, not many live action films, aside from American comic book films have been very successful.

That would be pretty sweet but I don't think they can make a movie of Final Fantasy. Based on what I read The Bioshock movie wasn't able to be made because it was too much in the "Fantasy" side.

WHOA!!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE LOGO?!?!?!?!

My responce:

That would be a sweet idea but it won't be the same

Doesn't seem likely. I think it would be a good idea but SE will probably keep SE as a video game.

They've done it before though.

I think that'd be cool but only if they could pull it off right, taking a video game series like Final Fantasy and turning it into a live action movie seems like it would be either hit or miss. And sadly if its miss, then the chances of ruining FF's image is high.

The fact of the matter is, Square Enix really wants to make movies

But they suck at it

So they make RPGs

If they've failed spectacularly with two CGI movies, the depths a live action one would sink to are unfathomable

There is not enough hair gel in the world for a live action Final Fantasy film.

Very valid point. ;)

But on a more serious note, it'd be great to see a live action FF film. It'd be interesting if they did a Dissidia-type film, including many favorites from previous Final Fantasy games. I for one would love to see something done on Final Fantasy VI, though if anything we'd likely get a film on either XIII or another on VII.

Unfortunately there's not a true to mesh all those elements together, mostly because the settings can vary from medieval to futuristic. I find the one that would be the simplest to make into a movie would be the first one, mostly because all of the other ones have such an in depth and intensive story line the movie would either have to have multiple parts, or be reeeeally long.

I think the game that would make the best movie would be FFII. The story itself seems like a movie with all the betrayal and war and death.

However; what I truly want to see is the opera from VI as an actual opera. I've seen performed at the Distant Worlds concert, but I'd love to see it more detailed and fleshed out. That'd be awesome ~.~

I think in order to do the games any justice, the road to go would be to make a mini series instead of a movie. That way you could get more content in.

As a film student, I've pondered how one would go about constructing an FF movie. The thing is that you would have to be brave enough to cut things. It sounds easy enough, but the thing is, everytime you cut something, you're taking out a piece of a story that someone somewhere enjoyed. So in order to make this film's story tighter and more concise, you would have to flip off a great deal of the prospective fanbase. Now, sidequests here and there are obvious, but then you get down to the tough choices. For instance, in VII, I would cut swathes out of that game. Vincent and Yuffie are a definate no, and I personally would even consider cutting Cait Sith, given that his character arc is so small. The foray into Barrett's home town is gone, and so is the trip to the Golden Tower. And that's only the tip of the iceberg.

I can talk blithely about cutting things out of VII, of course, but at the same time, to see the Opera scene cut out of VI would break my heart. Yet I can see it being done, because it can be thought of as not 100% necessary. The trick is to deciding what you can cut without completely offending your fanbase, while still knowing that you need to cut things in order to make a film possible.

How else would they meet up with Setzer and get the Airship if they cut the opera scene out? I would cut out the battle with Orthos, but I don't think you can cut the entire thing.

I can see why Vincent and Yuffie would need removed, though I think you may have more difficultly removing Cait Sith. A lot of events are tangled around that idiotic puppet, unless another excuse was made for said events to occur, I suppose.

Ditto what you said on the opera scene; it was probably my favorite in the entire game.

I think the Opera is a vital scene for Celes' character, however. Considering she is the main character for the second half of the game, at least as far as I'm concerned (It certainly isn't Terra at that point)

It's a very pivotal moment for her, and it helps establish her relationship with Locke

Honestly, I think VI would be relatively easy to make into a movie

VII is difficult because the middle drags out for so long. I honestly think entirely new subplots would be the most effective way of telling the story of the game. Blend Barret's visit to his hometown with his showdown with what'shisface. Meet Vincent as a side effect of visiting Nibelheim, have a subplot with missing materia that climaxes with Yuffie arriving

One thing's for sure, no matter what FF you make into a movie, you couldn't waste a single minute. The movie would have to be packed with very efficient content, 100% of the time, but be well written enough to not overload a viewer, and simple and clear enough for a non-fan to understand

Oh dear Lord, I hope not. Most live action films based on anime or manga are usually cheap, half-***ed flicks that just totally botch everything. Examples: The Death Note movies, the Mario Movie, Dragonball Evolution.

Too late. There are two FF movies, never mind a bevy of OVAs

I can imagine a great movie with a simple but interesting plot, with charismatic characters, and incredible fights with magic and summons,

but let's face it, Square-Enix sucks making movies.

I hope it never happens.
