GameStop is set to open 80 GameStop Kids stores. As announced via the company’sofficial site, the stores feature “something for the kid in all of us,” including “an assortment of this holiday's most desired video games and accessories, game licensed products, popular toy brands and collectibles.”

The first store will open today in Grapevine, Texas, with other locations set to open throughout November. Products shown on GameStop’s site include toys and accessories related to Angry Birds, Skylanders, Minecraft, Pac-Man, Mario, Lego and many more. For now, only U.S. locations have been announced.

Head over to GameStop’s site for a full list of locations and a full list of GameStop Kids products.

So, what are your thoughts on this matter? Honestly, I have to say that this might be a good idea. I've seen a lt of kids buy games that are not for their age like CoD, Battlefield, Halo, and (believe it or not) Grand Theft Auto. SO this could be a good way for kids to buy games their age (though I have no problem seeing kids buy games a little out of their age). Just my personal opinion. I mean, I played violent games when I was a kid like a few grand Theft auto games and a few other shooters that i can't remember.

Lol I hope you have fun in kiddy land when it opens ;P.

It looks pretty neat. But why put one in Peoria? Good thing I have a cousin that lives there.

I will, don't you worry

No. I do not approve. Kids need their CoD and GTA.

Great move. Keep the tykes outta the big kid stuff....

"Insert joke about 2nd-hand toy sales here."

The more I think about it the more I notice a distressing similarity between them and Toys-R-Us. (Quickly dominated a specialist market, spin-off store specially marketed for younger age-group, etc.) Hmm.

Nintendo for one and CoD, AC for the other?

Cool, at least people get moar JABS!!!

*looks at kid sign*.....Finally!! People who understand me!!! :DDD Even though I'm way past that age....they understand me!!!! X3

Thats weird? Why not just have those in their regular stores? Or build more regular stores that are bigger?

theres only one in illinois? what and its in peoria? noooo.......

I think it's because they're trying to create a specialty store for kids by offering games with appropriate ratings along with collectibles, et cetera. I partly agree and think it's kind of surprising that they're taking it so far as to create a specialty store, but personally I think it'd be kind of neat to check out.

I don't like this. Children's games are for everyone, hence the rating. Now I won't be able to pick up the latest Mario game without feeling really awkward. Also, it's the parent's responsibility to determine what they deem appropriate for their children to play. My parents had some fairly loose rules and I can safely say, running a hooker over with a garbage truck will not effect you negatively as a child.

Which is my point. If anything, Grand Theft Auto would teach kids what not to do. If you do, in fact, run a hooker over with a garbage truck, you'll get some cops chasing you, and I'm sure kids don't want that.

But...ToysRUs has all that .-.

IF THEY PUT firetruckING POKEMON IN A KID'S GAMESTOP I WILL RAGE WAR UPON THE STORES BECAUSE DAMN IT WE OLDER PEOPLE LOVE OUR POKEMON

Hmm....I wouldn't mind this happening

But Toys R Us isn't owned by Gamestop

Maybe Gamestop's trying to compete with Toys R Us, especially with the holiday season approaching? Who knows what they're thinking really, *shrugs*. Still, I'm all for cool new stores to explore. As for those not wanting to pop up in a store made specifically for "kids," I wouldn't worry too much; my guess is there'll be plenty of adults there to make everyone feel comfortable. I mean, I think almost a third of Mario gamers are actually adults. I know I am. ;)

Welp. Omega's pissed.

No don't like. Because Pokemon and Mario are for all ages. Same with Sonic, Kirby, Yoshi and Zelda. Even KH.

There's going to be a bunch of odd teens and young adults picking up those games and it's going to be so awkward for them.

Welp. Omega's pissed.

Cheers Omega for always being awesome.

I guess .-. I do see how Gamestop came up with this idea I mean after all it is like the biggest video game retailer and they do come with great pre-order offers and such :D
