And probably 10+ more days to go. It SUCKS living in New york right now. Nobody has power. We have no hot water, we have to light candles at night & walk around with flashlights, it's freezing, we can't flush the toilet anymore because the water pressure is down, and I just want to take a shower. Though I am very grateful we have a generator (so our food doesn't go bad in the fridge, and we can make coffee at least) and our house isn't flooded, unlike a lot of our family & friends who have to deal with the insurance company now. Halloween here was cancelled. Most of the people we know didn't even realize it was Halloween. At least we got 2-3 neighborhood kids come to our door (before dark obviously since there aren't any streetlights.) It must really suck for little kids during this time, I mean if I were like 10 and Halloween was cancelled, I'd be so lost. My f*king heart breaks for them. On top of that so many people died this week just because of falling trees. FALLING F*KING TREES. That's a really sh*tty way to die, I feel so sorry for those families.

Anyway, I'm able to post this because I'm using the family laptop while it's being charged by the generator. At least we have something. I really hope it doesn't take 10 days to get our power on.

tl;dr HAVING NO POWER SUCKS BALLS

Im at northern NYC, Queens and I still have power thankfully even tho the light flickered for 4 times ;n;

I feel really bad for you, I know it sucks but try to survive for some time more.

Were you near Zone A or even Zone B?

50 people died in USA, mostly by trees...and I believe you are living in Southern Manhattan since it has a blackout.

The transformers exploded there so thus the power had to go out, since there was flooding there as well.

Shit ton of other places also have blackouts, so I wish you the best. Since it's not flooded and if you are gonna get bored, I suggest you take a break and go outside? It'll help if ur bored out of ur mind, that's what ill do xD

Godspeed.

I went at least more than half a day without power in my house, and it SUCKED...I pray you can last up to 10 days.

Also, sucks for the kiddies on Halloween. :( Bless their little hearts.

Yeah, man, I feel you. I would rather myself going through that than them, even though I'd die without my video games. :'(

Naw we're not in Manhattan we're in Suffolk on long island, where I think basically 9/10 people are out. But my aunt (I live with her) works in Manhattan and she hasn't been able to get to work all week because all the trains are down. That's another thing I feel really horrible about. I'm glad she has a nice boss.

Aw, man. That just sucks. D8

Thank goodness you have a generator, though. That's good to hear! :) My prayers go to those who have lost their lives.

Honestly, I'd rather be there in New York than on the west :(

The schools here are shut down the whole week and being reopened on Monday, and limited transit is starting to come back up tomorrow at 6 AM. But thats just some, a lot of the subways are still gonna be closed.

Ahhh Long Island, yeah it got hit hard.

NYC got hit really hard tho.

100 houses were burned down (idk the cause) by an inferno.

A flood hit that area as well and other areas in Queens, and Manhattan and Brooklyn got flooded as well. Same goes for Staten Island.

Subways got flooded badly, like up to the roof of the subways. Also the hospitals had to evacuate since it began flooding.

Trees were down everywhere and it was horrible and crane partially collapsed from a hotel, and is just dangling there.

Luckily for me, all we got were some trees falling and wind gusts.

That's all, nothing major, which Im happy since it would have been a catastrophe but also sad since it was boring. xD

Weird thing is, my power's back on. But then it switches back off, then on, then off, and has been doing that for a while. Like, it stays on for a few hours, and then is dark for about 20 minutes. It's weird as heck.

Stay safe you guys. Do whatever you can to keep yourself occupied for the time being. Help those in need if you can.

I feel so guilty for living in the West Coast. Hope everything is okay with you guys in the East and hope power is restored quickly. It's not fun nor enjoyable without power. We had a power outage for several hours around this time of year last year.

Hope everything goes according to plan and everything will be restored and repaired soon.

Restoring power outages will take a week or more. For NYC its gonna take a while, idk about Long Island.

If it was one area, then sure it'll take a day since a lot more states will send their rescue teams to that area, but if its a widespread outage then states will take care of their own problems other than go rescue other states.

I never celebrated halloween, neither my friends. Is not that common celebrate it here in my city.

Good luck there guys!

I live in a country where there's power outs all the time. Just chill it's not that bad. Read a book. Think and plan stuff. Do something else >_>

Keeping everyone in my prayers

What we expect naturally here.

Praying for everyone there~

Hey guys, just an update, its currently day 5 and still no word on when were getting our power back. The only gas station in the area with a generator ran out of gas, so we only have enough gas for our generator for tomorrow and that's it. Also people are saying it might be in the 30's in NY this weekend ...were already freezing our asses off as it is
