Monty Oum, the creator of Dead Fantasy is creating a new show, called RWBY {Red White Black Yellow} so far, there is a trailer which showcase what I believe is Red, a girl based off of Little Red Riding hood. It's incredibly badass, and the soundtrack so far sounds amazing!

But the biggest argument about RWBY is how it ISN'T an anime, it's an online show INSPIRED by anime.

Well Monty and Miles both said something about making a rival team of RWBY so I'm guessing it's gonna be those four we see in the intro so yeah.

It's like Avatar the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra; they used the same style as an anime but it was created in the western hemisphere, which means it can't be an "official" anime.

QUOTA!! FUUUUUYeah, it's anime inspired American animation.  If anything they should create a new name for these cross hatched animations/drawings like the manga inspired comics from Dark Horse, cause technically manga is only Japanese.

Well, that's kind of a bad analogy.  Anime is specifically animation that's made by Japanese, whereas pizza is "a dish of Italian origin," meaning it's where it hails from, but not limited to.  

 

In all honesty, I wouldn't call RWBY anime.  It has both 2D and 3D aspects that takes influences from anime and cartoon.  When I come up with a clever name for it or when anyone does and I find out, I'll come back to you.

Technically, you could consider ATLAB Korra, and this American Anime, which is heavily influenced by the Japanese counterpart, but has it's own touches.

Also, the creator can say it's whatever genré he wants, we may not agree, but it's a web series that we technically are not part of. He can do whatever the frig he wants with it.
