Sword Art Online General Discussion

Posted

Since I'm a fan of RPG games and anime and since it is the most awaited anime of the summers, I decided to start watching it, and it exceeded my expectation, and now I ask, who else besides me on this site has been watching it and what do you think of it?

It's great that it's getting dub, but I don't like to watch dubber anime...ever

  • 1 month later...

Attention fellow SAO fans, the English dub for SAO is airing on Toonami next week! It's going to be on after Soul Eater! Get ready, everyone! Time to enter Aincrad once again! :D

EDIT: Here's the promo for anyone who's interested!

Edited by VIIIAxel

I got excited for the SAO dub when I read Cherami Leigh was voicing Asuna.

As one of my favorite Dub VA's, I'm gonna watch the series ASAP...but my anime to watch list is so atrocious...Q.Q

Wait did someone say Aniplex? Aaah

I watched their Madoka dub and it was.... okay, but

Their marketing is terrible

A Blu-ray of like FOUR Madoka episodes is like $40+

Hope this price isn't as bad >.>

$90 for each Blu-Ray Limited Edition, $40 for the regular DVD's. It is as bad, but aw well. xD

In sword art online, while kirito was in soa instead of alfheim, someone told sugu that kirito was her first cousin instead of her brother. Now when she's around him her face gets red

She admits her feelings for him later on, soo... yeah. In Japan, it's okay for cousins to date. That's why you have crap like NejiHina popping up. Kirito and Sugu are just another example.

Yes, she has the hots for him.

Yeah shes got a thing for me but unfortunately I'm already with asuna so things might get awkward

... what kind of a question is this... I thought everyone liked kirito :P

*remembers watching the anime* Why was this needed...why oh why...I think that says it all.

Yeah, but later she accepts she'll never have Kirito and also becomes friends with Asuna.  It's strange to us but acceptable in some Asian countries.  I had a friend growing up who was arranged to marry her cousin, though she rebelled against her parents when she got older so she got herself out of it.

I never really liked that arc because of that.  That romance plot felt so cliche.  The Gungale online arc is the best outside of SAO (in the novels).

I assume you didnt finish the show.

Well, since episode 1 just aired on Toonami, what did those of you who saw it think of it? (Please no blind bashing, AKA saying "IT WAS CRAP" without even having seen it). I really liked it. It had a lot more comedy and gamer-talk than the Japanese version, which made it more relate-able. The dubbed voices are also absolutely amazing in my opinion. :D

I thought it was mind blowing. I never thought there was an anime that is about mmorpg. but this one can kill!

I feel excited about the show, but that keynote at the end of the show freaked me out.

im not sure if im reading right, but is this the first time SAO is dubbed in english?

There's actually another franchise called .Hack/// which takes place in MMORPGs too, it doesn't have the death threat though

Also, yep, this is the first time the dub has ever been aired. I think the first DVD and Blu-Ray volume has been out for a month or so though.

okay, and does the anime follow the manga faithfully, or does it veer off in the middle like what soul eater did?I will watch the show no matter what, but im just curious.

I stayed up until 1 AM in the morning just to watch the first episode of the English SAO dub being aired. All of my expectations were met, and I now remember why I love SAO so much. Everything. Just everything about it is good great amazing perfect FABULOUSLY BEYOND AMAZING! :D

SAO actually started as  a light novel, which the manga and anime are both based off of. The anime follows them well as far as I know (I didn't like the manga, and I can't afford the novels...) There are a few "filler" episodes which expand the story more, which were really well done in my opinion. SAO ends off in the middle of the LN though, and we have yet to see if they plan to continue it sadly.

So, we're getting a recap special of the first two arcs of SAO... I REALLY hope this is their way of kicking off Gungale Online! :D It's the perfect way to do it, since it's been almost a year now since the series first aired in Japan. I'm sure a recap would be accepted by people before they watch GGO. It also has bonus content... Please don't be Chapter 16.5
