nobody deserves an award for abusing a child. that's just messed up

Wow. Just no

lol a smartly written article of satire.

Not to entirely defend this guy, but did any of you actually read the link in the fox contributor's post? Because to me, it doesn't sound fully like assault. It sounds like a kid got spanked with a belt--something really not that out of the question. My grandpa would tell us stories of himself as a kid deserving when he'd get spanked with a belt tons and tons of times because of something he did wrong, and how it made him shape up and be a better person. We don't know how badly this kid was hurt--a lot of us were spanked as kids. Remember how it hurt then but then later you were like, oh, I kind of deserved that man I shouldn't have done that. We weren't ever seriously hurt---it only hurt while it happened and maybe a little bit after. That's not abuse. If this kid's going to have scars and was in excessive pain, that's something different. But if he was just disciplined? Well then there's no law against that. To be honest, we don't know enough about this to pass judgment on this guy.

True but then again, who is anyone to judge anything?

Fair enough. I just think we don't have enough facts to make an informed opinion. The article really doesn't tell us enough, and it's obviously biased.

There's nothing Biased or 'right' the article is fabricated for pure satire, they stretched the truth and made a parody of it for the 'poking fun' of fox, child abuse, and conservatives.

Don't take an article seriously when they twist everything around a serious matter.

Call it a 'troll'? not really satire is to poke fun of everyone and not to just a specific target that catches the bait. It's to make people think of the world we live in and how much irony is engulfed in politics/media/ and the american lifestyle. it's like showing the truth in a funny sometimes weird kind of way.

Examples of satiric media:

-The Colbert report.

-The daily show

-The onion

-Landover Baptist (It's not TV but a fictional church made for satire)

and that website http://www.addictinginfo.org is just another medium of satire.

Not all the facts are entirely wrong. And it's technically biased if the author presents a point of view instead of just reporting. I know this stuff isn't always straight fact, but you at least get the gist of things.

there is no 'gist' it's satire. >_>

The way I see it

Fox news is just a bunch of people who don't care about anyone but themselves.

Fox News pokes fun at itself.  Knowing that the person in question is from Fox is enough information for me to believe it.

Follow the link and check actual news sources. The story is real. :/ I paid more attention to the article quoted though within the linked article.

I don't even know what's going on. When satire is mentioned my brain just assumes upper-level trolls are screwing with me and shuts off. If it's real it's bad, if it's meant to be satire "Haha" as it were.

That was wrong.

Police reported that videotape of the beating showed the clerk striking the 8 year old 25 times. The cause of such beating? The child threw a cookie at the employee, reportedly for making fun of the child.

Just what the firetruck. And the lady deserves a medal? Manners outside matter, but who in their right senses would first make fun of a child then go up and lash him?

I partially agree with your point, but i think it's essential to know that you could also be partially wrong. There's "beating up your kids to make sure they don't do bad things" again and then there's" beating the living daylights out of them"Read what shera quoted. That doesn't look like a proper punishment( i would know, i grew up being beaten xD [but not severely though])      Also, the reason this Fox News guy's comment on the story deserves to be bashed is because hitting a child, whether for good or bad reason is not something to celebrate about.

I agree, it does sound like it's in excess. But I still feel like we--who are merely outside observers who read an article--don't know enough about exactly what happened. It always takes a while for people to get their story straight--hell, we didn't even know there were two rather than one person injured at Sandy Hook until the next Monday (or it wasn't officially confirmed, at least)

The part where the child was actually hit is a matter of opinion. Like I said (and you can obviously relate) a lot of us grew up with physical punishment. We know our parents still love us and that we deserved it. Some parents won't even raise their voice toward their kid. I think it's okay in some cases (as long as obviously the child is not in excessive pain, scarred, etc) as long as there is justifiable cause (I used to backsass a lot when I was little, which I why I would always get spanked--an example of justifiable cause). But like I said, this part is just an opinion.

Someone Trying To Start Some Crap To Make Basically The Only Conservative News Media In The World Look Bad.. I Never Would Have Seen This Coming
