So it begins.

 

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

 

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

 

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

 

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

 

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

 

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

 

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

 

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

 

...the game has begun."

Neisan could hear the change in Thomas's voice as he spoke into their earpieces, probably for the last time. He wasn't Xi anymore, that was for sure. He had changed. Neisan knew then what he had to do. He tossed the clicker behind him, tore out his earpiece, and walked over to the waiting plane. He wouldn't give Thomas mercy, but he would give him a chance. Then he noticed the person still crying over the body. Neisan walked over to him. "We need to go. She would have wanted you to keep living, no matter what. Come with me now." He put a gentle hand on the man's shoulder.

"Ya.. " He responded to the guys. A few more tears slid down as he a blinked a couple times. "Thank you, guys.."

 

He knelt down one more time and picked up the knife. He didn't know why, but he was gonna keep it.

 

"Goodbye Joshua.. Karu.. " He brushed the hair from Rasiel's face. He smiled as he got a good look at her face for the last time.

 

"Goodbye, Rasiel"

 

He stood up and took in a deep breath. His tears had finally subsided for now.

 

"Let's go" He said solidly. He wiped his eyes and turned to Locke and Neisen.

 

"Thank you" He said to both of them "I'm Xander" He said to Neisen

"Alright then, Let´s go" Locke said while walking in the corridor of the airstrip, reaching the airplane´s entrance, it was like a private jet... so in theory it would be faster... Locke could feel freedon.. .freedom of the island... yet still.. the nolstalgia began to appear inside him....

"It would end soon... " He said as he looked to Yumi and Fulmen "What are you waiting for? C´mon.. If Thomas was serious about it, we have not much time left!" he said.

Fulmen looked away. Rasiel was dead. He didn't know her all too well, but Fulmen felt the stabbing pain and loss; the feeling like he lost a friend. It hurt, it hurt a lot, but he had to persevere. If he faltered now, the sadness would only continue.

Fulmen looked to Yumi, and quietly walked over to her. "It's..over..I think." He said to her, giving her a concerned look. Could it really be over, just like that? Was the Experiment finally over with? How could they reinsert themselves into society? But more importantly, was Fulmen's love for Yumi. Would that continue?

These were all questions that burned inside his mind, making him want to collapse from the sudden stress. But he didn't. This wasn't over until they left. "Let's..get on the plane.." He mumured.

Neisan got up and headed over to the plane, walking with Xander. "My name is Neisan. I'm a technological, biological, and chemical genius. And I'm no better than any other person, because I'm imperfect. What about you?"

Sylar felt a feeling going over his body. Something had changed on the island. Rasiel had killed herself. He looked to Sikota as they were both being led by death into the underworld. "This is your fault. I could have saved her! But no, you had to go and take us away." He spat at Sikota. He was frustrated. Sylar was many bad things, but he kept his word. Joshua was dead again, hence, their deal was back up. He had sworn to protect Rasiel and Xander whenever possible. Now one was dead. He swore under his breath.

Ember looked in sadness as Thomas left them for good. It was then she realized something else was going on. Ember turned to see a younger girl stab herself with a knife, she gasped with surprise. They were so close to leaving here and getting home, but she had still taken her own life. Ember didn't know her at all, but still the familiar feeling of losing a comrade stung. She wiped a small tear off her cheek. She walked calmly, brushing past the boy who was obviously closest to the girl. "I've got this." She whispered in his ear. Ember continued forward, and knelt to the ground next to the body. She placed her hands on the dirt, and evaporated it, creating a grave. Ember turned to Lupus, "Little help here?" She pleaded. Lupus nodded reverently and walked to the body, summoning the strength of a gorilla, and picking the corpse up. She placed the body carefully in the grave, before Ember replaced the dirt. She focused a bit longer, and a gravestone popped into existence. Lupus nodded to Ember, and they both walked to the plane.

Ren nodded in understanding as Thomas disappeared into the ground. Finally, the mastermind of it all understood their point of view. It was right after this that a girl from the other group stabbed herself. Ren gasped, his breath catching. He hated death, and no matter how much he experienced it, that fact would never change. But there was nothing he could do. Once again he cursed his power. It never seemed enough on this island. So he looked to Tsuna and Neisan, the last two of his original group. He gripped his sword as tear dropped off his face. "It's over I guess." He said, a very small smile creeping onto his face. "Something tells me Sikota isn't coming back. Once and for all. We've been through a lot, but we need to get off this island. So," he continued, plunging the wingblade into the ground. "Thanks... friend." He whispered looking to the stars, before looking back to Tsuna and Neisan. "Let's go." Ren finished, walking up and onto the plane.

Yumi took Fulmen's hand."Yes,let us go..before something starts to happen." She started to pull him along with her. 

"Fulmen,there's a lot I have to tell you..about me..a lot." She gave him another tug. 

"So,let's go..before we're left behind." She said.

. He stopped and turned to their direction when Ember whispered in his ear, not yet answering Neisen. The joy Xander felt to see the girls he didn't even know bury Rasiel, was inexplicable.

 

"Thank you." He said smiling, as a tear slid down his cheek.

 

"I can.. move things with my mind" He was still looking at Rasiel's grave as he said this. But he turned back to Neisen. "And I'm human.. just like you"

Neisan smiled at Xander. The lad understood what had taken Neisan years to figure out. "Always remember that, and protect your humanity above everything. It is so important, and yet so easy to lose." A great sorrow pervaded Neisan's eyes. "Just like a loved one."

The first reactor ignited without warning. The explosion rocked a far off part of the island. There were plenty more to come.

 

"You need to move. You all have to go now." Xi's words were slightly anxious. "Move it. Don't be trapped here."

 

The second reactor exploded, and fiery rubble flew into the tree line. A fire seemed to ignite parts of the forest.

 

"There's not much time..."

"I guess...we can discuss things, then." Fulmen said, a worried smile appearing. The island was blowing itself apart. He didn't want to die--not here. He was so close to living; they all were. Fulmen wanted to see his family again, and most especially wanted to continue with Yumi.

"Everyone....get on the plane!" Fulmen said, tugging Yumi a bit harder as he rushed to the plane, dashing up and into the belly of the steel plane, waiting for the rest to join him...and finally escape the hell that was the Experiment.

Locke was near the entrance of the plane just when the first explosion happened. 

"What the!!!"

"You need to move. You all have to go now." Xi's words were slightly anxious. "Move it. Don't be trapped here."

"Thomas!!" Locke shouted as he looked around trying to find the sourse.... but...

[so this... this is your solution?]

Then another explosion took place, anyone could feel the heat of the fire getting close... 

"There's not much time..."

".... Fine.... Then it´s our cue for leave"

Said this Locke entered inside the plane. Fulmen has entered before him, so now it was time to leave the island... once for all

"That was a nuclear explosion. We need to leave, and fast." Neisan tugged Xander into the plane with him. "Thomas. Why would he blow himself up? I had hoped we could convince him to keep living."

Xander followed Neisen's lead into the plane. He joined the others there. He stole one last glance at the field.. Such an important place. It needed a name to Xander.

After that thought, he went deeper into the plane. Inside the plane he saw..

an array of comfortable seating, of tables and couches. The entire area looked like a classic private jet, entirely new-looking. Upon the group stepping inside, the engines suddenly roared to life, priming for takeoff.

"Fully...I have a lot to tell you." Yumi sat down.

"Sit next to me." She said.

The plane door closed and began to move down the airstrip. The sun was beginning to come up now, shedding the island of the darkness that had thus far cloaked it.It picked up speed, and then the on-board computer began to pull up, and the jet took to the air. It cruised once around the island, which was now self-destructing at a quickening pace.

 

All that had happened. Death. Life. Sacrifice and survival. Loss and love. It had been one long and arduous journey. Now it was ending. Now the lessons, the pain, the growth they had gained during their time would follow them into the next stage of their life. But their life was moving on. The plane began to move towards the horizon. It was unknown where these people would go, who they would be, the people they would come to be close with. That was up to them, though. Now they had the chance.

 

The island was now in a mix of fire and ruin, and falling apart at a quick rate. In an underground bunker area, Thomas began to speak.

 

One last transmission came through the remaining earpieces. The Experiment ended as it began.

 

"I was your villain here. I know that. I was... wrong. You didn't need an experiment to prove who you were as people, what you were capable of. Maybe... maybe now that you are finally leaving this island, maybe you can prove that to yourself. To yourself and to those you care about. If you find someone you love... protect them, be with them, let them know how much they mean. There's... so little time for that. But now you get a chance, a chance I perhaps almost stole from you. A chance to be whoever you want to be. Regardless of supernatural abilities, you are powerful people in just being who you are, in just being able to survive this, in just being able to stick together. I think in doing this I wanted to know that was still possible; that people could still survive catastrophe and move on. It was something I couldn't do. A new dawn's coming. I think I finally see that. Whatever you do, make tomorrow something worth living in. For you, for everyone you know and love. "

 

"This is Xi....  this is Thomas, signing off. Hopefully your next test in life will be a bit easier and far more fulfilling than the ones I've shown you. Good luck... and I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything..."

 

Thomas stood up, his entire control center rocked with explosions around the island. He grabbed his coat, and from the pocket pulled a picture of a boy who looked like him. He smiled, put on his coat, and walked away from the self-destructing control setup.

 

As the jet continued to fly out to the ocean, and the island behind it seemed to collapse upon itself. Everything there was now destroyed. All that remained was the memories of the people who had been there, and the care they had for everyone else who had been there. The jet flew away from the beach, the airstrip, the jungle, where they had all first awoken. It flew to a new and unknown future, of great powers and great people. It was up to those on the plane what that future would be defined by.

 

The Experiment was over. The next section of their lives had only just begun.

A man of about 30 years of age was standing in front of the BBQ pit in his enclosed back yard. He was grilling up some patties for the party. All his friends had been invited

 

As he flipped a patty, a small girl burst through the back door of the house crying. She ran up to the man and he lifted her up and held her close.

 

"What's wrong??" He asked the little girl with a concerned voice just as a 28 year-old woman walked out of the same door, holding a young boy's hand. The boy had a small, wrapped box in his other arm

 

"What happened this time, Sky??" He sighed, but smiling a little. The little girl's crying quieted when she saw the 2. She was staring at the box

 

"Big brother decided to give her the gift early.. " The woman replied "But then he decided it would be best if she waited after all, so he took it from her"

 

"Ok" He said simply putting the girl down. "Hey.. you can go ahead and give her the gift." He said to the boy. motioning for him to come. The boy let go of his mother's hand and walked over to the girl with the gift in his hands outstretched. A huge smile appeared on the girl's face. All sign of her previous turmoil had vanished as she excitedly grabbed the gift. But she was unable to hold it, and it fell to the ground. Without hesitating, the girl dropped to her knees and started to try and rip the paper. Seeing she was unable to complete the task alone, the boy dropped down as well, and together they tore back the paper. Revealing a fairly small. plain brown box with the lid taped down.

 

"Oh, let me get a knife.." The woman started almost turning to the door

 

"It's alright. I got it" The man said as he pulled out an old, small knife from his pocket. He picked up the box and slit the tape on the sides and put it back on the ground in front of the girl. She knocked of the lid excitedly, revealing a small, pink, stuffed bunny.

 

"Oooh" The woman exclaimed, "That's such a sweet gift for your sister" She walked over to the kids. The girl picked it up out of the box and pulled off the wrapping tissue. She looked at the stuffed animal for a moment smiling. "Why don't you give your brother a hug??" She asked, the girl looked at the women, and then scurried over to give her brother a big hug. "She loves it" She said to the man as she got closer to him

 

"Karu picked it out" He replied.

 

"You always say that" She said smiling as she gave her husband a small kiss. She walked back to towards the kids. She glanced at her watch and was slightly startled. "Xander, it's almost time for the guests to start arriving!!"

 

"Woah, you're right I better finish up the burgers quick" He said as he started walking back to the pit. He was stopped by the little girl, she had excitedly run out in front of him, both hands raised to show him her new bunny. "It's beautiful!!" He couldn't help but smile at the little girl. "Just like you" He added as he pointed at her. She giggled and then ran off to play with her brother. As he walked he stared at them thoughtfully

 

[i wonder who will come; Fulmen?? Yumi?? Locke?? Neisen?? Ember?? Lupus?? Ren??.. I sent invitations but.. who knows] He thought as he reached the grill

 

"Either way.." He started to himself as he looked at his daughter's smiling face.

 

"Happy Birthday.. Rasiel"

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

End Xander's Story

A rushing of air, the faint sound of jets. Then a blur of speed and sound as something touched down in the far corner of the yard. The come thing crouched there as the jets protruding from it cooled down. Light dappling through the trees glanced off the burnished coppery metal. It stood, the jets retracting into slots in the back and legs. A strange thing of metal stood before Xander and his family, humanoid in shape. The head split around the face, revealing plain features and black hair turning grey in patches. "Sorry about the grass. I couldn't turn my jets down mid-flight." Neisan stepped forward until he was directly in front of Xander. He spoke quietly, a message meant only for the one he dragged away from a corpse into an automated airplane: "I'm glad to see you're still going."

The small and pleasant breeze around the yard gradually increased, the winds picking up until a man and a woman could be seen in the air. The man with paling but still evident red hair let go of the woman as they neared the ground. The woman, with shining black hair and a very worn leather jacket fell to the ground and landed on her feet. She quickly turned to the man and put her hands on her hips as he landed with a smile on his face.

"I thought I told you not to drop me anymore Ren!" The woman yelled. Ren, his eyes alight with laughter, began to speak while walking towards her.

"Come on Em, you know I'm losing my strength daily," Ember looked to Ren, her expression still angry, but the anger breaking down under his good naturedness.

"Just know you're dropping two people now." She said with a huff. Ren laughed, and placed a hand on Ember's stomach.

"How could I forget?" His smile was golden, and gently he kissed Ember. The kiss was light, but it was still golden for it's participant's. "I love you." He whispered under his breath, both of them now smiling.

"You better. I am having your child after all." Ember retorted. Lupus, with her silver hair turning slightly less shiny, landed right behind Ren and Ember, smiling herself.

"Either you two lovebirds go get a room, or you join the party." Lupus said grinning, pushing Ren and Ember slightly forward before all three willingly walked forward to where Xander and Neisan were already situated.

Marriage. It was a thought that had been going on in Fulmen's mind for years. It had been years, in fact, since he had married Yumi. He smiled at her, looking to her happily as he parked the car they both sat in--while their daughter sat in the back seat, asleep . Sydney. Only a few years old, she had traits similar to both her parents. Fulmen's green-ish hair and eyes, but held the looks of her mother.

"Here we are." Fulmen said, smiling to Yumi. "Xander's home." He yawned. It had been a long trip, but it was worth it.

 

To think, years ago, they were all just teenagers on an island, with only a diabolical mastermind to 'guide' them. Fulmen, occasionally, would relieve freezes and panic attacks...but they were few and far between.

"I love you." Fulmen whispered, kissing Yumi on the cheek as he exited the car. A bright day, it was, perfect for a reunion. "You ready?" He asked, looking back into the car - a black, basic car. Slightly expensive, but nothing exorbitant.

 

Fulmen smiled happily at it all. It was all so peaceful, now. It was hard to believe that he had almost died.

 

But with the few who had lived -and remembrance to those who didn't- would surely live on and forget it all. Together.

 

(I did talk to Sora about this sentimental post, so don't start thinking I was controlling her or anything~)

Yumi smiled and went to the back of the car to get Sydney. "Just let me get the stroller~" She said as she picked up the sleeping girl. "Then we can go and see Xander. Also he should have a family now,I did some searching and that's what I found out. (Facebook *cough* *Cough*)" She handed her to Fulmen. "On the other hand,I'll carry her." She quickly grabbed the small child back.

 

"No,I'd like him to see her in my arms~" She took Fulmen by the hand.

 

"Now I'm ready~" She said happily as she and Fulmen (I do what I want!) walk to Xander's front door.
