So it begins.

 

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

 

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

 

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

 

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

 

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

 

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

 

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

 

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

 

...the game has begun."

Neisan finished his beans and crushed the can in his hand. "I'm game. Are you ready, Kilek? Oh, some of you don't really know who I am yet! Silly me, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Neisan. Since you guys seem to have powers, I'll tell you mine. I am a mechanic. I built this temporary suit from scrap parts on the island. I'm hoping I'll find my real suit somewhere. It's a whole lot better." Neisan gave a wry grin. "I wonder why they let a lowly mechanic onto this island?"

Kilek had eaten two more cans of food before getting up to look at the door again. "I suppose its better than waiting here doind nothing," Kilek said. He approached the door and tried to find someway to open it. There didnt appear to be any sort of handle, nor a switch beside it. After a while, it slide open with a quick *swish*

The door stood open as Kilek passed slowly through it. The room on the other side looked strangely familiar. Luckily there was no heat, no lasers, and in fact there wasn't really much of anything. It was a huge empty room. The very same one displayed on all of the monitors in the previous room. In fact, what had seemed to be various rooms, one each monitor, was actually a single room displayed over and over again. Parts of the metal walls had little outlines, as if they may open, but otherwise there was nothing else interesting about the room. Not even a door.

 

When Kilek passed through, though, the number "2" switched to the number "1". It was a if the number were a capacity limit. The door stayed open, the number "1" lingering over it.

"Leave this one to me." Sikota said, stepping inside the room. He wasn't too sure how capable Kilek was, or even how capable he was in his current condition. Neisan would probably do much better, and he couldn't afford letting Tsuna enter into something like this, knowing the possible dangers. He began to formulate a plan with what they had. Sikota would have been able to detect any preemptive strikes which if he could not counter, could move Kilek into position to do so. 

 

And should it be necessary, Sikota would be willing to damage his wings further, using their special capabilities to pass this next test.

 

The '1' dropped to a '0'

"IF We're Going On A Road Trip, We're Gonna Need A Car" Xander Said To The Rest Of The Group

"Fulmen, You Think You Could Fire Up That Jeep With Some Electricity??" He Said Pointing Back At The Jeep

"I'm Still Waiting For Locke To Install The Engine In The Other One"

The door began to rumble shut. "No! You can't do this with just the two of you!" Neisan dashed with incredible speed through the closing door. "Thank goodness I installed speed-improving servos in my legs!" The door closed behind him with a resounding BOOM!!! Red error lights flashed across the room. An alarm sounded: MAXIMUM CAPACITY EXCEEDED MAXIMUM CAPACITY EXCEEDED. Neisan looked sheepish. "Whoops."

Hmp. If only they knew.

 

The alarm suddenly shut off.

 

"How daring of you Neisan." Xi's voice came through Neisan's earpiece once more. "You've earned your place in this room, then. Enjoy it."

 

The three were left in an empty room. Silence pervaded the room. Silence before the storm.

 

In the previous room Ren and Tsuna were left standing alone. The monitors now showed the three in the room. Every single monitors had it from differing angles. A panel slid out from the wall suddenly, calling to Ren and Tsuna in a way. On it there were 6 buttons, each with a different symbol on them, each seemingly representing something.

 

The Tiger button- An orange button with a black mark on it resembling a tiger.

The Razor button- A red button with a black mark on it resembling a circular power-razor.

The Freeze button- A blue button with a black mark on it resembling a snowflake.

The Downsize button- A white button with a 4 black arrows on it, all pointing inward.

The Rhino button- A green button with a black mark on it resembling a rhino.

The Drone button- A purple button with a black mark on it resembling a small flying robot.

 

Above the buttons was a single simple sentence: "Select Three."

 

Then those in both rooms received a transmission.

 

"Welcome to the next test. This is one that shall test skill, resolve, and choice. Will you choose how your friends will be killed? Will you be slain by your own comrades' choices? If any of you do survive, a surprise waits at the end of this test."

 

Then a specialized message came into the earpieces of Ren and Tsuna. "Choose their fate. If you do not, no doors shall open from the room they reside in, and they shall never escape. If they do not, you have no chance or survival either."

 

Then a single message to both groups once more;

 

"Begin."

"Our own comrades' choices? What does he mean by that. I'm going to need to tinker with these earpiece things once we get out of here. Then we will be able to talk to each other from long distances, like a walkie-talkie. This would be easier if we could ask Ren and Kilek what they know about this. Maybe they got their own separate message from Xi. I got that once." Neisan looked around the room. "Might as well charge my mega laser now." The laser folded over his shoulder and began emitting a hum.

Kilek heard the door slam shut, he was trapped in the room along with Sikota and Neisan. He began savagely banging on the door in an attempt at freedom. Soon he realized it was no use, slamming his fist into the wall one last time, leaving a dent.

 

He turned to his two companions, "What now?" he asked

Fulmen looked to Yumi, "If you honestly think you can do it, then go ahead~. Now, let me see if I can jumpstart that jeep." Fulmen turned to look at Xander, nodding once, "I should be able to do it...I think. It's difficult to control, but I believe I'll manage."

Fulmen turned his gaze to the pair of jeeps, sighing once. He was still drained from the earlier battle, and honestly, he wasn't sure if he'd be able to force out anymore of a current.

Yumi yawned."Well then we can go went everyone is ready." She said.

"I'm a bit tried and a bit bored. Besides. He will test us again. I know it. Xi..." She looked up at the sky.

"It's not even noon yet." She bit her lip.

"I'm ready to go if Karu is." Raises stated, her voice in the roboticish voice.

Karu gave a nod.

"Planes, Guns....imagine what else he has in store for us." Karu said bluntly.

Panic tightened Ren's throat as Xi's voice rang through his ear piece. "Choose their fate. If you do not, no doors shall open from the room they reside in, and they shall never escape. If they do not, you have no chance or survival either."

 

Choose their fate? Ren thought furiously. But how?  Either way, Ren figured he was sentencing them to their deaths.  He shot a glance over at Tsuna, who looked like she might've been just as bothered by it as him.  If they were to move forward, he'd have to select three buttons.  As much as he didn't wish to harm his new acquaintances, he couldn't simply sit there and do nothing.

 

Finally moving over to the keypad, the redhead observed the buttons carefully.  If he could select things that the others could overcome easily...  With this in mind, he quickly punched in the drone button, the Freeze button, and the Downsize button.  Ren held his breath anxiously as the computer seemed to process his request.  "Thank you," it read on the screen, before disappearing entirely.  What had just happened on the other side of that door, he had no idea...

Tsuna watched as Ren punched in the buttons quickly. Choose their fates, was what echoed though her head. She nervously rubbed her head while staring at the buttons that were still sitting there. I dont want them to die, she thought nervously, well i guess i just have to have hope in them. Breaking the silence, Tsuna said to Ren "You think that they'll make it out alive?" 

"Well we won't all fight in the Jeep. So I say some of us should scout ahead and the others come in the Jeep after." Yumi said.

"I'll be one!" She said.

"Who else will come?" She asked.

"I can drive one of the jeeps"

Xander said raising his hand

He had recently obtained his license

Fulmen shrugged again, "I'll do whatever. I'd like to scout ahead- but at least let me get these jeeps running; then I'll come along." Fulmen said, walking up to the first jeep, opening the hood, and placing his hands upon the battery.

"I know very little of mechanics...but I'll assume I need to re-power the battery." Fulmen murmured, shutting his eyes closed.

"Rasiel will fallow me." Karu said quickly, trying to block his sister from saying anything.

"It depends where you need me to go, and then we will fallow." He said with a slight smile.

"Just to the road ahead.I'm not going to make you or anything." Yumi told Rasiel.

"I don't want to get you mad again." She added.

She smiled."Is that okay for you?" She asked.

Immediatly, the room got noticeably colder. The walls began slowly moving inward. A small hatch opened on the roof of the room. Neisan steeled himself for what might be coming. He primed his weapons and turned off his cooling system. "Should've had the forethought of adding a heater too." A buzzing came from the hatch on the ceiling as many small drones descended, their weapons trained on the three. Neisan smiled. "At least it's not all bad. Drones I can deal with." He raised his weapons.

In the room Sikota, Neisan, and Kilek were in the air became noticeably colder and colder. It soon reached freezing temperatures and continued to drop. Parts of the walls parted for but a moment and 5 aerial drones shot into the room. Each one was armed with a submachine gun that began to target the three. The room continued to grow cooler and suddenly two walls began to shift... then move. The room began to slowly close in on the three, with no sign of stopping. The drones took little time to get to work, and three began immediately firing on the group as the walls closed in on the freezing room.

"I'll stay here and work on the other jeep." Robert said; he may not have been a mechanic, but he knew a thing or two about cars. He then handed Yumi one of the walkie-talkies. "Here, I found one of these in each of the jeeps. I've got the other one. Take it just in case Xi tries to split us up." He then walked over to the other jeep and started to hook up the engine.

Well... looks like I´ll stay too... I said while looking at Robert, I fixed the other one... the only problem will be the energy... mmm anyway... you go ahead we will reach you soon. I said looking around... as long as I have paper for draw...

"I never was mad at you Yumi..." Rasiel said, climbing off of Karu's head and onto his shoulder.

There she transformed into human form so that she was sitting on both of Karu's shoulders.

Karu didn't seem to have a reaction. Rasiel wasn't that heavy.

"We will stay here with Xandere if you two are going to be on the look out. I will be using my empathy just incase anything happens. If something is wrong, we will both come running." he said smiling.

Kilek frantically dodged the gunfire, he could easily take out a the drones, if he didnt have to jump outta the way every 3 seconds, he called to Neisan, " Give me some cover! I'ma take some those things out!" Kilek saw an opening and lunged upward, sinking his teeth into the gun of one of the drones. He bit into what deemed was the drone's "head" but didnt bite it off. the drone was still firing, and Kilek was jerking it around in the air, making it aim at the other drones.
