So it begins.

 

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

 

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

 

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

 

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

 

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

 

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

 

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

 

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

 

...the game has begun."

Very good.

 

A small alarm activated in the room with Ren and Tsuna, and suddenly several vents opened, filtering the smoke of the explosion quickly. The explosion itself had only dented and blackened the door, but a small window at about eye level in the door had opened, giving a fairly sizable viewing window into the room with the fighting trio, another hole being used to vent smoke out of the room, but it served a seemingly unintended purpose of giving Ren and Tsuna a way to look into the next room. It wasn't nearly big enough for a person to get through, though.

 

The room continued to close inward. 45 seconds and counting.

"Hey...is anyone else tierd?" Rasiel asked, grabbing onto Karu again.

She looked up at her brother.

"Kra...are we going to die?" she asked quietly, using the name she used to call Karu when she was young.

Neisan looked up from Kilek. "Look! I think we could break that down and get out of here!" Neisan was referring to the now-weakened door. "Hey Kilek! How about biting that door instead of my leg!"

"Dammit!" Tsuna yelled in frustration while pounding on the door with her fists on fire. Nothing happened to the door. After a minute she stopped and noticed a tiny opening that allowed her to see through to the other room. "Hey Ren, come look at this." she said while taking a peak through. The others in the other room seemed to noticed the opening she was looking through. 

"that's pretty slick." Ember said with a smile. She manipulated water vapor in the air to become liquid again, before changing it into ice, and back into vapor. "But before we do anything else, I'm dying to know what's in that door." Ember spoke again, turning to the door with 'Be Ready' plaque above. She walked over, and before Luce could argue, she opened it up to find....

Kilek felt the lasers searing hot pain, he screamed and chomped the end of one of the blasters. It was then he heard Neisan's suggestion, "Sorry about your leg...and your lasers, anyway, let me try that door," Kilek grabbed a piece of scrap from the destroyed drones and jammed it into the damaged window, trying to wedge out the glass to give him more room to bite.

 

Once Kilek had his hole, he began to bite the metal around it, making it bigger, big enough to let everyone get through, "Unless you like tight places, I suggest you get outta here!" he called to the others

"It's this one Fulmen." Robert said as he pointed to the jeep he had just fixed up.

 

[Finally,] he thought, [we can get this show on the road.]

No need.

 

The walls stopped moving. After a small pause they quickly retracted until the room was fully sized again. On the far side of the room the walls slid aside, revealing another room across from the door that had just been blown open.

 

"Congratulations. Your creativity was commendable. I expected nothing less. You've earned a reward greater than just rest this time."

 

 

Beyond the newly-opened door lay a room unlike one they have found before. It was extravagantly furnished. With velvet-cushioned chairs sitting about the room, two fairly comfortable-looking beds, and a set of well-carved wooden tables in the center. On them were several trays of dishes, such as cooked turkey, steak, rice, shrimp, and more. A jug of water sat on the table with 5 cups surrounding it. On a smaller table beside it were bandages, painkillers, hydrogen peroxide, and a variety of other medical items. On the far side was a set of wooden double doors.

 

In the very center of the room stood the smallest piece of furniture in the entire room. An incredibly small wooden stand with a single tape play-back device sitting atop it, next to a single tape.

Neisan turned around and saw the bandages. "Thank God. My leg hurts like hardy. But first, let's see if we can't scrap these drones. By the end, Neisan had reclaimed his heat laser and gotten enough components to build a flight system. "All right!" he said as he rocketed around the big room. Then he landed by the new room. "Let's go!"

"Maybe I can fix my wings even further." Sikota said, walking into the room. "Because..." pause for dramatic effect. "As soon as we get out of this place, and once my wings recover: we can get off this island."

"There's gotta be some kind of force field around this island, though. From what I've seen of Xi, he seems to be careful." Neisan was already sitting on one of the chairs, removing his armor. When he had finished, he bandaged up his leg and repaired his armor as best he could. "Those shark teeth of Kilek's are really something! The plating in my left leg was nearly torn off!"

Ren marveled at the new room.  It held more splendor than he could've thought possible for the island.  His eyes shifted from the trays of food to the comfortable beds, yet disappointment crept into his expression.  If only there were showers and telephones, he thought miserably.

 

He strode over to a box filled with medical supplies, searching through them until he retrieved a bottle he'd been searching for.  "Hey, Sikota; try applying some of this on your wings.  My mother used to use it on her patients, and it healed wounds extraordinarily fast."

"Unfortunately, I can't really reach behind my back. Any volunteers?" He made a quick glance at Tsuna, then to looked to everyone else, his eyes darted back to Tsuna, and then to the bottle. "They're nice and soooft~"

A moment's hesitation seized Ren, but he then dropped it.  He'd seen his mother treat the wounded before; he could certainly remember enough to help a set of wings.

 

"I'll do it," he offered, before he noticed Sikota was looking directly at Tsuna.  An unintentional sigh escaped him.  "Or, never mind, perhaps someone with more...desirable talent will volunteer."

"Hey, if you know what you're doin, I'll gladly accept your assistance, Ren."

Fulmen nodded to Robert, walking up to the next jeep. Doing the same thing as he did before- he placed his palms upon the jeep's battery.

"Alright." He huffed, "Just need one more burst of power- and we should be good to go." Fulmen sighed, that smell of ozone rising again as he called on his power.

Come on....I just need a little bit more... He thought, his arms shaking from the amount of strain he was forcing upon himself. He was pouring all he could into the jeep, and at this point he nearly fell over.

With a blast of lightning, Fulmen was thrown back- the stored energy exploding all together.

Xander barely reacted in time

He threw out his arms, releasing invisible, mental apendages

 

"Woah!!" He said as he began to catch Fulmen with his Telekinesis

Fulmen started slowing down mid air as Xander lowered him to the ground

 

[That was too close] Xander thought, standing far enough away to stay relatively clear of the blast

"Does the Jeep-thingy work now?" Rasiel spoke up, still clutching onto Karu.

She looked at Fulmen and Xander and the others.

"Where are we going?" she asked out of the blue.

"I found a ruin,we should go look at it." Yumi said as if on cue.

"It's not to far down the path." She added.

"But,it more than likly a test." She told them all.

"Yeah, sorry," Kilek told Neisan, "I kinda got carried away, oh, you might wanna check for teeth in those wounds," Kilek pulled a loose tooth from his mouth, " They come out quite often.

 

Kilek looked at the bed and immediatley saw a math problem, he hated math. Two beds and five people, only one of which was a girl, if this wasnt akward, then Kilek didnt know what was, "So...the beds...." Kilek began, not knowing how to approach the subject

Sikota couldn't help but give a small smile.

Tsuna was still admiring the new room but she heard someone mention 'the beds' and she snapped out of it. Oh right, she thought, i'm the only girl here. Tsuna felt wide awake at the moment and tired to convince herself that she didn't need to sleep, even though she liked taking naps a lot. She slowly looked around at the room and could feel Sikota smiling. Oh great, she thought 

Kilek did'nt like the situation at all, "Screw it, Im sleeping on the floor," he didnt know who was sleeping where, but the floor was public, and better than the akwardness of sharing a bed with two other guys or a girl he hardly knew. He was exhausted and wanted nothing but sleep, he didnt mind the floor, having slept in worse places than a bedroom flor, being a runaway, so he grabbed a pillow and layed down on the floor.
