So it begins.

 

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

 

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

 

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

 

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

 

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

 

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

 

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

 

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

 

...the game has begun."

Nexomarc sighed. "I hate tech." He wiped over his message, picked up the gun and flew back into the guard tower, he made sure to smash some of the mechanized snipers with his landing. "So what am I doing?"

The gates that she reached suddenly opened. Tsuna hesitated then walked in. To her relief she fond Neisan and Sikota inside but it looked like a shoot out took place. What's with all these bullets everywhere, she thought as she glanced at some of the scatter across the ground. this place gets more and more weirder, she thought

Kilek shot up, "He did it to me again". Looking around, he saw Sikota, Niesan, and Tsuna were gone, the doors leading forward had been opened. He violently shook Ren in an effort to wake him up, but then left to try and catch up with the others.

 

After a mild sprint, Kilek found Tsuna, "There you are, Ren's still back there, but where's Neisan and Sikota?"

"It's time for you to choose, Sikota." On the far side of this clearing you see Kilek and Tsuna. They have not seen this test, they don't know what it is. You destroyed some of my sniper setups, but not all of them. A few are aiming at those two right now. With the amount I have trained on them I guarantee you one thing; they will not miss. So here is your test Sikota, since you sought to take this burden on your own; pick a target and shoot them. These are not fake bullets, and I assure they will do damage, but if you do not pick a target, I will fire on them both."

 

Xi let the silence force the reality of the moment into Sikota's head.

 

"Are you so confident in your resolve to help that girl, now? Even if it means nearly killing another? You have 15 seconds to choose and fire.

Sikota struggled with the decision. "They aren't going anywhere!" He smashed his gun and dove toward the two of them. Landing in front of Tsuna, he was ready to take any and all fire for her.

The voice was cold and unforgiving.

 

"Looks like you've failed the test. Goodbye Sikota."

 

Dozens of bullets immediately tore into Sikota, ripping his wings and tearing through his body. It took 10 seconds for the ringing of the shots to stop. Sikota has been hit by several dozen by the end of the volley. His survival was impossible at this point. He now only remained at Tsuna's feet, bullet holes all over his body.

 

"It looks like you weren't the one I was looking for. Too bad."

"I..." Sikota started. "I guess my protection ends here, my sweet." He smiled. His last words were unheard as his yellow eyes were closed.

The Experiment had claimed its first life.

"Sikota!!" Kilek cried, seeing him get shot multiple time. He appeared outta nowhere, saving his and Tsuna's life. Damnit, why'd you have to do that, Kilek thought bitterly, he didnt like seeing people die, no one did. You may have been an odd, and at times annoying person, he thought to himself, always knocking me out, but you saved my life, twice now. You were a good man

Ember tried to turn the projectiles into air, or liquid, but it wasn't working. They were probably pure energy, which she couldn't deal with. She dove to the side calling out to Luce. "They aren't matter! I can't get rid of them!" If this guy... robot... cyborg... whatever, could shoot lasers, she wasn't sure she wanted to mess with him... it. Ember looked through her bag of tricks, and found something. She turned the air around the thing to water, which would hopefully have him short-circuit.

Neisan had to crouch down to cover himself from all the bullets now, which slowed his advance. Then he saw the bullets stop coming. He decided to take advantage of it. He fired many volleys of shots into the guard towers. He knew there were snipers in the forest, but he couldn't get them. Then Sikota dashed past, running towards Tsuna. He leaped in front of her, even as many bullets tore through him. "Sikota." Neisan whispered. Then he ran over to him. "You hypocrite! Your self-confidence has done you in! You always thought I would be the one to die. And now look at you, bleeding in the dust. You always thought you were the smart one, and now look at you, dying for your stupid choices." Neisan turned away from him. He began walking down the range again. "Xi, I will complete these tests, if only to prove Sikota wrong. I swear this!" Neisan reached the sniper towers, and destroyed them.

Wind beat Ren's hair furiously against his face as he rushed to the clearing, a gun in each hand and one in his belt.  After Kilek had awoken him and explained what was happening, he thought they ought to meet their test with physical weapons and not merely their powers.  After all, Xi's expecting us to use our abilities, he'd thought, he'll be surprised if we have other means of offense.

 

Once he reached the clearing, however, he discovered that he was too late.  He only caught one glimpse of Sikota being shot by more bullets than he dared count before he collapsed on the ground.  "NO!"  The scream escaped him before he was able to sustain it.  He dashed over to him, though he could tell from the heavy flow of blood that it was already too late.  Sikota, the first person in the world who'd said only the night before that they could be "good friends," was dying.  Ren dropped one of his guns and thrust a fist into the ground.

 

"Sikota," he murmured softly, eyes glazed with tears, "I'm so sorry..."

(Well that escalated quickly)

Everything happened so quickly. There in front of Tsuna was Sikota's body filled with bullet holes and covered in blood. Her eyes widened and she dropped to her knees next to his body and was speechless. Her eyes were already filling up with tears. It was all to much to process. Why..., she thought, why did Xi have to take Sikota's life. Tsuna took Sikota in her arms and hugged his limp body. Her sadness soon turned into anger. There was a burning hatred in her eyes. Nobody else will die here, she thought, not while I'm still alive. "Sikota...." she silently muttered

While Ember was doing her voodoo stuff, Luce drew lines of red plasma into a curve to slice the beams in two  and slip between them (if it didn't work then he would fall back onto the floor to avoid harm.) Luce called out, "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?"

The dummy's left arms began to spark, but it refused to slow down. It quickly rushed the other way, and began charging another shot.

Xi's voice buzzed through to those in the sniper clearing.

 

"Forget the boy. He has opened the way, finish the test."

Tsuna sighed and lied Sikota's body softly onto the ground and stood up. I'm suppose to just leave him there?, she thought and looked back towards the others. They were all mourning his death as well. If Xi was in sight she would be shooting all the fire she could generate at him. She just suffered the loss of a friend and he died right in front of her. Finish the test, she thought, it's the only way we can end this nightmare. Tsuna wiped the tears from her face. "Let's go." She said to the others, emotionless, and started started walking to the way out of the area. Heat was seeping out of her body, as if flames were about to appear any minute. 

"I can drive." Fulmen said, "I've already got my license...it's not with me, but I highly doubt that matters right now." Fulmen said, rubbing his hands together. They still tingled a bit, and he attempted to rub out the feeling. He needed to have a good grip on the steering wheel, or else he might accidentally crash.

"Just choose the jeep, and we can set off. We're heading for that temple thing, right?" Fulmen asked, looking to Yumi for confirmation.

(Voodoo stuff? Really? Because your ability makes so much more sense than mine...)Ember swore when the water didn't work. "I have no idea!" Ember replied to Luce. Ember watched with shock and awe as the thing used it's amazing speed to dart around. Could she use the speed of it against it? A light went on in her head. Ember watched and predicted where the thing was going to be in a few seconds, and snapped her fingers. A solid wall appeared where she thought the thing would be. Hopefully it would crash into it.

Filled with grief, confusion, and remorse, Ren watched with absent eyes as Tsuna turned to leave.  He stole one last glance at Sikota and rose.  "Thank you...my friend.  For everything.  I promise...I will avenge you."  With that, he cried out, "Hey, Tsuna!  Wait!"  He made it to her side in several quick strides.  One glance at her face told him that she too was stricken hard by the death of their friend.  Hesitantly, and with great caution, he extended his gloved hand to meet hers.

 

"You were important to him; he died protecting you," he said smoothly.  "And, while I can't say I'm willing to lie my life down and do the same, I will do everything in my power to fulfill his wishes and see you out of here alive"--he gave her hand a gentle squeeze--"you have my word."

"Ok, I think you should drive, Fulmen. Since you know the way. But if you feel like you can't, I'll be the backup driver" Xander said with a smile

 

Xander opened the back door to one of the jeeps and sat down

 

"Safety first" he said as he buckled up

 

[Fulmen mentioned a temple.. what on earth could the next test be??] He thought a little worried

(Hey guys,Hazimie's back on this RP again...)

 

Hazimie was sleeping at the tree in the jungle all this time and he began to sense someone (Sikota) dying."So.....he's in Rest In Peace,huh?...."Hazimie said as he suddenly standing up and began walking."Looks like my time has come....i'll come for you,Xi....."Hazimie said as he continue walking through the jungle,hoping to meet Xi and end this battle...

Tsuna simmered down and signed. "I know.....and thank you Ren." This little experiment of Xi's is only going to get harder, she thought, I need to be more careful to avoid anyone else getting killed; only if I had an idea what he was going to throw at us next. Tsuna continued walking in silence, only trying to imagine what she and her friends will encounter next.

Luce watched Ember at work, and did his best to improvise. He sent a swirl of different colored arcs of energy storming towards the dummy in hopes of directing the target towards Ember's wall. "Maybe we should turn back!" Luce shouted over the chaos while forming a shield of rapidly moving bolts of plasma between the Experiment subjects and the dummy. 

 

(Sorry, no offense. Just trying to be upbeat. And its been a while since I checked out the character sign-ups, so I assumed by your name you were fire orientated and I was a bit suprised by the aquakinesis.)

The dummy slammed into the walls. Parts of its rail trajectory system began to move, preparing to change direction, but just then several of Luce's arcs of energy slammed into it, destroying its head and dislodging one of the guns. The dummy move considerably slow, trying to recalculate it's single remaining cannon.

After passing the sniper guard towers, Ren, Kilek, Neisan, and Tsuna came upon a huge warehouse. The high and electrified fencing seemed to narrow as the path went on towards it... leaving the warehouse as the only viable way forward.

Hazimie saw something a distance away in the trees. It was some sort of building, and it was huge. It looked ancient, made of various carved stone. It was covered in vines and looked like a sort of temple.

Now that the jeeps were running, the group at the destroyed house saw the road leading towards the building that Fulmen and Yumi had seen. Then, for the first time in a while, a voice chimed into their earpeices.

 

"Keep moving, you're all ready now, and you would not want to miss what lies in wait."

"Here, you guys should take these.  Xi's going to expect us to use our abilities, so if we have other weapons we may be at a slight advantage.  I do prefer a sword, but I figured these would do."  Ren handed a gun to both Kilek and Tsuna, nodding in Neisan's direction.  "I know you've got bullets of your own, so I didn't think you would need a gun.  I hope that's alright."

 

A large warehouse loomed into view, with a large fence surrounding it.  Ren wasn't foolish enough to assume it had no electrical current to it.  No, there only way forward was through there.  He was willing to bet whatever was in there was going to be their worst challenge yet.

 

Ren made it to the door first, his three companions only an arm's distance behind him.  Not a sound could be heard from outside the building, but that of course wasn't any indication of what awaited them inside.  For all he knew some booby-trap could be waiting for them, just waiting to be triggered.  "Be on your guard," he murmured to them.  "And whatever you do, just expect the unexpected; chances are you won't be disappointed."

 

Heart hammering in his chest, Ren swung the door open to find...

Tsuna took the gun from Ren. It feels so heavy, she thought, i've never actually used a gun before. She looked up and observed the large warehouse in front of her. I wonder what Xi has in store for us in there, she thought, might be something crazy. Tsuna gripped the gun in her hand. Even though she could fight without it, it's always good to hold weapons on you too. When they arrived to the entrance, Tsuna watched as Ren swung the door opened and readied herself for what was inside.
