(Some minor ground rules; respect other players, never simply give yourself an unfair advantage, mix things up if you wish, and given the nature of the secrets on the island, if you wish to have an enviornment described for you by me, simply end a post with your character looking upon an envionrment or opening a door and end with a "...")

So it begins.

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

...the game has begun."

"I know it could be a trick," Ren admitted, "but right now I don't see us with many plausible options.  Xi's about to unleash another one of his tests on us.  If this Sikota guy wants to help, we could really use it."

He exited the shack closely behind Neisan, meeting up with Lirakota who waited outside.  His expression wasn't warm nor friendly, but instead cold and calculating.  "Alright, we've agreed that we could use your help.  I don't know if you're really Sikota or not, but regardless we're trapped on this island, and working in numbers have always been our advantage to survival.  It would help you as well if you traveled with us, I think."  Ren shot a glance at the sky.  Anything could be attacking them at any moment--the suspense of not knowing when or where it would be coming from was excruciating.

"We should leave now--if we want to stand a chance."

Fulmen nodded, going the last few feet to reach the orbs. He tentatively placed his palms upon them, sighing.

Xi must have shown that for a reason. He thought, If I live, I'd like to find out what that is.

Fulmen then looked down to the orbs, his heart racing. "If they're anything like us, they'll run the hell away..or blast these damn things out of the sky." Fulmen said, pouring a small tendril of electricity into the orbs.

Rasiel gave a nod, then agnolageing what Xander said she about freaked out.

"Y–yes, what would that be...?" She asked, a bit nervous.

Rasiel nodded however.

"Karu told me something else, however I'm not saying that until later..." She said.

Xander got a bit nervous when he saw he had made Rasiel nervous, but then looked a little confused, hearing the last part

"Ok, whenever you're ready to tell me, I'll be ready!!" A slightly confident smile momentarily crossed his face

But his look soon turned back to nervousness

"I uh.. I'm not sure how well this will work, but here goes nothing"

He looked Rasiel in the eyes. He had a serious, concentrated look on his face. On the outside, he probably looked stupid, but in his head, he was mentally trying to establish a communications connection with Rasiel's mind

After a few moments he felt like he had done it and tried to send a telepathic message to her

{..Rasiel.. can you hear me..??} This message was transmitted through their link

[There, now to see if she got it, and furthermore, if I can receive a reply!!] He thought to himself

(mentally dying of laughter)

"Who the hell do you think you are...Karu maybe? No, he doesn't use telepathy...empathy is what Karu has..." Rasiel said telepathically, turning to Robert.

"You don't have to stare at a person either you idiot..." she snapped.

"Come on Xander..." She sighed, dragging him into the elevator with her, Robert, Humm, and now Xander inside the small space.

"Let's go. Make sure I don't get killed 'servant' or 'protector'" Rasiel said with a sigh, referring to Humm and Xander.

"All righty then, let's get going" Robert said, ignoring Ransiel's harsh comment, and pressed the button in the elavator.

When they had gotten into the elevator, Xander crossed his arms and smirked at Rasiel teasingly

"It works!! That's all the matters"

He then turned to Robert

"Go for it, Robert"

Humm was still a little wobbly from all the chaos. The motion of the elevator didn't help too much. But he knew that he had to stay strong. He assumed that this elevator would lead to an encounter with Xi. Before he could let Rasiel destroy him, he had to seclude himself and get some answers. He knew just enough about his mysterious origins to know that he needed to know more... that own thought confused him. What was known and needed to be known knowing what now? Humm shook his head. He had to get serious. The elevator dinged and opened up, behind the door was...

The shadowy figure paused. "No..." He said. "That can't... could that be..."

((Not quite so fast for the elevator crew. There's one quick thing that needs to happen on the way down))

The elevator doors closed and it began to move slowly downward. Suddenly an speaker in the roof of the elevator came alive with sound. It was an unfamiliar voice.

"We've done it. We've found them. Oh, oh, sorry, I forgot to mention, this is the first recording in a series to chronicle our progress with Project Ascension. I'm Professor Degin, I'll be heading research. As part of the Ascension Task force, a confidential federal task force in charge of discovering and utilizing them. Agents Frederick and Thompson are our heading agents, they will be investigating possibilities for subjects. So, to explain the purpose of the project... 65 or so years ago the Allies of World War II found certain people... people with powers. The abilities of these people was unprecedented so upon discovery the knowledge of these people was made confidential. A task force was assembled with British and US scientist to obtain and test these people in combat situation, to see if they would be possible war assets. The "Experiment" worked, the people passed with flying colors. Confidential files reveal that the involvement of these special people are what may have helped to turn the force of the war. After the war the people disappeared, and the project went dark. Recently the FBI has come upon the tapes of the experiment, and Project Ascension was formed to look into the potential for finding and utilizing such people for the benevolent end of our world.

What we found was... it was incredible. These people had more than just powers. Records show that these people survive tests at exceptionally high levels, even if the tests are unrelated to their powers. More than just individual abilities, each person seemed to have an inhuman resilience, they survived where most would die. They weren't invincible, but they have incredible luck, it's as if they were the heroes of a storybook, people with powers have the ability to persevere unlike any human we've ever seen, such resilience may even be more useful a tool than their powers. It's as if these people are fated to be tough to kill, as such, we've given them the title the "Fated Ones", or F.O.s. We believe that F.O.s have been in humankind for sometime, but we just never knew it, or perhaps thought it was something else. The strength of Hercules, the resilience of the 300 Spartans of Thermopylae, the impossibility of the Pyramids of Egypt. These all seemingly stem from F.O.s. And if they could do such great things so long ago. Imagine what we could get them to do now, if we found them... Well this has been the first recording, I will continue to make these and chronicle our progress. Maybe before long we can find our first few subjects. Professor Degin signing off."

The elevator doors opened right as the recording ended. It led into a darkened room. Across the room was a silhouette in a chair. A bright light behind him would now betray any of his facial features or appearance. A pane of glass separated the group from him.

"Greetings. I hope you've been well educated on the way down. I'm sure we have much to discuss before we get down to business. Firstly, to your side you will recognize a familiar face." The man spoke with a very familiar voice. The voice changer was no longer present but, Xi's voice was clearly discernable.

To the side of the group, behind another pane of glass, stood Kijiya, and the corpse of Hazimie.

"Don't mind him, he's waiting on his next assignment."

Xi paused and seemed to lean forward... at this distance it was hard to tell his depth thanks to the silhouette effect.

"So, where do you wish to start?"

A door suddenly opened from the whiteness of the room that Yumi found herself in. A teenage boy fell through and crashed onto the floor next to Yumi.

"Are you ready to begin soon Yumi? Before you do, I want you to meet Simon. Simon meet Yumi. Make the introductions quick, your friends are on their way..."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sounds of dozens of missiles firing off rang out to both sides of Fulmen.

"I'm glad you decided to make the right choice Fulmen. It may very well not be the last you make today, and you'll want the experience of having done something like this if you happen to encounter harder choices later on. Regardless, congratulations. You continue to impress. Here is your new prize."

Part of the wall of the building shifted and exposed an new exit outside to Fulmen. It exited outside of the high fence that previously kept Fulmen exposed, and it led onto a road that continued towards the radio tower. Right next to the exit the sounds of some machinery brakes rang out. Ember's's tram suddenly came to the surface from the underground rail system. Ember had arrived right outside the building that Fulmen was in by the button she had pushed not long ago.

"Better make friends you two, there's more ahead."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Lira" Xi's voice range out in Lira's earpiece. "I need you to disengage from this group currently. Maybe make it theatrical. Regardless, move into the forest, I will provide transportation for you. I know how you like your games with people and I have someone you may have even more fun with then the group you are currently with."

There was a pause.

"I want you to remember the name 'Karu'"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only right after Lira heard the words from Xi, the whole group could suddenly hear a very different sound... like something cutting through air. It was getting louder and louder. A few dozen missiles homed in on the shack, rocketing towards it, courtesy of Xi and Fulmen...

Edited by MDSVeritas

Lira heard Xi's voice over everything else. "Ren...Neisan...Kilek...and Tsuna... I'm sorry. If I don't leave right now... then you all would die...! Remember this, my sweet: I am gone, but for you! I'll always remain with you elsewhere though. Farewell, my friends." Lirakota said his farewells to the group and took off with great speeds away, and into the dark abyss of the forest. "A more interesting group, huh? I'll need some memories to read first. Karu... its too bad. I kind of liked Sikota's body. Maybe I'll use it just for the hell of it later on." Lira muttered to herself and the disembodied voice.

Ren stood there numbly, confused at what just happened.  First the Sikota look-alike was trying desperately to befriend them, and now excused himself abruptly and darted into the forest.  Finally the redhead shook his head, deciding to forget trying to make sense of anything around there.

"So, we'd die if he stayed here," Ren repeated.  "That's...a pretty discomforting thought."

(Idk what too put now,gah I'll post again later I guess,I knew it was to fast... *hides under a rock again*)

((Whoops, mistake on my part, I accidentally put Yumi's name in Fulmen's section, when in fact I mean to say that Ember's tram arrived at his location, Yumi and Simon are still underground in the same room. Random name switch on my part, sorry.)

Tsuna didn't say anything as she watched the Sikota lookalike disappeared into the forest. "Hmph.." she muttered and looked at Ren and Neisan. "Yeah and it's best that we get out of here before Xi throws another test at us." she said calmly. How long have we even been stuck on this island, she thought, i think i lost track on the weeks a long time ago... The thought of staying in this place forever kinda shocked Tsuna out of her thoughts but she pushed that aside. "Where are we heading off to now?"

Robert stood there and let Xi's words sink in. [i've wanted to talk to this guy ever since I woke up here, so why don't I know what to say?] Then it hit him. "Hey Xi, let's say that we complete your tests, how do we know you'll keep us alive? As far as we know, you'll kill us all off in the end just to make sure there are no whitneses."

(Oh My God!!)

[Degin, Thompson, Frederick..]

[Project Ascension..]

[Fated Ones..]

[Experiment..]

All these things flew through Xander's mind on the way down the elevator

[What.. what is this??!!]

Xander thought, an intense look on his face, but the opening doors disrupted his train of thought.

He stood ready, grabbing Rasiel's hand

When he realized what, or who, he was looking at, his heart skipped a beat.. there was no doubt once he heard the voice.. it was Xi. The man behind it all. The man responsible for so much pain and suffering.. was sitting in front of them

[it's really him.. he's here.. sitting down in the same room as me..] after a second Xander had a sudden epiphany [and Rasiel..!!]

Throughout all of this, Xander maintained his composure. He stood tall and seemingly unaffected by all that was happening, his face expressionless

He squeezed her hand hard as Robert broke the silence with a question to Xi

{Rasiel.. Don't do anything.. Please. Not yet} He pleaded with her in tele, without taking his eyes off of Xi

Fulmen sighed. "They better live." He whispered, trudging onwards through the new opening. Right outside the new opening was a tram system-- with what appeared a just recently parked rail car. Fulmen continued to walk towards it, slightly fearful yet curious as to who the car's occupants were. There didn't appear to be anyway of telling from where he was, so he sat down and waited.

(Do you guys not hear the missiles streaking toward the shack right now!?)

Neisan went from suspicious to bewildered. The Sikota-duplicate had just ran off into the woods. "Some person he turned out to be. I still don't believe that's the real Sikota." Szszszszszszszsz. The sound of something rushing through the air. "What? Oh no! Missiles!" Neisan's mega laser quickly folded over his shoulder and fired on the missiles. Two out of many exploded in an out-rushing of fire and shrapnel. "We need to leave, now! Ren, see if you can scramble some of those missiles!" Neisan took off down the path to the radio tower, carrying Kilek in his arms.

Simon struggled to his feet. "He... He said your name was Yumi?" He gave a sheepish smile. "Well it's nice to meet you." A cherry fell from his sleeve. "Oh, sorry." He pulled up his sleeve revealing a grass bracelet. "Things will just fall out sometimes."

<><><><><><><><><><><><>

"Let me ask you something, Xi." Humm demanded, his triangular wings flared rather unthreateningly. "Who am I? Where did I come from?"

Yumi shook her head. "It's fine..I really don't care who you are,are you my next test?" She asked.

She wasn't going to play anymore games. The sooner she got out of here the faster she could find Fulmen. That above all right now was her goal, the others could wait. "If not then why are you here?" She added.

"Test?" Simon scratched behind his head. "I'm not too sure... I think Id have to get an explanation from that voice in my head." He paused and then chuckled. "That sounds rather weird I guess. If you have any idea about a test, go ahead and steer me in The right direction."

The rushing sound of air and Neisan's words caused Ren to glance up; his eyes widened at what he saw.  Missiles were falling from the sky at a dangerous pace, aiming at what appeared to be...the shack.

"No," Ren murmured, clenching his fists against his sides.  "This must've been what that Sikota guy was talking about...  It was all a trap.  All of it."  He whirled around to Tsuna and grasped her shoulders.  He probably startled her, but he hardly had the time to give it much thought.  "Listen, you need to run.  Run for the woods.  There's no time, and this place is probably going to be in ashes soon.  I promised the real Sikota that I would protect you, and that's what I'm going to do.  We'll divert the missiles as long as we can--just go!"

Turning his back on Tsuna now, Ren surveyed the missiles.  They were quite a distance away; he didn't think his wind could reach from from his distance.  He would have to wait until they got a little closer, though that would only increase the danger.  Truthfully, Ren was afraid his end had finally come.

(When did you promise that?)

"No! Not them!" The shadowy figure shouted, he pulled with all his might, it was an awkward position but if he could manage he just might... SNAP! Another one of his chains broke and several links were sent hurtling towards the missiles like meteors. "Just let that help. Please."

(I promised you after you died, remember?  You were my only friend, so I decided to live on for what you died for, to protect Tsuna.  Pretty noble of me, eh? :P  Even spoiled Ren has a *few* positive qualities, haha!))
