So it begins.

I have gathered them here. They know nothing yet. That will change soon. I wonder how they will take to each other. Time will tell. Regardless, no more time can be wasted. The Experiment must now begin. Time to wake them up...

"Good morning. Welcome to the next part of your life."

The voice rang out in all of their ears. Earpieces, firmly attached in the ears of all of them. Inside came the unnerving and unnaturally changed voice on the other end. One by one, after hearing the voice, each of the subjects began to wake. Lying on the shore of a short beach was Yumi Yuki Ai, Ember Mors, Luce Angelo, Hazimie Azhar, and Rasiel Kasaragi. The wind blew over them as they lay sprawled over the sand in close proximity to each other. Just as they had been placed. Next to the beach was a mix of jungle and swamp that went deeper into the mainland. Besides that the beach was mostly barren. A wrecked fishing boat was rusted and decaying within walking distance, but nothing more. The waves lapped up on the shore softly...

Miles away lay an abandoned collection of bunkers and buildings. They surrounded an airstrip. Rusted machine parts lay strewn about, and any sign of activity at the airstrip had long since faded. On the ground in the middle of the airstrip lay several more people. Ren Cabret, Neisan, Kilek North, Tsuna Sasaki, and Sikota Urinakano. Two desolate bunkers flanked the airstrip they were on, with a control tower at the end of the strip. Forest flanked the airstrip on all sides, with a single winding road leading out. The wind cut through the trees and sliced past the bunkers onto the airstrip. Only the wind and the trees provided any sound to the desolate military installation...

Deep in the jungle was a pair of rusted jeeps parked next to a crumbling house. The jeeps were long past functioning, and their engines were removed recently as well. The house sat surrounded by the trees with a single road leading somewhere further into the jungle. Inside the house were the four other subjects; Robert Evans, Karu Kasaragi, Fulmen Aizen, Xander Steel, and Locke Stern. Part of the roof of the house had caved in, and most of the belongings and furniture were gone. Remaining in the house were a few pots and pans, and single picture in an imaculate frame on a table in the room where the four people were laying. Silence pervaded the house...

On this island the Experiment is to be conducted. The island itself is only a few miles across, but its jungles, beaches, and bunkers hold long-kept secrets. These people now find themselves as part of a deadly game. They will have to get to know each other, and work together to discover what is sought from them, and in the process they must learn what they seek themselves.

The voice buzzed through their earpeices once more.

"Time to wake up. The Experiment has begun. You won't want to be asleep for this... Wake up and meet your new friends... and enemies. Wake up...

...the game has begun."

Kilek heard someone say his name as he barreled through the hallway, catching up with the others. He let out an enormous sigh, relieved he had gotten through. He raised his hand to wipe the profuse sweat from his forehead, "Oww!" he exclaimed, he looked at his hand, the ring that had been grazed by the lazer was red hot, and he just swiped it across his forehead, "Hope that doesnt leave a mark". He examined his ring for a while, both of them quite special to him

Luce reached the metal gate a peered inside.

Beyond the door was a small room, its walls made of a cheap-looking metal. There were a few computers, all decommissioned, lining the wall to her left. On the opposite wall there were several tables, one of which was stacked with random objects; a globe, a broken compass, a lamp, and several decks of cards. Such object did not seem very useful or significant. On the other table sat several cans of food rations, though. There was a chalkboard pinned the wall behind the tables, in which several pictures were stuck on. The pictures look to date back to before the 50s and were all in black an white. All of them were single pictures of various young men and women, none of which looked like any major historical figures or anyone who could be recognized. Written on the board around them, dozen of times, was "F.O.". Again an again and again. The "F.O."s filled the chalkboard.

Besides the two walls there was the wall  opposite from where the entrance was. A single door sat in the center of the wall. A plaque hung above the door, with only the words "Be Ready" engraved on it. Inside the room as well as Luce was a woman... Ember.

Tsuna kicked the door hard with her foot and it slowly fell to the ground with a thud...

Inside was the refreshing feeling of cool air blowing from several vents. Beyond the door was a small room filled with several chairs and a table in the center. There were strangely modern televisions that covered the walls to the left and right. On every screen was the image a large empty metal room. On the table lay several cans of food rations, bandages, and mild painkillers. On the far side was a single metal door that looked automated. Over the door was a single screen displaying  the number "2". The room was cooled and the chair looked at least mildly comfortable. A good place for a quick rest.

Luce knocked and called out to Ember. "Excuse me, ma'am, but I need help. I somehow got to this place and I don't know how. Where am I?" As he said his piece, he couldn't stop looking at the FOs and the Be Ready plaque. The mysterious messages bothered him.

Tsuna walked over to one of the chairs and sat down with a thud. "Some weird game this is ..." she muttered as she watched the others come into the room. The cool air on her skin cleared her mind. A stinging sensation came back to her palm and she just remembered that she was burned by the hot liquidy metal. Tsuna took a bandage cloth off the table and started wrapping her palms with it.

Sikota removed himself from Neisan. "Hold it right there." He said, halting Tsuna, he pulled the bandages away, he reached behind him a plucked a nice brown feather from his back and placed it in her hand and rewrapped the bandages. "That should help a whole lot better."

With a questionable look on her face, Tsuna flexed her burned hand with the feather in it. What was that for, she thought, even thought my palm feels softer now. "Um..thanks Sitoka." She said to him and leaned back in her chair. She was somewhat worn out from what's happened so far today but she was too alert to get to comfortable now. Tsuna kept having this feeling that Xi will throw another 'test' at then in due time

"It might not feel like much," Sikota said, "but that'll help treat the burn a lot faster." Sweat coated most of his unclothed upper body, he looked around to find something to wear or at least use as a makeshift towel. "Nothing." He whispered to himself.

In the doorway of the "recovery room" appeared Ren, auburn hair damp and pressed against his forehead.

"Hey everyone," he replied breathlessly, cheeks flushed from the temperature of the prior room.  "Sorry I'm late."  He strode over to join the others and collapsed in a chair.  It seemed odd that such a room would exist amongst a torture chamber--well, the more he reasoned it, perhaps it wasn't so strange.  Everything on this island seemed full of surprises.

After a moment of taking several deep breaths, Ren glanced over to Tsuna and offered her a grim smile.  "Got hurt?"  And, in Sikota's direction, added: "What might you be looking for?"

Tsuna looked over at the door and saw Ren come in. She looked back at her bandaged hand, grinned and said "Yeah, but i'll be okay soon." Noticing the sweat from everyone's faces made her realized that her skin was damp and wet as well. Ugh, i hate sweating, she thought rubbing the back of her hand against her forehead. Everyone was probably smelling bad right now but nobody noticed.

"Hey, Ren." Sikota started. "Wanna try and come up with another breeze for my wings? Not to mention it'll cool off the rest of us." He gave a light flutter of his blackened and brown feathers.

A small frown creased Ren's brow.  "I could try, but with the temperature of the room out there, I can't guarantee this breeze will be pleasant."  With that he rose from his chair and crossed to the other side of the room, his burgundy overcoat billowing behind him (or, at least I think it was burgundy--I can't remember!).  He rose a hand, and strong winds immediately gusted through the room.  At first it was scorching, relatively close to the temperature of the prior hall, which caused Ren to grimace and waver his hand.  As the moments passed, however, the temperature of the wind dropped, as did its severity.  Within about thirty seconds, a light cool breeze circulated throughout the small room, making it feel as though they'd come from a gym and were now sitting in an air-conditioned environment.

"There; that should help."  He then turned to Sikota, finally noticing that he was still shirtless from the incident outside.  He'd opened his mouth to ask if he intended on walking around the island this way, but then thought better of it.  Who knows, he thought to himself, perhaps he's wanting to do this for Tsuna's benefit.  Having only spent a brief while with Sikota, Ren knew him well enough to know it wouldn't be beyond him.

Kilek flopped into one of the chairs, and heard a low grumble. He started to worry a bit, thinking it was some other test, but he relaxed when he realized it was his stomach. He grabbed one of the canned rations, realizing that all hes eaten since waking up was metal, and he hadnt even actually got to eat that. With an annoyed look, he saw there was no means of opening the can, Was that supposed to be funny? He thought to himself, thinking Xi was trying to make a cruel joke.

Using his shark teeth, tore open the top of the can and began to eat. He looked to the door with the number 2 above it, "What do you suppose that means?" he asked to everyone

Ren watched as Kilek manhandled--or, rather, sharkhandled--a can of food open.  Hesitating slightly, he shoved a can across the table in Kilek's direction.  "Mind opening one for me, too?"  The thought of having a guy open a can of soup with his teeth indeed seem revolting, yet under these circumstances, Ren didn't see another choice.  It was either that or starve to death, and, of course, Ren opted the former.

While waiting for his can to be opened, Ren contemplated the door with the number two.  "To be honest," he said to anyone who cared to listen, "I have a feeling whatever's in there is worse than what we've gone through so far."

And that was saying a lot.

Kilek saw Ren's hesitation in asking for his help. Rather than tearing it open, Kilek opened his jaw and used his teeth to perferrate the top of the can, this wasy was much less messier and did seem as gross.

After opening the can and handing it back, he looked towards the door, he wanted to ask what could be worse than that hallway, but was too afraid that he may very well find out. Instead he found himself staring at the several monitors on the walls, showing the many empty rooms, quietly wondering what might have been in there and why

(This will explain my absence)

Neisan looked back down the hallway. He wanted one of those heat lasers. It could be useful. Neisan carefully sidled up to one, cut off its power supply, and took it off the wall. He coupled it up to his right arm. The he dashed to the now-open door. "Hey guys, sorry I'm late. Got me one of them heat lasers. Ooh, food!" Neisan took aim at one of the cans with his new laser, sawing off the top and cooking it in the process. "Mmm beans." Neisan looked around the room. There was another door across the room. The "2" on it looked menacing.

Ember was hypnotized by the mysterious messages. FO? Be ready? What did it mean? But then she heard a voice. Surprised, she turned quickly, manipulating the air to become a large stick she could use as a weapon in her hand. Then she listened to the guy. Ember proceeded to calm down. "I'm sorry if I scared you. Yeah, I have no clue why we're here either. While you were sleeping, a heli attacked me and three other girls. Anyway, I'm assuming you have some sort of ability. That's probably why we all got transported here. A guy named Xi put us here." she said everything she knew.

Yumi nodded at everyone just kind of zoning out from tiredness."We need to find somewhere then." She told the group.

"So I think we should head further into the woods." She said.

"I mean it's better than staying here." She said.

"Huh," he said calmly, as though Luce was suprised he didn't flinch. He walked over to check out the FO notes and struck out two fingers like a match. On the fingers now was a swirling sphere of plasma energy, which Luce was using as a better light source. "And I thought I was the only freak in the world. Are we in Italy?" Luce looked at Ember with his soothing pink eyes, looking slightly afraid.

"Maybe a tree...or even a building if we get lucky..." Karu wondered.

"Well, lets go." Rasiel sighed, transforming into her stuffed rabbit form, jumping ontop of Karu's head.

Karu sighed and picked up Rasiel's PSP, turning to Fulmen.

"Huh. That's pretty cool." Fulmen said in response to Rasiel's transformation, "Though uh, I guess we should find some shade to sit in...I really don't know. Even more so do I not trust this place one bit- so if we do head into the jungle, I would like if we all stay cautious." Fulmen said this, looking to the group around him, "Though uh, I'm not going to say I'm the leader here...I'm terrible at leading."

Fulmen sighed, rubbing the back of his head at that- feeling a bit off after all of this. It felt too calm now, and it put him on edge.

"Karu could be our leader." Rasiel said, kicking the back of her brothers head with her cotton foot.

"Rasiel is right if you don't want to be a leader. Judgeing by your emotions now, you don't want to be a leader." he explained.

Rasiel slightly smiled after Fulmen complemented.

"I have three forms, human, inadomimte/unliving, and demon." she said, staring at him.

A single road snaked out from the remnants of the house. It seemed to head deeper into the jungle. Whether it lead to someplace nice or someplace sinister it nonetheless sat before them... inviting.

Yumi nodded."Oh,look there's a road!" She told them all.

"Besides I the only one to come up with an idea." She said.

"So either no leaders or I want to be it!" She said.

Ren offered Kilek a sheepish grin after he'd opened the can of soup for him, gratefully accepting it. "Thanks."

It was an odd experience trying to eat soup without a spoon; he dared to admit it was something he'd never considered before.  At first he was worried everyone would stare or frown disapprovingly as he slurped the contents of the can, but it seemed no one had even noticed or were too busy slurping down food themselves.

Once finished, Ren rose from the table, taking the empty can with him to dump in a wastebasket in the corner.  He then turned to the crew. "Well, guys," he began in a determined, authoritative tone. "I think it's time we start examining that door with the number two on it. Are you all prepared?"

Sikota flexed his shoulders and wings. "I'm probably as ready as I can be in this co diction." He stretched. "How's your hand doing Tsuna?"
