Can you use the other system of units?

Posted

This is pretty simple.  If you live in a country that uses Imperial units (inches, feet) then can you use Metric units (meters) and vise versa?

The only one that really throws me of a loop is temperature.  I know that 0 is freezing and 100 is boiling and the 10, 20, 30 thing, but in between I'm lost.  Other than that I have a pretty good understanding of Metric units, mostly length.  You can give me a length in meters and I pretty much how long it is.

What about you?

I am so bad at units I can barely use feet, inches etc.

I didn't even know they were called Imperial units. And no, not at all for the Metric system.

Edit: Answer.

No. I only understand Imperial units.

I grew up with imperial units but metric is just so much easier! I'm trying to figure it out.

well i dont use more than one unit of measure outside of school

I learned metric when I was young and learned imperial as I Americanized, so I have a good grasp of both of them.  I'm expecially good with units used in cooking like mL vs cups/liquid ounces and grams vs ounces/pounds.

I grew up with the Metric system, so I don't understand the Imperial system :P

I can convert pretty well, as Metric units make more sense, but I grew up with Imperial units.  Which is referred to as Standard, as opposed to Imperial, in America, I believe.

I've grown up with the Metric system and it's so easy to understand I wouldn't go out of my way to learn the old way.  The only time I had to was in 2nd year (I would have been 13 years old) and we had to be able to convert them for the exam, but the exam wasn't worth any qualifications just marking progress in the course.

However I still use Stone and pounds for weight, and feet + inches for height.

In school we had to use metric units a lot, and we also had to convert them the given units were feet or whatever.

I can use them separately very well, but I'm not very good at converting between the two.

I can use some, but that doesn't mean that I like to (or ever do, for that matter). :P
