What Makes The Water Temple So hard?

Posted

I mean I don't see why everyone thinks it's the hardest dungeon in OoT. I was able to solve the puzzles very easily the very first time I played it on the N64. It's really not that hard to figure out how to beat that dungeon. It's a lot easier than it looks.

Having to constantly switch with iron boots AND the fact you can misuse a key.

Well, I agree that switching between the iron boots and your normal one is annoying but that doesn't make the temple hard. Nor does the misuse with the key.

it's just a plain psychological trauma for most people xD

My biggest issue with the Water Temple was that all the landmarks looked alike; it was so hard to remember which room had WHAT.  Top that in with having to switch water levels every couple seconds and the fact that only some things require the right water level...yeah, it's pretty confusing.  Granted, after I'd completed it the first time it's pretty simple now, but I know it took me nearly *years* to get through it in my first play-through (but, then again, I was much younger then, too...).

It's a very tedious temple and you have no idea what to do the first time around, it's just a nightmare the first time around. Same for the Great Bay Temple in MM

It's very methodical and tedious; having to switch on and off the boots, the amount of God-forsaken doors, and then having to manage the water level. It may not be hard, but make one mistake and you're done for.

The problem of switching has been fixed in the 3DS version......I've been through much harder dungeons than the water dungeon

It's not HARD. It's just annoying as hell on the N64 version. Like everyone else said, the stupid boots. Changing th water levels, misusing that key. All sorts of stuff lol

I got lost constantly with the switching, the keys, the doors, the SPIKEY THINGYS NEAR THE BOSS DOOR, and yet I managed to beat this temple when I was 6...and couldn't do it again 6 years later... I hate you master quest.

Well it is a Water level. Most people seem to dislike those.

It was never hard for me. It was just firetrucking annoying... boots on boots off boots on boots off boots on boots off boots on boots off. And those firetrucking motherfiretrucker spiky oyster bastards.

Because.... it´s a water temple... underwater.. and the boots... and the key, dat dam key!!! and you get more lost that the Lost woods and... facepalm. It´s hard in 64

To be honest, it is one of the few dungeons I didn't resort to using a guide in*.

*Yes, I am weak.

I would like to quote Jon Tron's opinion on this

"Water Temples? I would rather drown"
