Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix Sales

Recommended Posts

I was looking at some sales figures of Kingdom Hearts games on vgchartz: http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=Kingdom+Hearts

And to me, it seems like Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix is not selling as well as other Kingdom Hearts games, as well as past PS2 to PS3 Remakes. I think this remake is a great deal, you get 3 games for the price of 1. So I'm just wondering why it isn't selling well? Could it be that fans in Japan just want Square to hurry up and make KH3, or do you think there's another reason?

To be fair it's a remaster. Compare it's sales to 3D and it's not doing as good. Some people already have all the games and don't care for the Days scenes or are going to watch them online. I expect that it won't sell as well as with other kh games in NA either (though it might with EU because of Re:com).

Maybe because a lot of people in Japan already have those games, though I would have thought it would do pretty well since it would be on an updated console but I guess not. I would think it would do a little better in NA seeing as we're getting the final mix for the first time, same goes for EU plus they're finally getting Re:CoM.

yeah and Final Mix!!!! It`ll sell well here, garunteed... the only thing "new" to the games besides HD is the Days scenes, and Final Mix being dubbed in Japanese.. otherwise its basically the same games.. But with NA and especially EU we get all games in HD, a Days Movie, Re:CoM (EU) and Final Mix.... now, thats a big deal for NA, and EU it will probably sell even better :)

TBH I wouldn't have expected it to.  Remasters aren't going to be incredibly popular to begin with.  Every game on it was already released in Japan (and America), and as it's been mentioned you could watch the remastered days scenes online.  I think it'll sell better in EU because we never got Re:COM, so it won't just be a collection of games we already have, it'll be something we never got the chance to get or play without importing and modding.

Square Enix just give us KH3!

You are a bad fan and you should feel bad.

But still you would think someone who has every game would still get 1.5, respectively.

Not really, a number of people may play all the games in the series but not be loyally dedicated, I know if Re:COM was released in Europe I'd be much less inclined to buy 1.5

But a number of people imported the FMs, they've been out for so long any huge fan of KH typically would have done so by now, and it's easier to play imported discs in NA because you can buy Swap Magic over there, so only requires soft modding

It probably would've done better if they had completely remade Days, not just given us cutscenes.

You can't really say it's "3 games for the price of 1" since one of those games has been stripped down to the barest minumum of necessary information.

Not to say the game isn't fun, but the Japanese have already played Final Mix and Re:CoM already, so it's not like any of it is even new to them. The only really new part of the collection would be the Days part, and that's only fun to watch through once (if that).

That being said, it'll probably sell better in America and Europe since the games in the collection are actually new to us. Hell, all 3 parts of the collection will be new to Europe, so chances are it'll do amazingly there.

I didnt mean everyone should buy it but you would think the dedicated fans would most likely purchase it.

It's a small amount but still an amount that would affect sales.  There's also the fact with the PS4 coming out a number of people trade in or sell their ps3 to get it, meaning they can't even play it if they wanted to.

If people want a game bad enough they'll import it or get it through illegal methods.

The amount of dedicated fans has been dwindling for a long time now though, so many fans got irritated with the console hopping.  Kingdom Hearts isn't nearly as popular as it once was.

Now, I originally thought about a Japanese PS2 to play Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+. Considering they are releasing KH1.5 in America, They should followup with the Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX, releasing that in america as well. I have little to no interest in Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix, It has 1 new boss and a couple of changes to their original heartless. However, if they were to release 2.5 (provided that it contains KH2FM+) I would give serious thought to buying a PS3.It has data battles for all the Organization Members, A lingering sentiment battle, and extra cutscenes that explain more of the story around Organization XIII, not to mention an extra in-game battle with Roxas (my favorite Kingdom Hearts/Organization XIII character).I have played Kingdom Hearts, but after the main story, it was easy to get bored. Re: Chain of Memories was okay in my opinion, fighting with Cards was definately a new way to challenge the battle system, but I didn't like it as much as just tapping X without worrying when you have to reload. The 358/2 Days remaster seems cool, but I can just view them online whenever I want. However, if an HD 2.5 ReMIX was to come out for PlayStation 3 in America, If it contained KH2FM+, I would give much consideration to buying a PS3 just for that game (Or whatever console it comes out on). An American Release of Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix+, Birth by Sleep Final Mix*, with extra cutscenes from Re: Coded, would be worth buying.

*Earlier I had said that HD 2.5 ReMIX wouldn't contain Birth by Sleep Final Mix, For a time, I had even doubted its creation. Thinking about it now, I must retract what I had said. I realize now that it would only make sense if the two games would be Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Birth by Sleep. They are both for Sony systems, just like they had done with 1.5. Although, I follow my thinking on "putting Birth by Sleep in there would just be out of order." However, Square Enix seems to have "confirmed" that the games will be KH2FM+ and Birth by Sleep and the cutscenes of Re:Coded.(Although Highly Unlikely, HD 2.5 ReMIX could contain the games of KH2FM+ and Re: Coded, with Cutscenes from BbS, just thought I'd throw that out there.)

My point being that it would sell better here in America, because we haven't gotten the Final Mix.

Hopefully when they get their KH3 and realize they don't understand anything cause they decided to boycott the "side" games (just 'cause it's on a handheld doesn't make it a side game) they'll at least get the remix'

I am a fan and I will still buy 1.5 and 2.5, but just because someone is early anticipating KH3 doesn't mean they aren't a real fan. A new game, with new story, gameplay, and graphics will always outsell an hd remake, fan or not. This is just my opinion, and I am still glad Square Enix is still supporting the series.

It's not a matter of early anticipating

It's a matter of the fake fans who got pissed off at the series because there were bringing out releases on consoles they don't have so they disowned it and just keep going "OMG! Don't care! Bring out KH3! I've only played KH1 and 2 and just want KH3 now even though I won't understand ANYTHING that's going on! KH3! KH3! KH3!"

That means they aren't a real fan.  A real fan, even if they don't have the consoles would either save for them, wait for a price drop, get the remix's (people are doing the same thing with the remix's "Why would I want these games they already brought out that I'm obviously boycotting cause anything on a handheld is a side game and doesn't add anything to the main plot DUH"), watch a let's play, cutscenes, or just read the synopsis instead of bitching on every single video/article of a new KH game with "GIVE US KH3 WAH WAH NOW".

And when KH3 finally does come out, those "fans" won't understand anything that's going on because they choose to only play, read about or know about a select number of the games since some were brought out on handhelds while constantly bitching for the game.

I bet more than half the people in this forum are saying that same statement in their mind, even while they play 1.5. I have played all KH games in the series, even the mobile one. It is natural to be eager to play the next big one, and not just HD remakes that seem to be flooding the game market these days. I still preordered 1.5 since it is KH in Hd :) but at the end of the day, we all just want KH3. And I am confused when it is stated that if the fans doesn't play 1.5, then they will be super confused when finally playing and understanding KH3's story. 1.5 is the exact same thing as KH 1 and CM except it is HD. And even if you are a new fan and just played Birth by Sleep, or KH3D, the story of the previous titles were explained there as well, short and sweet.

A fan won't be confused for not playing 1.5.  A fan will be confused for not playing a number of the games because they were released on multiple consoles, a lot of people have played 1 and 2, skipping anything that was brought out on a handheld or after KH2, meaning they've missed

BBS, the prequel,

Days, Roxas' story,

Coded, while a small story gives some information important to 3D,

3D, which sets up the story for KH3 and throws a load of new information that counteracts anything stuff we saw in the previous games, like how Nobodies can cultivate hearts and so are capable of feeling emotion.

And in some cases people may have not got a chance to play COM, but generally it was after KH2 people stopped keeping up with the series

The remix's are the perfect opportunity for those fans to get back into the series (as it's on one console, and a relatively cheap HD pack) and will enable them to actually understand what's going on in KH3, instead of playing it when it comes out going:

"OMG, WHAT'S AXEL DOING BACK AND CALLING HIMSELF LEA FOR, HE DIED IN KH2"

"WHY ARE THERE OTHER KEYBLADE WEILDERS? WHO'S AQUA/TERRA/VEN"

"WHO'S THIS MASTER XEHANORT GUY?"

"WHAT ARE ANSEM SoD AND XEMNAS DOING ALIVE AGAIN"

"WHAT'S THIS ABOUT 7 LIGHTS AND 13 DARKNESSSES?"

"WHY HAS THE ORGANIZATION CHANGED"

"WHAT, 3 PEOPLE ARE IN SORA'S HEART? HEY ROXAS MUST HAVE A TWIN!"

"WHO THE HELL IS THAT GIRL WHO LOOKS LIKE AN EMO LITTLE KAIRI?"

So those "fans" sitting complaining "Give us KH3" won't even enjoy it since they decided to abandon the series and not catch up and what's been happening.
