Guy fakes being disabled on Twitch TV for money

Posted

A wheelchair-bound gamer who regularly appeared on Twitch.tv has been accused of faking his disability after he stood up and walked while on camera. No, he was not broadcasting live from a faith healers temple - he just sort of did it while his camera was on. Now he is facing the outrage and wrath of the gaming community and the punitive verdict of Twitch.tv, according to Eurogamer.

"His actions are a huge slap in the face to Twitch community members with real disabilities such as Aieron, and groups such as AbleGamers, who have helped spread a message of inclusiveness and positivity to not only the Twitch community, but gaming as a whole."

Viewers are not satisfied with a simple shut down of his Twitch channel; they have taken to YouTube and Reddit with pointed words for Hamilton. The whole ordeal is detailed over atDiablowned, who claim that Hamilton raised $20,000 while operating his channel. According to the story posted over there the money was allegedly spent on various electronic items, a $2000 wheelchair and $5000 to move house and live nearer his girlfriend.

Faking a disability is wrong :/ It's terrible that he would actually do that FOR MONEY. Thank goodness he faced consequences for it.

Geez, what a greedy guy. Glad he got what was coming to him. Seriously.

You would think that if you had this scam planned out, you'd be more careful to pull it off. >>

One less ass-wipe to worry about?

Getting up and walking in the middle of a stream in which you claim to be unable to walk. Smartest man ever right here. So glad he's in trouble.

I really don't understand why people fake stuff like this. Of all the scams you could pull, you pick the one that basically mocks disabled people? No one wants a disability, and it's disgusting that people would actually fake having one when there are people who really do have disabilities, and hate having them. It's not something fun so I just don't understand why people like this would dare pretend to have one. If you're going to break the law and pull a scam for money, there are a lot better ways to do it.

The funny thing is.....even the girlfriend was shocked.

That's stupid.
