Personally, I'd see Sora with Victinni and Riku with Zoroark. For Vanitas, Giratina seems a better fit.

Lol why would Sora have a Pikachu,Lucario is much more badass and It would've been cool to see Lucario with a Keyblade full of Aura.

Besides,Lucario is one of my top 5 Pokemon and is actually excellent for competitive battling

 

If there is an overrated Pokemon for me,then I have to say it has to be the creation trio of Gen 4

Riku and Umbreon is an extreme ovious, just like the first poster states (heck Umbreon's my favorite Eeveelution now due to my love for riku jsya yep).

 

 

Since Riku and Sora started out as rivals, Sora should have Espeon. It's only fair.

 

 

And Kairi should have Eevee. Or maybe Sylveon (don't kill me, its just my opinion...).

 

 

 

That leaves Roxas, Namine, and, Xion with Jolt, Vapor, and, Flare. Now I wonder who would have Glaceon and Leafeon....

 

Actually, maybe Flareon should be Axel's. Namine has Vaporeon. Dunno about Xion...

Riku: Pyroar (I know this is odd, but it's a freaking lion, and lions are fearless and Riku wields Braveheart as of KHIII) 

Kairi:Gardevoir (Gardevoir is known as the Embrace Pokemon, Kairi's Keyblade is called Destiny's Embrace, and Kairi is a Princess of Heart, and Gardevoir resembles a princess so why not?)

 

Ventus: Togekiss (I know a bit weird but you'll see why when I come to Vanitas) 

Terra: Krookadile (Represents his darkness and his name being Latin for earth) 

Aqua: Kingdra (Represents her name and her status as a Keyblade Master)

Is this probably the most lousiest Pokemon for Sora to have, Klefki?

Sora - Arboliva (Female) (Grass/Normal), Bibarel (Male) (Normal/Water), Pyroar (Female) (Fire/Normal), Girafarig (Male) (Normal/Psychic), Grafaiai (Male) (Poison/Normal), and lastly, Cyclizar (Shiny/Male) (Dragon/Normal). The thought process here was that Sora is the most normal (in the down to earth sense) of the protagonist characters in KH, but he's also the most widely versatile in his strengths so I tried to construct a strong team of Pokemon that have Normal as one of their dual types. 

Riku - Meowscarada (Female) (Grass/Dark), Greninja (Male) (Water/Dark), Houndoom (Shiny/Male) (Dark/Fire), Morpeko (Male) (Electric/Dark), Lokix (Female) (Bug/Dark), and lastly, Hydreigon (Male) (Dark/Dragon). The thought process here was that Riku is a strong and dependable soul that simply can't escape the darkness no matter how much he tries or how hard he tries to use it for good instead of evil. I tried to construct a team that could really tell the story of Riku's journey from where he was in KH1 up until the present canon of the series without ever condemning or condoning his less than acceptable actions along the way. 

Kairi - Leavanny (Female) (Grass/Bug), Tapu Fini (Female) (Water/Fairy), Salazzle (Shiny/Female) (Poison/Fire), Dedenne (Male) (Electric/Fairy), Nidoqueen (Female) (Ground/Poison), and lastly, Baxcalibur (Male) (Ice/Dragon). The thought process here was to construct a team that reflects the hidden power and potential of Kairi that we've had hints of over the course of the series, but still haven't seen fully manifested or displayed; in addition to it reflecting what little of a personality we've seen from Kairi. I also tried to highlight her special status within the lore as a princess of heart, by keeping the overlap of types for the Pokemon I chose for her at a minimum (I was so happy that the only overlaps were for the Fairy and Poison typing). 

Namine - Lunala (Female) (Psychic/Ghost), Chandelure (Female) (Ghost/Fire), Magearna (Female) (Steel/Fairy), Frosmoth (Female) (Ice/Bug), Decidueye (Male) (Grass/Ghost), and lastly, Dragapult (Male) (Dragon/Ghost). I didn't really have a thought process here, but rather words/phrases that can be used to describe Namine that I tried to reflect in the choice of Pokemon for the team. I.E "Struggling to be accepted as her own person, rather than someone's other self." / "Callous to a fault." / "Remarkably dangerous as both an enemy and an ally." - If even a little bit of that actually shows in the team I ended up going with for her then I'm happy with it. 

Axel - Volcanion (Male) (Fire/Water), Scovillain (Male) (Grass/Fire), Armarouge (Female) (Fire/Psychic), Krookodile (Male) (Ground/Dark), Bombirdier (Female) (Flying/Dark), and lastly, Overqwil (Female) (Dark/Poison). I tried to capture Axel's double agent status with this team, as well as the wide ranged personality he's shown over the course of the series. 

Roxas - Drapion (Male) (Poison/Dark), Shiftry (Male/Shiny) (Grass/Dark), Tyranitar (Male) (Rock/Dark), Cobalion (Male) (Steel/Fighting), Skarmory (Female) (Steel/Flying), and lastly, Arctovish (Female) (Water/Ice). The thought process here was, "Power, power, and more power!" because well, it's Roxas. But I did try to keep things balanced. 

Xion - Crobat (Male/Shiny) (Poison/Flying), Empoleon (Male) (Water/Steel), Armaldo (Male) (Rock/Bug), Flygon (Female) (Ground/Dragon), Pawmot (Female) (Electric/Fighting), and lastly, Wigglytuff (Female) (Normal/Fairy).

I went about this one the same way I did with Namine. The most important part for me here was to include a Pokemon that evolves through friendship since Xion values her friendship with Axel and Roxas so much. Its shiny status is supposed to reflect the fact that Roxas held on to the memories of her even after both of them had returned to Sora.

For the rest of the mons on the team some of the phrases/words that I was thinking about while picking them were, "Fiercely determined." / "Strong sense of self." and the quotes "You're the real sham!" / "Roxas, that's a stick." as well as the nickname "Little Poppet." that she got from Xigbar. 

Ventus - Leafeon (Female) (Grass), Simisear (Male) (Fire), Politoed (Male/Shiny) (Water), Ampharos (Male) (Electric), Silvally (Female) (Normal), and lastly, Wobbuffet (Male) (Psychic). I tried to condense Ven's mostly positive and playful personality into this team. I also went decided to switch from dual-types to mono-types for Ven and the rest of the Wayfinder Trio to switch things up a little bit. 

Terra - Sceptile (Male) (Grass), Entei (Male) (Fire), Poipole (Female) (Poison), Hariyama (Male) (Fighting), Groudon (Male) (Ground), and lastly, Mightyena (Male) (Dark). I tried to condense strength, bravery, and boldness into this team. Three things Terra tries and sometimes succeeds/sometimes fails to be throughout this journey in the series thus far. I also made an effort to make the team strong, but not over the top strong, in order to try and capture the touch of gentleness that always accompanies Terra's raw strength and power. 

Aqua - Glastrier (Male) (Ice), Goodra (Female) (Dragon), Vaporeon (Female) (Water), Serperior (Male) (Grass), Mismagius (Female) (Ghost), and lastly, Corvisquire (Male) (Flying). This team is something of a mishmash on purpose. I tried to form a team for Aqua that would reflect how unprepared for the outside worlds she really was when she was first sent off after passing the Mark of Mastery exam. At the same time I wanted some parallel Pokemon for her with her fellow Wayfinders (The fact both she and Terra have grass type starters in their team; The fact both she and Ventus have Eeveelutions).

Isa - Ceruledge (Male) (Fire/Ghost), Munkidori (Male) (Poison/Psychic), Aurorus (Male) (Rock/Ice), Gliscor (Male) (Ground/Flying), Duraludon (Male) (Steel/Dragon), and lastly, Ludicolo (Male) (Water/Grass). I tried to construct a strong, but not unforgivingly so team. I included mons that can only evolve at night to parallel Isa growing more powerful in moonlight as Saix. And Ceruledge is of course included in this team to parallel with Axel having Armarouge.
