I just have a few questions about the game.  First and foremost, is there an actual reason for why they changed the name to FFXV?  I've been a bit curious as to why that change was made.  Also, I never got the reasoning for them naming it Versus XIII, does it have something to do with the game itself at all?  Sorta silly questions, but I still wanted to ask about it

Probably 'cause there's FF XIII, XIII-2 and XIII-Lightning Returns already.  

They're just moving onto the next number, it doesn't make a difference in game but it'll help not confuse fans into thinking it's another spin off of 13.  

To be honest, I've been wondering the same exact thing. Square Enix has their ways. Very strange ways that it.

Because Nomura didn't want his game to be associated with XIII anymore.

Because they made sequels to XIII already final fantasy versus XIII-2 would just confuse the hell out of people so my guess is for sequel purposes because they have high hopes for the game like the rest of the world

Probably same reason why they changed Final Fantasy Agito XIII to Final Fantasy Type-0.

The reason why it was called Versus XIII is because it belongs to the Fabula Nova Crystalis, the FNC is a series of stories that don't have anything to do with each other but have the same setting (I think). FF XIII, XIII-2, Lightning Returns, and FF Type-0 (Originaly FF Agito XIII) all belong to the FNC. As for why they changed the name to XV i don't know, but in an interview with Nomura at E3 he did say why, I just forgot.

Read all the news about KH3 and FF XV during E3.

well versus was aimed at the ps3 initially, so maybe they thought fans wouldnt notice it was the same game if they changed its name and moved it up to ps4
