KH3 trailers will be misleading?

Posted

Looking back at the other KH trailers and most recent KH3D, you can tell how misleading they really are.  I was rewatching some of the DDD trailers and most of the things you'd think were to happen didn't.

I mean how mindfiretrucking will the KH3 trailers be?  I'm sure everyone will be hyped to some degree, but I bet somethings will just be super confusing.

For example, part of the trailer could have Terra with Aqua and Ven in the Land of Departure happy.  Everyone is like yay, they're back together.  Then when you start playing the game, you find out it's just a scene in the form of a flashback.

Or you see all the Guardians of Light and Seekers of Darkness clashing.  When you open your game, you realize it's just the opening sequence to the game and it won't actually happen as big of a battle as it's shown.

I just think the trailers do a great job of misleading you.  I think it can be good sometimes, in that we don't really know the story until we actually see it, but it's also such a tease.  It makes me mistrusting of the trailers.

The only trailer that changed a lot was 3D because it was rushed.

These one for KH3 is just a teaser to show how things can look like.

Not relying on trailer you still have nomura interviews that already explain a lot of how things will work in KH3

First impression from BBS' release: Where in god's name did "X-Blade" come from

At that early stage where they're literally just playing around with ideas and making a concept trailer, not a final game trailer, I don't consider it misleading, the development process is a long ass process that's subject to change along the way.  Unfortunately there's a lot of fans who aren't aware of this and now with access to the internet will most likely be crying if the game doesn't turn out exactly like the beta trailer.

I'm not gonna spoil KH3 for myself like I did with BBS and 3D if it's the last thing I do I will watch as few trailers as possible and I swear on every past relative's grave that as soon as it gets anywhere near the release date I am leaving this site and shall not return until I have beaten the game twice!

I don't mean the beta trailer as of now.  I mean the upcoming trailers in general.  Even if many things are changed and finalized in interviews, I can still see some misdirection happening just from the final trailers alone.

I've never really thought the trailers were misleading. If anything I felt like they gave too many hints. I knew way too much about BBS and DDD from the trailers; I mean, the first teaser for BBS was the game's climax! They need to do a better job of getting people excited for the game without using the most exciting parts of the game, weird as that sounds.

I'm torn between wanting to avoid watching trailers for this game and having a desperate need to see more of KHIII the moment it becomes available. DDD's didn't spoil the overall plot, but it did show a lot of moments I would've liked to see unfold as they were happening, especially towards the end of the game. My hope is that they avoid showing anything from the last 50% of KHIII in the trailers.

The sudden flash of main characters in the ending of the Special Trailer.  It made it seem that Sora and maybe Riku, were going to save everyone in this game, thus leading to the concluding game of the saga, KH3 with everyone of their friends there to help against Xehanort.

Vanitas appearing was also a bit of a surprise.  Although it was an emphasis on those connected to Sora and the hearts inside him at the time, it was still a bit confusing.  It felt as if everyone was going to play a much bigger role, not just small appearances here and there.

Lastly, Red Eyes.  The Nightmare.  The physical manifestation of Sora's dreams.  Everyone had speculated it might have had something to do with the secret bonus boss in Birth By Sleep that Aqua had to fact in the Realm of Darkness, Hunter of the Dark.  Of course, it had no correlation.

I never thought they were going to save everyone since the plot involved the sleeping worlds and Sora and Riku taking the Mark of Mastery exam, not searching for TAV or anyone else, just that they were going to be shown. I don't know how you infer those characters get "saved" just from seeing them once.

Vanitas appearing wasn't a surprise because he was in one of the trailers. In fact, the only scene he was in at all was shown in the trailer! Having people feel like they should play a bigger role then not isn't actually a good thing either, though I'll grant you it's manipulative.

I thought Red Eyes would have a connection to Vanitas given his description from the novels, not the Hunter in the Dark. (I personally believe that Vanitas was given Nightmare form while Sora slept in the same manner Riku was given Spirit form, hence the emblem on his back and Red Eyes being the only humanoid Nightmare.) Regardless of his origins, Red Eyes was one of the last bosses you fight, and there was no need to show him in a trailer at all; placing his image among the characters they did in the trailer implied he was someone of significance, and instead of having his appearance be a surprise or interesting turn, I was waiting throughout the whole game to see when he would show up.

I should clarify my position; I don't mind if the trailers are misleading, but the previous one's were manipulative using spoilers or significant moments. Having those in my head while experiencing the game sapped some of the experience itself from me, and I don't think KHIII's trailers should do that.

The trailers are just concepts. Nothing else. Just look back at the KH2 trailer for a perfect example. It's trailer was only a concept and mainly took place in Days.

Well, in BBS's trailer the scenes were almost the same as the were in the finished game, but just set in different areas.

I wouldn't even know what to expect for KH3's case.

Never trust the first few trailers. Things can completely change by the time the game comes out.

Yeah, exactly. This is why I don't speculate the game until the game is near a release date (but that will be a while).

I'm kind of glad they're misleading, that way when I play the game I'm more surprised

One should not simply believe everything he'she sees in a KH trailer.

Well we know the first trailer might have nothing to do with the actual game. Just look at it. It was just to show us what the game will look like.
