Hey guys and gals, I don't do topics often in here, it's about 5 a.m. where I live and me and a buddy of mine started talking about some upcoming games and the oh so fabled console war yesterday. And we started thinking why is it that in the gaming community do some of us start basically chasing one another with pitchforks and torches for our preferences in consoles and games? I at least think it doesn't matter if you like Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or the so called superior race PC, don't we all share one thing in common...our love for games. Of course there are people who prefer X over Y but that doesn't necessarily mean that we have to look down on the other for our likes or dislikes. On the other hand we should just appreciate other games and consoles and be proud of the fact that we're all gamers.

What do you think it is that makes some gamers like that, could it be fanboyism, pure unadulterated trolling or just a matter of maturity? 

Exactly, games are games no mater what you play them on. We're all gamers!

Get the console you prefer and move on. If you love third-party exclusives and the best hardware go PlayStation 4. If you love Nintendo's franchises go Wii U. If you want an All-In-One device go Xbox One. 

Look, I'm going to be honest. I'm a PlayStation fanboy. The other consoles can go die in a hole, ET on Atari style.

That's cool man, its your choice  if you prefer the PlayStation over the other console, I myself play more on my PS3, PC and 3ds more but the thing I'm trying to say is that there's no need for the so called war, aren't we all gamers in the end?

The only reason why there is a console war is because each person has their own preference and likes to shove it down the throats of the next person saying na na na boo boo my console is better then yours. And then that person fires back saying the exact same thing.

For some odd reason console wartards loooove hating on people who plays on another console that they don't like

 

You like Sony,Xbox Fans will come to talk shit about Ps3

 

You like Xbox,Sony fans will come to say their console is better

I HATE and loathe those self-proclaimed "Hardcore gamers" who think they're obligated to shove up their preferences up my ass and push me away from what I like

 

We should be grateful to the fact that WE CAN PLAY VIDEO GAMES and that the gaming industry didn't crash again.

 

But let me tell you this,I feel we'll gonna be the reason why the industry might crash in the future

There are going to be debates and yes they do tend to get out of hand most of the times, not everyone has the same gaming preferences and I am one that likes to discuss and debate about this topic but in a civilized and logical manner not in the "I'm an ex military sniper graduated at the top of my class blah blah blah...." know what I mean?

Just saying what's on my mind thanks and those "hardcore gamers" from every side be it Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo or the pc are one of the major reasons why this stupid so called war wont have an end. Discussion is fine its all good to debate or whatever but taking time out of your so called day just to comment on how much x game or x console sucks is kinda pointless...And on the last thing yeah I can see that being the crash for the industry

Arcade cabinets no longer works and Atari's consoles started crashing and almost the entire industry was dying back then.....until the NES came out to save the day

People like to be superior.  So some feel the need to put down others to ensure that they're received at the number one.  For me I personally like to separate the community.  There's the gamers, who actually game on what they like because it's what they like and happily welcome others without the need to put them down.  Then there's fanboys who's only contribution to the gaming community is slagging off someone else.  We try not to associate with them.

I like Playstation and Nintendo, but don't like Xbox. Does that mean i bash Xbox fans for liking that console? No. I just leave them be. If they want to choose that console, fine, they're choice. Im happy with what I chose, because THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS TO ME ALONE.
