Posted July 19, 201312 yr Lets see which one of the two are better My personal Favorite Is VII. It has the atmosphere, the charcters and the way they developed, the sidequests, the mini games, I loved the materia system, the story, and the limit breaks.
July 19, 201312 yr This is an argument just waiting to happen... FFVI is not only my favorite of the two, but my favorite in the series. I was incredibly attached to the characters, it has my favorite major antagonist in gaming history, the Esper system was brilliant. The storyline was fantastic, and had a lot of emotional twist, probably the only FF game aside from maybe IV to make me feel sorrow for any characters.
July 19, 201312 yr Both are overrated to a degree. If i had to pick from those two it would be VII however, VIII is my personal favorite of the series and is greatly under appreciated by the masses.
July 19, 201312 yr XII is killer I'll go with VII, but I'm not that much into both to give a more detailed explanation
July 19, 201312 yr Final Fantasy VI. Because the story is absolutely fantastic. Kefka is an amazing villain and just insane. Terra is a very strong lead character. Oh and the overall game is probably one of the greatest games ever made. It's not fair to compare VI to VII considering both are on separate platforms, a fairer judgement would be to compare, VII to VIII and IX. But eh. Also, too many people will say VII is the best because it's the only one they've played alongside X and XIII. Edited July 19, 201312 yr by KHSoraKeyBlade

I can see why people like kefka, and I think sephiroth is a equally good villan. The esper system and materia system were similar but i liked how you could equip the summons you wanted to summon and have the magic that you needed at the moment. You didn't have to grind with a character for them to have a certain spell. While I like the storyline in ff6 to a degree, I felt like it was a bit too simple and didn't intrigue or suprise me like ff7 did though. I grew close to the characters in final fantasy VII because they all were extremely developed (with the exception of yuffie, aerith, and vincent. Although Vincent gets developed in his own game) Final Fantasy VI. Because the story is absolutely fantastic. Kefka is an amazing villain and just insane. Terra is a very strong lead character. Sephiroth was insane

Sephiroth was insane I'm honestly unable to care about Sephiroth, he's just too boring to me. I preferred Esper over Materia because not only did it require more work, it also allowed you to keep a spell even after unequipping Magicite. FFVI's story had a lot of memorable moments, such as Celes at the start of the second half. Final Fantasy VI. Because the story is absolutely fantastic. Kefka is an amazing villain and just insane. Also, too many people will say VII is the best because it's the only one they've played alongside X and XIII. Exactly, a lot of people only played the more recent ones, which clouded their judgement. How many FF fans have actually played the first five games? The number seems way smaller than it should be. Also, I agree with all of your points for VI. I'd like to add that Celes also did very well as a lead role in the second half of the game. FFVI is the only FF game I've given a perfect 10/10 score, and there's a reason why.
July 19, 201312 yr Terra was always kind of sad. And I would consider Kefka to be evil, not insane. Sephiroth was insane I meant he was just an insanely cool character. I do not care for Sephiroth in the slightest, he had a cool theme song and a long sword, that's it. There is nothing wrong with a character being sad, Terra was never sad to the point where she was constantly depressed all the time and it was irritating, I personally found her a great character. Also, you must remember that VI was on the SNES so the combat/gameplay system was very limited to what it could do in comparison to what VII did on the PS1. From a personal view, it's unfair to compare both games, I love VI a lot and its story is just brilliant. It's up there with IX as my favourite FF game, but VII is and always will be just a severely over-rated game and this is coming from someone who owns FF7, Advent Children and Crisis Core. I've tried my level best to see why people love it but I just can't get into the obsession of it, the story isn't great and the battle system is tiresome. I've played all of them except the online ones. I'm not saying the story in FF6 was bad, It was just a very simple story. I do agree, Celes was a very good character in the first and second half of the game. I love Final Fantasy VII atmosphere and story much more. The characters are very good in both games, 7's just left much more of an impact on me because they all got much more screen time and dialogue.

I wouldn't call VI underrated, but it's definitely my favorite in the series, and a lot of the people that got into FF during the Sony era are too caught up in their 3D/realistic FF games to recognize that Nintendo's FF games were great as well. Also, I completely agree with what you said about Sephiroth. There really isn't much to his character other than that.

But In the End it's all left up to opinion. The atmosphere, story, music, characters, and huge overworld with tons of stuff to do is why i like 7 so much. I notice the graphics in 7 are horrible, and so did everyone else who bought it on psn and made it #1 best selling, We don't only like sephy because he's a badass, but also because he's batshit insane and will do anything to achieve his goal Edited July 19, 201312 yr by Cuccojenkins

July 19, 201312 yr I'll put in my own two cents. Different people will be interested in different plots and different characters, regardless of their actual development. FFVI vs VII debates are a dime a dozen. If you're arguing over which one is better then you'll never get anywhere. There are no objective merit to either one of them. Debate all you want, but just know you won't reach any conclusion. I find it's less effort to just enjoy both.
July 19, 201312 yr I prefer VII because of the characters and the story.VI was good, but its not my second favorite
July 20, 201312 yr It´s hard to say... FFVI VII and IX are on the top. I can´t choose between these three. However by certain characteristics... I don´t know...
July 20, 201312 yr This is tough. From what ive seen VII is great and so is VI. But, i think i like VII, because of the story and everything. Crisis Core helped my decision with that alot.
July 31, 201312 yr VIII well both are overrated to a degree (along with X) but i would say VII, though i'm in the middle of playing VI i've just had more memorable moments with VII
