July 30, 201312 yr Me: OH MAH GAWD, XION DON'T MAKE ME CRY AGAAAAAAAIN! Roxas babeh, don't leave! Oh cool, Aqua and Terra! *gets excited whenever Ventus is shown because I love Castle Oblivion*
July 30, 201312 yr Popular Post I liked that Sora's recollection of Xion and Namine was fleeting, but resonating. The audience knows the significance of them, but of course, to Sora's knowledge, he only has the barest knowledge of Namine, and has never met Xion at all. The fact that they run at the end also shows how Sora can't catch these memories; Xion is gone for good, and Namine erased the parts that mattered. The talk with Roxas was great, and was one of the few parts of DDD that I thought was exceptional. You get the sense that Roxas is still a little peeved with Sora, and he hasn't quite got over the fact that he doesn't get to exist, but has learned to accept it. But for Sora, this is really the first time he's gotten to see Roxas in the flesh, so to speak, and of course, he says the one thing that Roxas wants to hear: he is his own person. And given that Roxas is a walking existential crisis, this seems to comfort him a great deal. Also, I loved the irony of Roxas making Sora see his story: considering that Roxas had to live through Sora's during the opening of KHII, it's only fitting that Sora have to suffer the same thing. Seeing Terra, Aqua, and Ven reminded me that Terra, Aqua, and Ven exist. So, yeah. The first two meetings were enjoyable.
July 30, 201312 yr Xions was too subtle, along with Naminés. TVA, was sad. I really liked it. Roxas' was sad too, but the scene was a bit rushed.
July 30, 201312 yr I was glued to the screen of my ds just taking it all in. The music the words the emotions... it was a very sad and emotional scene. I did not cry though.
July 30, 201312 yr When I saw Roxas, I squealed. Considering how Sora never really met or had a real conversation with Roxas, I wanted that, I wanted Sora and Roxas to talk. And everything they said to each other was meaningful. My only beef with that scene was Sora's face when he experienced Roxas's pain, almost ruined it for me.

July 30, 201312 yr Well, my overall reaction was "EEEEE finally things in the plot are coming together! Aqua and Roxas in the same game! Who knew the story would actually move forward for a change?" Now, onto the individual scenes. Namine and Xion was brief but poignant. You get the sense that Sora knows they're important somehow, but he can't pinpoint what. Even so, he sheds a tear, and they both disappear before he has the chance to come to grips with what just happened. When he does, they're already gone--just like before. He can't remember Namine and no one remembers Xion, and even though they're both forgotten, they're still there. Roxas was the most emotional for me. After an existence of clinging to the shreds of an identity to call his own, he's brought himself to claim he's just Sora, nothing more than extension of him, so anything he felt and experienced was meaningless. For Roxas's entire existence, everyone--even his best friends--told him he has no heart or that he has no right to exist. Circumstances conspired against him the whole time, so there was no evidence pointing to the contrary. The Organization was lied to about not having hearts, but he and Xion needed to go back to Sora. There was no way around it. With everyone telling him he was nothing but a Nobody--a mere extension of Sora or a keyblade-wielding tool--you can imagine Roxas no longer had reason to give consideration to his own wishes. Then Sora comes along and tells him something no one has ever said to him before: that he has the right to be his own person. It feels so relieving to hear someone finally, FINALLY telling him those simple words. And you can't argue with it when the person saying it is Sora. Terra, Aqua, and Ventus were also brief. While admittedly they didn't give me quite the same reaction as the others did, it was relieving to see them again. BBS takes place the earliest chronologically, and aside from Mickey and Yen Sid, who knows how long it was before anyone remembered they so much as existed?
July 31, 201312 yr I had the feeling it was about time they begin to involve them in the story again.
