What the title says. I mean it always bothered me so much, I never understood or why. 

I always thought it had something to do with proximity to Ventus, with that heart fiasco and all, but I don't know for sure either.

If it's just because he's a nobody, then that's really weird. Then the other nobodies (or even Namine) would randomly collapse as well. If its just the combination of Ven's Heart + Nobody then I guess that makes a tiny bit of sense but I really don't see it...

I think it's mostly cuz Sora and Ven are already their real selves, and Roxas is a "shell" of them...so yeah, he reacts to their presence and collapses.

He was too close to Sora and Ventus because Roxas has Sora's body and Ventus's heart.

Ventus' s heart was reacting to its presence near his body. Sora's heart was wanting his body back to be whole. All that came together and Roxas collapsed. It was like he was being torn into two.

I haven't gotten into any in depth KH discussions in quite a while so excuse me if I'm rusty If I'm correct, Roxas held Ven's heart correct? That's why he looked like him in the first place and why he could cry and feel true emotion. When Sora entered the castle he had already cast off Ven's heart to Roxas before the end of KH 1. Therefore Sora no longer had much of a connection to Ven. So being that close to him had no effect on him. While Roxas had his heart and had been going through a lot of stressful shit prior to entering Castle Oblivion.

Roxas is the Nobody of Sora but looks like Ventus since he contains Ventus's heart. 

Correct me if Im wrong (I haven't been paying too much attention to KH lately)

 

I think it's because Roxas gotten way to close to his actual 'self' as he is this empty hollow vessel carrying Ven's heart. 

Well if Roxas has Ven's heart it might be because his heart is trying to return to Ven 

 

This way if Ven's Heart went to Roxas it means Sora didn't have until they joined back at the end of KH2 which would explain why Sora didn't collapse when he was at Castle Oblivion
