Bottom line is you shouldnt keep secrets from your parents, just look what happened to lelouch in code geass or light in death note, these are two realistic examples of what happens when you keep secrets like that. (i dont mean youll die, i mean it will make things awkward and it will be nagging you when you talk too them, not to mention theres that feeling that you are worried they will find out)

As long as its not sexual or something tell them, i've said awful things too my parents but they get over it faster than you think. since i doubt its sexual you should be fine so just take my word for it, they will get over it.

try maybe saying, i want to be honest with you, promise you wont judge me because of this too harshly but i felt i had to admit it to you. Then show them a video and let things go from there. Maybe they will make an exception and you can work out a schedule that you can do it from there.

If you tell them and they say stop tell them to firetruck the hell off

If they ask, just tell them. My parents never asked so I never told them. Not sure if they trust me or just don't firetrucking care. I honestly wish they did though, because imagine if I really WERE one of the people who flashes myself on cam and talks to sexual predators... great now a wave of neglect just hit me.I guess so long as you're not doing anything bad it should be fine. I know everybody's different but if they ASK, then tell them. If not then don't. I have friends who write fan fictions, have deviantarts etc. and show their parents all the time.I guess it just depends on the person. (:

My kneejerk reaction is to say no because I don't feel the need to tell my parents anything about my interests unless it directly concerns them, which is just about never.  Most of what I do is really none of their business (they have no idea I frequent this site, let alone know what Kingdom Hearts is), so I never felt the need to tell them.  They either don't understand it or they just don't care, which is fine with me.

It's understandable they monitored your Youtube activity when you were twelve.  I personally think it's ballsy they allowed you access to Youtube at all, given what kinds of things are on there, like the *shudder* comments section.  I don't know how old you are now but they might or might not trust you a little more to not do something stupid.  I don't know your parents but for all I know, telling them would be more trouble than it's worth.  Sure, it's inconvenient to wait for them to leave for when you make videos, but what's even more inconvenient is all the questions (and possibly awkwardness) that would come from them knowing what you do--"What are you doing?""What kind of video is this?""Why is this comment telling you he had sex with me?" etc.  Well, it'd be inconvenient for me, at least.

If you were like me,I probably would never mention it.Just like how I like romance anime/visual novels I would never let them know about it.In my case though,I'm just kinda some what really embarrsed about them.I do think if you tell your parents, they might not trust because they don't know the kind of things you would do cause your older.Basically,I agree with dracozombie.

well if you dont want them to check every video and tell everyone about it then i would suggest that you show them a few of your videos to show them that they dont have anything to worry about in the videos and then ask them to respectfully not probe too much into your youtube life.

Well that escalated quickly and I've never seen that side of you :/

How do i tell my parents i have a youtube channel? Before cuccojenkins, I had another youtube channel when i was 12 that was shitty smosh rip-offs with one of my friends, and i told my parents when i made it and they checked it literally every day and i had to show them the video before i uploaded it, and they decided to tell EVERYONE they knew about it. the reason i feel i need to tell my parents this is because i cant find much time to record anything aside from when they're gone and they would be weirded out and yell "WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO!!!" during recording. How would i tell them about cuccojenkins? Do you think they would accept it since im a couple years older now?

anyway that's a tough one what type of vids you put up? if it's gaming stuff or AMV's or whatever, i'd say going for it

I'm very against parents controlling their children.  I personally was always given the freedom to do what I want and have the most supportive loving mother in the world.  I think parents who deny their children the right to a life need to take a parenting course.

well nowadays most moms are over protective super-strict soccer moms. You're lucky.
