Question about Roxas and Duel wielding.

Posted

I apologise if this has been explained or brought up before, but isn't the reason why Roxas is able to duel wield because he can use the power of Vens keyblade/heart to help wield the Oathkeeper and Oblivion?

In KH3 when Ventus heart gets returned to him and Roxas somehow returns ( I don't know how this will be possible yet) Will this mean that Roxas will no longer be able to duel wield due to him not using the power of Ven which Sora had?

There is probably a good explanation for this, I'm just dumb :P

Yes.  Roxas can only duel wield because he uses Ven's keyblade, who's heart is trapped inside his somebody.  He gained this ability after he absorbed Xion, and Sora gained it when he absorbed Roxas.  As such when Ven is saved and returned to his normal body, neither of them will be able to duel wield, unless fanservice demands it then Nomura will work it back into the story like "Oh now they're older they're more powerful and can summon extra keyblades out of their ass"

Well in the Sonic universe they literally pull chaos emeralds out of their ass, so anything is possible.

Nomura will probably have to work Duel wielding in because it was so popular from a game play perspective, Drive forms and the Command deck are probably the two most popular gameplay elements in the series, maybe the heart still leaves a lingering effect even when its gone? I dunno. That could solve it, but Nomura will probably use some of his Nomura magic to make this work.

I believe Dual Wielding will return either way. Story wise it makes sense that Ven's heart is why either can dual wield, but from the explanation I keep getting from playing KH2 over and over again. Sora's clothes were magical and gave him the ability to change forms. His forms allowed him to dual wield based on the way the fairies were putting it. Due to this I believe Sora is naturally capable of dual wielding keyblades in drive forms, not because of Ven's heart. Also, I think people relate Sora's drives to Ven rather than his magical clothes which were obviously noted by the fairies to be the reason he can change form. Also a side note: Instead of using Donald's magic to change form when entering Pride Lands like they did in Atlantica, Sora's clothes apparently made him change into lion form there.

Sora would be able to trio wielding.

The clothes gave him the power to tap into Ven's heart. Because he was able to tap into Ven's heart he was able to dual wield. It's the same as Xion's death giving Roxas the power to tap into Ven's heart.

Nope . The clothes the faeries used were to TAP INTO SORA"S HIDDEN POTENTIAL . Therefore , since Ven's heart gave him the ability to use a second keyblade ( which  he clearly doesn't know about let alone PURPOSELY summons)the clothes tap into something he had hidden- an ability he didn't realize he had. If you had listened to what the faeries actually said you would realize this since they explained this.  Clothes don't give you keyblades- they are tied to the heart . Sora has two keyblades- his and Ven's- when he dual wields.

Here I added Nomura's own words too :

Q4: Why can Roxas dual-wield?

A: Because he can use both Soras and Ventus keyblades.

Sora can wield two keyblades at once because he has Ventus as well as his own. As Roxas is a part of Sora, he also can use two. In Days Roxas awakened his ability to dual wield after fighting Xion. In KHII once Sora absorbs him, he can also dual-wield.

Yes.  Roxas can only duel wield because he uses Ven's keyblade, who's heart is trapped inside his somebody.  He gained this ability after he absorbed Xion, and Sora gained it when he absorbed Roxas.  As such when Ven is saved and returned to his normal body, neither of them will be able to duel wield, unless fanservice demands it then Nomura will work it back into the story like "Oh now they're older they're more powerful and can summon extra keyblades out of their ass"

yea pretty much this

I also think it's because he absorved Xion, but Nomura states that he awakened while fighting her... To me, the first one makes a lot more sense, but Flaming Lea already made that very clear xP

Sora would be able to trio wielding.

Just a detail: Sora is the only charatcer so far to have used three Keyblades (I saw that on Kingdom Hearts Wiki xP). Though it's not said when, it probably refers to his fight against Roxas, since the reaction Command allows you to steal his two Keyblades.

People get this confused all the time . Roxas awakened Ven's keyblade after fighting and absorbing Xion -- but he didn't gain a keyblade from her since hers wasn't real but a fake. The emotional trauma of Xion's death awakened the ability from Ven's heart and that's why he gains the second keyblade after Xions death.

Eh wha? What did you read?

That Sora was able to steal his keyblades? I have just found this.

I was just joking xP

It's because you said Sora would be able to trio wielding. So i mentioned that in KH2 Final Mix, during his fight against Roxas, you can kinda steal the Nobody's Keyblades and make a trio wielding.

Something I was wondering about Roxas' duel wielding since playing Days is why did he started using it after Xion died and not before. At the time I thought the other keyblade was that of Xion's but learned he can duel wield due to Ventus' heart.

Lea hit it on the head, this is why.

I thought we were able to dual wield in-game before that cutscene where Sora absorbed Roxas? I could be wrong, it's been like, KH2's release year since I've played it...lol
