What I really hate about Japanese developers these days is how most of them are trying to make their games be more like Western games like CoD and Skyrim all because those games are really popular. Take Square-Enix for example, if I recall from them they said that they want Lightning Returns to beat Skyrim or be something like Skyrim except "better".Or when they made that Tomb Raider reboot be similiar to Uncharted all because people like these kind of games more than JRPG games. I really hate how Japanese devs want to make their games be like the games in the West like CoD, Unchartec, Skyrim, ect. It's reasons like this why Resident Evil 6 was crap. Capcom decidedvto go the Call of Duty route just because CoD is one of the best selling games in the world. Japanese companies shouldn't try to make their games be like someone else's game series just because it's more popular. Japanese developers are really starting to have self elsteem issues this gen all because Western games like CoD, Uncharted, ect are more popular. Japanese devs should stop trying to make their games be like another game series and just continue with their own thing. I mean seriously, whenever I read some article about a Japanese game it's always " we want our game to be like CoD just because a lot ofvpeople like that game" bull crap. Imho I think shooters like CoD are ruining the gaming world because now most Japanese devs want to make their games like CoD.

Just wanted to jump in and say that Tomb Raider was developed by Crystal Dynamics, an American company. Square Enix had nothing to do with it other than publishing, so it's not a "Japanese developed" game.Anyway, I don't blame them. The Western-developed game market is overtaking the Japanese one pretty badly, so they need to start trying something different. If it means adapting from the Western style of action games, so be it.

I see that you don't like CoD, but please don't blame CoD for being a popular FPS. It isn't their fault for being popular. It's the consumers'. FPS is obviously the most popular genre and since Japanese developers aren't doing good money-wise, it would be wise to copy popular thanks to the consumers. Personally I like CoD but only for the multiplayer.
