Posted September 30, 201312 yr Popular Post Okay, brb while I go in the corner and cry. For those of you who do not get it (I didn't at first), that spiky haired boy is Cloud and the friend he's looking for is Zack.
September 30, 201312 yr He's looking for Sephiorth. It was stated over and over again in the game that it was Sephiroth in which he was searching for. I don't remember Aerith's actual quote but she also said that this "friend" was quite dangerous if I remember correctly. Edited September 30, 201312 yr by JTD95
September 30, 201312 yr Popular Post He's looking for Sephiorth. It was stated over and over again in the game that it was Sephiroth in which he was searching for. I don't remember Aerith's actual quote but she also said that this "friend" was quite dangerous if I remember correctly. Debatable. It was never stated that it was Sephiroth he was searching for. At least not "over and over" like you say. It makes sense for it to be Sephiroth yes, and at the time the game was made, it was definitely what they meant by it. And then Birth by Sleep came along, and I am almost 100% convinced that that whole thing with Cloud in the first game has everything to do with Zack, and I'm not coming out of left field with that. Zack Fair was last seen in Olympus Colliseum, the world Cloud later appears in looking for Sephiroth, or his "friend". The specific event Zack Fair was seen taking part in was the credits roll of BBS, where he stands by the Colliseum doors as a black feather floats to the ground in front of him. Yep. There is a ten year gap between the last time Zack is seen, and the first appearance of Cloud chronologically. More then enough time for a strong friendship to be formed between the characters, and for Zack to be killed. Zack actually could have been killed at any point in that timeline, maybe a matter of weeks before we see Cloud on some sort of mission. The feather we see fall isn't saying "Zack dies NOW" it's more foreshadowing that shit is going to go down, and that he does have something to do with Sephiroth. When we see Cloud in Kingdom Hearts, he has struck a deal with Hades. It's never said what that deal is, or what it entails. Do keep in mind however that Hades is the Lord of the Dead. He controls hell. It's not out of the question to think that if a character is killed while in Olympus Colliseum, that the traditional rules of Heartless/Nobody becoming don't apply, and anyone defeated/killed there gets taken to the Underworld. Hades striking a deal with someone, with the bargaining chip being "Do this thing for me, and I'll bring your friend back from the dead." It could also be that the deal is "Do this thing for me, and I'll make it so you can fight Sephiroth". Either interpretation can be valid, as it's left completely open. When Cloud does meet Sephiroth, in both KH1 and in KH2, Cloud only refers to Sephiroth as "My darkness." Now, the mythology of Kingdom Hearts supports two valid explanations here: 1. Sephiroth is to Cloud as Vanitas is to Ventus. (The darkness of Clouds heart manifested as a physical being) or 2. It's metaphorical. Suggesting Sephiroth is Clouds heartless or something is ridiculous, that's not how it works. So it's one of those two. I favor the metaphor option. Saying "You're my darkness" can basically be the equivalent of saying "You're the reason that darkness exists in my heart." And the implication of that is that Sephiroth is responsible for something that made Cloud who he is today... the young man, driven by a mission of some sorts, with darkness lingering in his heart. So... take that all in hand... and we have the following evidence to support the theory: Zack Fair is last seen on Olympus Colliseum, a decade prior to the events of KH1. We see a dark feather fall in front of him. In KH1, we see Cloud, on a mission, in the Olympus Colliseum. He has struck a deal with Hades, and he has a bone to pick with Sephiroth. There is a metaphorical interpretation in Clouds interactions with Sephiroth that suggests Sephy has done something truly evil that affected Cloud. I put that all together and I come to this: Zack Fair is a young upstart who goes to the Olympus Colliseum to become a hero. The events of BBS play out and all that, and Zack still has his ambition. And in the ten year gap between the last time we see him, and we see his fellow cast member from the game he comes from, a whole set of things happen... Zack gets killed by Sephiroth sometime in that ten years. The circumstances of it can't be deduced. Cloud must have been close enough to Zack, somehow, for him to be willing to go on a mission to avenge him. We then see Cloud in the Olympus Colliseum. How he got there is anyones guess. (How Zack got there is anyones guess.. how SEPHIROTH got there is anyones guess.) He has struck a deal with Hades to kill Hercules, and on the way up to Herc, kill Sora as well. In return, he has been promised that Hades will give him a shot at Sephiroth, and also, he will bring his deceased friend, Zack, back from the dead. But the deal with Hades was broken off when Cloud failed to defeat Sora/hesitated to finish Sora off. He still did get the chance to fight Sephiroth however. In the interaction between the two, Cloud dumps it all on Sephiroth. Letting him know that he's responsible for the darkness in his heart. Now before anyone goes on some kind of tangent trying to tell me how wrong I am about that, actually think about it... is there really anything saying it's wrong? No. There isn't anything that can honestly contradict the theory, I've gone up and down and around. If anyone can point me to an Ultimania entry or an interview that proves me wrong on the matter, I'll let it go, but until that time... I honestly think this has a shot at being close to the truth. You can't deny that it's awfully convenient that they put Zack Fair on the same world in BBS that Cloud and Sephiroth both would wind up on. Not to mention the foreshadowing they had in BBS credits with the feather. We don't know a whole lot about Clouds past, nor of Zacks, nor of Sephiroths. The motivations that Cloud has in KH1 and KH2 are so unbearably cryptic that you can put almost anything at it, only this idea has a good amount of common sense backing it up. I mean... come on.

October 1, 201312 yr I always liked to imagine this happening to Sora, at every world he went to. By the time he meets Riku, he's jsut a stick figure.
Okay, brb while I go in the corner and cry.
For those of you who do not get it (I didn't at first), that spiky haired boy is Cloud and the friend he's looking for is Zack.
