While I'm sure people can argue that the combat systems in most of the KH games are fine, I think there should be some more customization and button inputs for the combat.

Some of my ideas:

  • Some more button combos then just attack/commands so that you won't be just mindlessly pressing one or two buttons but thinking more about it (this would include making enemies fight in a more complex way)
  • Each character has multiple different fighting styles(like BBS command styles but without elements) that you can switch between whenever, even in the middle of a combo. There would be an ability point system like KH2 where you choose the attacks in each fighting style
  • Assuming all characters have drive forms, you would have access to even more fighting styles to switch between
  • Drive forms each with access to unique command styles
  • Letting you choose what Keyblades each drive form uses for both hands
  • A leveling system for Keyblades and/or upgrades like 358/2days that you can attach to any keyblade such as air combo +1 or wider swings
  • Having more Flow motion-ish moves like they showed Sora smoothly jumping off the wall in the trailer, but also with slides, flips and dodges that you could work into combos or use to start unique combos

What do you guys expect or hope to see gameplay wise in KH3?

I like your ideas :) but the only draw back is if the combat is to complex, it wont be the kingdom hearts we all know and grown to love. I think if it were more just the leveling concept you were talking about, I would be all for it lol :D

Yeah I know what you mean, it would be an awful mess if they changed things badly and old fans couldn't approach it :( but sometimes when your fighting you can just switch between spamming attack and magic and all the enemies are gone without a challenge.

MOAR DRIVE MODES

Definitely can't get enough of those :D

I think the characters should fight bad guys with keyblades

BOOM!!

PERFECT BATTLE SYSTEM

Limits. Plz...i want to see sora be badass with other lights

Like you said, I think they should try making keyblades more unique like they are in Days, making your attacks slower, faster, different moves etc, and make it so that you can switch between two or more keyblades during battle. While I would like a more combo-driven battle system it wouldn't feel like KH, so keeping the button mashing style but adding strategy involving keyblade choice (making it more than just damage, reach, magic, and passive ability) would be cool. One unique offefnsive move per keyblade would be a good way to make "weaker" keyblades more useful.

Also, they could have 7 "legendary" keyblades which are unlocked after difficult, optional fights which are modelled after characters, that give drastically different combos and fighting styles. A customisation system for Keyblades would also be awesome, so that you could make even the weakest keyblade into the best :D

I wanna see the next Trinity Limit, as Sora obtains Trinity Limit in all games where Donald and Goofy are usable for said ability.

Trinity limit was in DDD even though Donald Duck and Goofy weren't in your party.

Ah, I did not know. I figured it wasn't available due to lack of info on the ability itself.

Yea Sora and Riku's limit in KH2 was awesome!! Definitely need those and maybe they could even allow you to get hurt while doing it but have it last longer.

It would be cool if they did like x for light attack square for strong and triangle for grapples and you can unlock combos for each one or all together :)
