If this is the path gaming is going down, count me out.

It's pretty stupid to force users to have an active internet connection to play a damn videogame nowadays.

Like... Simcity. A single player game with absolutely no need for multiplayer whatsoever, just you and your god damn game, and now the company REQUIRES you to have an internet connection to even bother playing the game. If you don't... sorry, you can't play it... Like wtf. It's purely a SINGLE PLAYER game, why the f do I need an internet connection for?

Home console: PlayStation

Handheld console: Nintendo

I almost tried the original Xbox and the PSP. And I played GameCube for a bit, but it just wasn't good enough for me. I loved Pokemon Colosseum though.

I feel sorry for all the parents who don't have an Internet connection (or have one that's shit) and buy an Xbox One  for their children at Christmas.

I also feel bad for all the children. They're expecting an "awesome new even better Xbox360" that'll ask them for an update. Imagine how crushed they'll feel when they can't get that day one patch. Hell, it'd get even worse in the situation they may not even be able to return the system. And they're like $500, that could easily be their only Christmas gift that year.

Goddammit Microsoft.

Well,I can't see the Xbox One sales being pretty....not after the backlash that even the Sega Saturn didn't face

And the parents who'll buy an Xbox One for their children with a shit internet connection will end up trading it for something else like a Ps4 and a Wii U....y'know...something that actually function without needing the internet initially???

I was able to play NSMB U on my Wii U without downloading the day one patch(I'm serious) since I was trying to fix my broadband connection in my house

And I heard the Ps4 would be the same as the Wii U regarding the Day one update

It's the DRM bullshit that Don Mattrick brought to the Xbox brand that will kill it even though it got removed

It's been about almost a year since I got my Xbox 360...and I haven't used it much. My brother has been playing it more than I have. If it's going to take me this long just to get around to using my 360 more, I don't see what's going to get me to buy an Xbox One...unless Microsoft suddenly became awesome, but go figure the odds on that one. It's still going to be a good while until I start to save up for a Playstation 4, and I still haven't gotten a Wii U yet, but I'm half way there. Take all of that into account, and the Xbone is at the very bottom of my list. With all the stuff that's going on with it right now, it doesn't sound like a system worth getting so far.

Although the PS4 can play games without needing a patch, it will require a day 1 patch to play bluray/dvd's.

Do you buy a PS4 to play Blu-rays and DVDs?

Do you buy a PS4 to play Blu-rays and DVDs?

Well no, not as the primary function. But I imagine there would be people who would also like it to serve as a bluray player. And if they don't have an internet connection, I'm sure they'd rather be able to play the blu rays on the ps4 than having to buy a separate bluray player as well.

I remember, being a kid. I was at my friends house. And they had a Playstation 1 that they didn't want anymore. And so they gave it to me.

I took the system home, and I put in the Spiderman video game that had come out for it. Within two minutes of setting the system up, I was playing the first actual video game I had ever played.

All I had to do was take the CD out of the case, and put it in the system. That is ALL I had to do to play the game.

It makes me sad to know, that kids of this generation... are never going to be able to do that.

In any case. To me this proves that Microsoft simply does not give half a shit.

They have made a machine that before you can do ANYTHING on it, you have to sit through a patch.

Even when I bought my PS3, all I had to do was turn it on and PLAY THE GAME.

This just upsets me, and I don't even know why. Any person who wants a next gen system is going to have an internet connection. They were always going to need one anyway. But the idea that they need a patch on the first day out of the box to enable it to DO ANYTHING just bothers me for some reason.

Wait, the machine that's built for gaming will not play games right away? :O

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, I'm paying $500 for something that doesn't even work? Call me old-fashioned, but when I purchase my game systems I kinda expect them to already have the capacity to play games

i thought you needed the day 1 patch to do anything. the patch gets rid of ps4 drm

I heard of the Ps4 DRM thing  but I'm not totally sure about it....the only thing that would confirmed it is if the Ps4 was unable to play games without the patch

What do you expect from the Xbone...

Well.

You can still always bring out the beautiful SNES,Ps1,N64 and Ps2

Yep!

BRB, I'm gonna leave KH13 for a month...or two...

COME ON OUT, 'OL Faithfuls! SNES, you gonna help me play my DKC series and Super Mario World!

And N64, bring out Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie!

Am I the only one who's afraid that the next generation won't be pretty at all???

With lots of developers either going bankrupt, losing too much money or outright screw people over(Capcom,I'm looking at you),I think we might end up witnessing another crash

Okay... What the heck, Microsoft? You just keep screwing yourself over every time you announce some new Xbox One feature, so why the heck keep it up? You're not doing yourself any favors by doing these stupid features, so just stop now.

Almost reminds me of what the Wii U did, although I don't think you needed the update to play games, just for internet related services. (Which even then I heard a lot of bitching about, probably those with bad internet.) Correct me if I'm wrong though, but you get the idea.

Xbone never ceases to amaze me with all these issues.

Uh, isnt the PS4 made so taht you just put a disc in the console and start playing as it starts up? You're acting as if Xbox One is the only console of the next gen. xD I guess you're an Xbox Fan then.

Oh shut up. Spiderfreak. You know damn well I'm a Sony fan.

It's more about the tone this sets. It's a bad omen. I never intended to get an XBox anyway, but this still upsets me. I even say in the post you only skimmed through that "This just upsets me, and I don't even know why."

Ok sorry then. But in my eyes, the post you made seemed like you only cared about the Xbox, even though i had a pre conceived idea before hand that yo uwere a sony fan. I doubt that Sony would make the same dumb mistakes as Microsoft and make it so you cant just load the disc in the console and start playing.
