Ozpin Reviews: Sonic 06 :l

I looked at all the recommendations of things I should review and much to my horror I saw that Sonic 06 was on the top of things.

Im going to start by saying im am going to try and be fair to this game...... as much as I can. 

 

2006 was a big year for sonic fans. The series was in its 15 anniversary and and a new game was in sight. The fans where stoked and the people who lost interest of the series after they made it 3D (me included) where slightly interested but didn't pay it to much mind.

When the trailers and gameplay footage came out however many heads turned toward the Segas blue hedgehog. The graphics looked fine and the gameplay looked fast. Fanboys where interested in their new character Sliver (who I hate for only 1 reason but more on that later) and the fangirls would either cry or rejoice (or sometimes both) about Sonics supposed new love interest Elise. Ahh Elise so sweet, so innocent she just has a tiny bestiality problem. Yes: Sonic and this girl have romantic moments between them on multiple occasions.

 

Lets stop the gibberish and continue to the main points.

 

1. Story.

Story wise the game was somewhat ok. Sonic rises to the challenge of saving Elise from Dr. eggman who needs her to awaken an ancient evil power. easy enough for kids to understand. (I mean they ARE the target audience) then theres shadow (who somehow became a government agent) who is trying to find the reason for all of these events that are happening which leads up to the main villain. and then Silver. Hes a being from the future with psychic powers. he lives in a world that is completely destroyed and learns that the cause of its destruction is none other then Sonic himself. so hearing this Silver naturally hops on a portal to the past to kill sonic, never once doughting that it could all be a lie. when I give it a second thought the story is pretty much mild.

2. The characters.

Im only going to talk about silver here for 2 reasons. 1: his voice actor is terrible. I felt like I was listening to whiney 6 year old with a voice that sounds like he has a cold. his character seems 1 dimensional as well 2. this should have been first but: you should already know about the other characters by now.

3. The sound.

its safe to say that this is the best part of the game. The soundtrack was very well done with some songs here in there to keep things fresh. The music has never really been a problem with the sonic series. but I have to say my favorite had to be the instrumental version of "his world" witch plays during the last boss fight.

4. final thoughts 

 the gameplay is ok and I have never once ran into any of the glitchs that people talk about and the loading screens arnt that bad( just be patient ppl, if you have time to sit down and play a game odds are you arnt going anywhere) its a game that has recived many a bad review or problem and I agree: it could have been much better but its not the worst sonic game out there. Its not as good as the fanboys praise it to be but its not as bad as haters say it is.

I give Sonic 06 a score of 3/5
