I actually find these attempts to make a game or show darker than it is by saying the person's imagining it all quite dull and predictable. Just reminds me of the really old "Angelica (from Rugrats) is schizophrenic and made the rest of them up/Dark Rugrats Theory".  I honestly don't see why someone would bother to waste their time being so predictable in their "story" telling.  Basically the default for everything with fantasy "So and So" actually imagined them all and did "so and so" to make them seem more real, ~woooo spoooky guys/I should be on creepypasta~
