January in Australia, breaking records one year at a time

Posted

It feels like every year we're breaking records during January, and it's true. Last year we broke the world record for average temperature across an entire country.

This week in Australia, pretty much everywhere is above 40 degrees Celsius. And for those who use Fahrenheit: 42ºC = 107.60ºF

Yup. Even the tennis got suspended because of the heat. Lucky I was at work today in an aircon'd shopping centre.

so hot xD today i had work outdoors :P

Something im not looking forward to.

Where I'm at...it's suppose to be Winter. Cold, Chilly and Cloudy. Suppose to be an average temperature of 18ºC = 65ºF

But no, 26.66ºC = 80ºF today :/

Probably not as bad as Australia though.

Sheeit. I'm in New Zealand and we barely ever get 27ºC, even in the middle of summer.

I'm so tempted to want to fry an egg on my car...but I don't want to have to clean up afterwards

My hometown broke records too for having -30C (-20F) degree weather.  So glad I'm in Japan this year...

There's an image of a guy frying eggs at the Australian Open making the rounds on Twitter

Also Western Sydney always cops the worst of it during heatwaves around here :( (not close enough to catch the sea breeze, not high enough for the Blue Mountains' moderating effect)

Where I live , it should be 10C but it's like 24 right now ...
