im not an fps guy. but ive heard that the multiplayer is really fun so i downloaded tf2 but I SUCK! i find myself quiting after the first game. i also want to try half-life. the only fps that i enjoy considerably is portal. (but that isnt egsactly an fps but more of a puzzle game.) how do i get into FPSs?

If you never played a shooter before in your life, start with Call of duty, it is by far the easiest shooter to get in to.

 

then after you master COD every shooter would be almost a cake walk for you, ( well that is how it is for me)

I don't really know how...I can't get into them either. I get bored really easy with them. Some people just can't enjoy them it seems. 

I couldn't tell you. I'm considering playing the Halo games for the storylines, but I've never gotten around to it. I guess I just need to be really bored or really motivated.

You need to find the ones that are right for you. I personally can't get into most, like Call of Duty or Halo, but I love Valve's (Half Life, TF2, Left 4 Dead). I'd say Valve's are all worth a shot, they're famous for making consistent masterpieces.

If you're not into them why bother forcing yourself

I used to play cod so much but it's just meh,I hold games with great story lines and character depth to a higher value.

Fool. Play a campaign first with A.I. Human players will always be the best, so start easy. That way you can get practice without dying a lot.

FPS games are really hard if you haven't played one before. You just have to keep trying, dude. lolMaybe play games that have single-player campaigns to get the hang of it or something

You can't exactly force yourself to like a genre.  Portal is less FPS and more puzzle game, so that might be why you like but can't get into anything else.  If you're not having fun with it, you're not having fun with it.  Play what you do like.
