Wii U Lifetime Sales Surpass 360's in Japan

Posted

This week’s Media Create sales came as no surprise with the PlayStation 4, bundled with Knack, dominating the software and hardware charts. However, beady eyes have noted that the Wii U has now overtaken the Xbox 360′s lifetime sales in Japan. Currently, the Wii U stands at 1,643,095 units – with a steady 7-8k sold each week – while the Xbox 360 lifetime to date sales clocks in at 1,641,528 units.

Nintendo’s home console still has a few leaps to make in order to reach the PlayStation Vita’s 2.5 million lifetime sales, but there’s still many great releases around the corner, including Mario Kart 8, to drum sales up further.

This doesn't surprise me at the slightest since the Xbox brand has always been unpopular in Japan lol.

I'll do that right now.

I'll do that right now.

There ya go. Thank.

On topic now...

Hurrah! I'm not surprised in the least though. The Wii U is an Nintendo system, and this is Japan we're talking about. But it does give a lot of hope for the future of the system. Within 2 years the system has now passed the sales of a system thats been out for 8 years. That's not bad, even considering the subpar sales for the 360.

Hopefully this will give Nintendo a bit more incentive to back the system up more. Advertise it for the love of God

People in Japan have good taste

That`s not saying much. The Xbox barely has a market in Japan. So for the Wii U to JUST surpass a last gen console, is nothing.

This is good for Nintendo

very bad news for Microsoft. if they want to do good in Japan, Microsoft has to make more games that will capture the Japanese's attention. I know they tried with Xbox 360 but they need to try even harder with the Xbox one. Especially now that the PS4 has almost taken the console over the market ( it is still a tie between the PS4 and Xbox One in the Untied States in my opinion)

God speed Microsoft ( no sarcasm intended)

That the Wii U simply beated this in less than 2 years, is a bit embarassing for Microsoft, since in 1 year, a console selling regularly less than 20k per week, could beat a 8 year old console, that received some good JRPGs, even if pretty much all were bi-platform. Though I do think, it took the Wii U way to much to beat it, seeing how low the Xbox 360 sells are. Hopefully it beats the Vita sells soon, thoug it will probably beat i for when MK8, SSBU and Hyrule Warriors come out.

Anyway, congratulations to Wii U and Nintendo.

Xbox doesn't sell in Japan. Try outselling it in North America.

The Wii U could never out sell the 360 in the U.S. lol
