Why Every Game Is a Franchise Now & running down the top 10 best-selling franchises

Featured Replies

Honestly, I like franchises. Movies, games, books. If you're going to make great characters, I'd enjoy seeing them do more things. That's why comics have survived for so long. (Even if I prefer the movies)

This was an interesting video.  And well, what they say is true, nowadays, any new triple-A game that comes out is most guaranteed to be a franchise.  While some franchises are successful, such as the Mario and Zelda series as they stated, other franchises suffer the risk of franchise fatigue, such as Call of Duty.  The only Call of Duty game I have is the first Black Ops, and I feel more than content of having that game be my only Call of Duty game for a long, long time.  Heck, it's the only Call of Duty game that I own. xD  Anyways, my point here is that franchises can be amazing when done well and handled appropriately, but done wrong and managed badly, they can fail greatly.  The video game industry is an interesting one, and I shall continue to invest in it as long as there are always good games out there to play. ^_^
