Why is the X so symbolic in the KH series?

Posted

I watched a comic con 1014 on youtube and I wonder why the letter X is symbolic. It's even on people's clothes like Sora's clothes in DDD. In that game you see a huge X on his chest. What does that mean and are there other characters that have the X on the clothes?

X=recusant for Sora?

Its supposed to be a sign of Xehanort in a way. He uses it to track others movements, such as in Sora's case. Plus he gave an X in the name of each Nobody to also signify this.

I thinks that Xehanort has influenced the future to have almost all things have a X on it because the first letter of is name is X. This is really what I think.

X is symbolic because of it's connection to the x-Blade. X[chi] is a Greek letter that, when pronounced in Japanese, sound like the word "key" since Keyblades are just giant, magic keys and are central to the plot X, by extension, is central. It may even be the reason for Xehanort's name starting with that letter, which further intertwines X with the characters.

This and what's going around that it's also the norts personal person tracker.

I noticed that the X is on the Organization's weapon too if you look closely.

X is used for "X-blade" but it's pronounced "key". In Greece this "X" is pronounced really differently than how it's pronounced in Japan or something ,

"X" or "The Recusant's Sigil" Is the Mark of Heresy which means belief or opinion contrary to orthodox religious doctrine. X Is pronounced Kye or Chi in Japanese which is the 22nd letter of the Greek Alphabet meaning "Life force or Energy". It is also used by Xehanort because of his sleeping memories of the X-Blade.

"As your flesh bears the sigil, so your name shall be known as that...of a recusant." —Xemnas to Sora

The correct English pronunciation of the Greek letter chi(x) is kai. THOUGH as I said, that is the correct English pronunciation of a Greek letter. There are places and people that say "key" is correct. (And wikipedia does list the /ki/ as one of the pronunciations which is close to the English "key") Though all I know is that when I found the MODERN Greek pronunciation of the letter it sounded a lot like our English "he".But yes, for most intents and purposes, if you are living in an English speaking country pronounce it kai, since that's what most people using it will know it as. With language it is go with the flow stance, you have to use the correct pronunciation in your setting so that people will understand you.

Back on topic there are two significant things that X represents, the X-blade and Xehanort. And all KH games made so far (except for maybe x[chi]) are part of the Xehanort saga.  While Xs may still appear after the Xehanort saga, I have a feeling they will be much less prevalent.

X-blade, nuff said.

Didn't Xehanort say that "X" also meant death? I swear he said that in BBS.
