Nomura is the best Game dev of all time i see it now

Posted

Why else would he take 8 years "perfecting" a game!?!?!?!?!?

oh wait hes absolutely lazy and terrible, silly me

Now remember, he has to take all that time in order to make sure the game is as best as it can be.

R... right?

If the end product ends up being ACTUALLY GOOD in the end people wont care how long it took to get that product.

Nomura is a proud and aspiring developer, just like any other developer. He's not perfecting the game, but he's assuring that Final Fantasy XV will be an extremely satisfying experience.

It's pure bullshit that you're rudely accusing Nomura of being lazy and terrible at a job that is much more difficult and takes more time than you may think. It's time you grow up and open your eyes.

Well it's more of Square Enix's poor scheduling and management's fault than Nomura's

Square Enix as a whole is to blame for this whole development fiasco.

Nomura is but a one man,he can't do everything and for all we know, things might get out of control and the game might end up being terrible or hopefully....it'll be great

doesnt take 8 years to make a great game, kh2 took only a couple years and its my favorite game

I've talked about it with friends before, and it honestly is very apparent that Nomura and the team wanted the game to do so much that the PS3 likely just was not able to do. However, to lower the standards they had set to themselves and to the public would have been bad. We have a theory that the whole project of FFXV was scrapped at some point and they got a head start on working and experimenting with next-gen

yes they f*cking do. people count shit like this against square, if they dont know how to release their games in a reasonable amount of time it backfires onto them

I understand this, but if they are going to do something like that its a bad decision to leave your fanbase wondering about it for 8 years. Its best that they think before they announce games.

The game's been swapped from PS3 to PS4 and Xbone. Do you have any idea how much time and money that takes to change all the properties used for the game's swap over? KH2 was developed for a single console, there wasn't much on Nomura's schedule at the time. Thanks to a major portion of fans, and Square Enix's scheduling, Nomura had several projects to work on at a simultaneous time. This includes FFXV, BBS, Days, Coded, DDD, and now KH3.

Not to mention, Nomura supervises every project that has anything to do with him, so the HD ReMIX titles also add on.

Never in my life have I seen anyone complain about the amount of time it takes for a game to be developed. How childish...

Its bad from a business standpoint to announce a game and release it 9 years later. If they make people wait that long, they will undoubtedly be driven away from the company. If they were going to wait this long to release the game they should've at least announced it when it was almost done like most game devs do. And not blindly obsessing over a company that makes terrible decisions makes me childish I guess.

Bioshock Infinite's development time didnt backfire on them cause the end product was claimed well worth the wait, this shows that as long as the product is good enough to justify the development time, people will not nail them on their head for it.I understand where youre coming from but the fact of the matter is that shit happens that will cause projects to need to restart, realizing the end product turns out to be awful and needing to be worked on completely again, possible disasters that make them lose all their progress, shit can hit the fan sometimes. In the end though,if the product they release is GOOD ENOUGH to forgive the time it took, then the time will be forgiven.

It's not bad. I mean hell, bad is making it available for preorder as soon as announcement hits. That never happened. People waiting this long with money placed on the title would probably stand down from it. They're not trying to make people wait, they're keeping you informed that they still have something going on.

And no, it's not blind obsession, it's taking the time to understand what's going on and actually appreciate that someone is working hard to make a satisfying experience. Instead of bitching and shitting on a single person just because he's associated with a company that has made mistakes in the past, maybe you could learn to have an understanding of exactly what kind of process something such as FFXV has to go through. To me, it sounds like you dunno the first thing about game development. Frankly, I can't tell you either, but I've taken classes in coding and game design and it's definitely a tough process to work with.

I do agree there. From what I can tell from various interviews, Square Enix themselves dropped the ball there, though. They wanted to show off a lot of different things with the PS3, and wanted some epic and awesome games to show, even if they weren't ready or feasible. I think it's connected to how FFXIII was developed and turned out as well. (Plus, their FFVII tech demo was a bad idea to show off). Square just wasn't quite capable even at the beginning of the PS3's life.

To be fair, shifting to next gen does give it another couple years of development since it's clearly doing things PS3 couldn't do.

But to be honest, Nomura works on 100 projects at once. He's supervising HD collections, making smartphone games like All The Bravest, making 3DS games, doing character designs for like five games at once whilst directing Square Enix's flagship games for next gen consoles. He needs to get his priorities straight. I don't see any other directors at Square Enix doing that many projects. They all do one or two at once.

But this is a bit of a joke. This game was announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive before the PlayStation 3 was released. BEFORE IT WAS EVEN RELEASED.

Well it's more of Square Enix's poor scheduling and management's fault than Nomura's

Square Enix out-source development a lot now.

I know how grueling game development is, but I also know what it takes to run a successful business centered around video games, and this is not how to do it. Tons of Game developers take years longer than this, but the difference is that they know that they shouldn't announce a game if it has this much development time left.
