Persona Q for 3DS looks interesting. I haven't played any Persona games yet and, since Persona Q has characters from 3 and 4, it seems like I might appreciate it better if I knew the characters.

 

Which one is a better game for someone new to the series?

3, if you like the darker tones. 4 is you want to see Teddie.

I do like darker tones, but this "Teddie" is intriguing. I also figure 4 might have a better battle system.

4 does feel more refined.

 

Honestly, I've always loved Persona 4, but just recently I've started Persona 3. And man, is it AMAZING. Everyone says FES is the best version, but honestly, go with Persona 3 Portable. I've tried out both, and in the end P3P just felt better so I've stuck with it.

 

If you're gonna get Persona 4, I'd say go for Golden version if you somehow have a Vita. If you don't, the original is okay as well. Both have really good strong points, but they have very different feels. If you like one, you may not like the other, and if you like one, you may like the other.

4 is more accessible, but personally it ain't got shit on 3.

Why not both?

if you're going to play Persona 3, play Persona 3 Portable. The combat is better in it than in P3/P3 FES. The one of my main reason I got FES on my PS3 was to play the Answer.

Personally, I like Persona 4 but start with Persona 3 Portable

Persona 4 was better in my opinion.

I just finished Persona 4.  Compared to 3, I thought the characters and gameplay were a big improvement, but P3 had the better atmosphere.  I'd recommend playing P3 first just for the experience.

They're long enough.  It depends on whether you just want to beat the main storyline or complete the side missions, max out all social links, complete the compendium, etc..  Can be upwards of 70+ hours.  Perhaps it's best to work on completing those other games you have first.  You've got an awesome selection of games there, btw!

It takes about 2 - 3 hours before you even get into the first battle. That probably says a lot about the pacing of the games. lol

I figured it would take ages... Bravely Default took me nearly 100 hours to complete, so I can only imagine how long Persona 3/4 will take

So really its all about weather u want a dark story or a more comic story. P4 was a tad dark but not clearly as much as P3….for Lee should know…because she is playing both right now

But don't get me wrong, both were epic!

I started with Persona 4 and loved it. Now I'm playing Persona 3 FES, and can't really compare the two yet... Persona 4 was amazing, and the battle system is nicer (but if you get P3P, it's said to be less annoying), but the story in Persona 3 seems more interesting to me, and darker. From my experience the social links in P4 seem more interesting, but can't really say since I'm not that far in P3 yet...

 

...I'd say you play them both. Just start with the one that appeals to you more.
