Best: FFIV

Worst: FFIII

I love all five, though (Well, I suppose I only really love II, IV, and V, but I and III are great also).

I haven't played V to an extent, so I picked IV as the best.

I haven't played III yet, so I can't give my opinion. I have to say I, because at the time of it's release, it is an epic game, but let's face it, in today's generation, it's pretty bland, and repetitive. I played and finished it, and enjoyed it, but it was very basic for me. Didn't provide me much of a challenge, so I chose 1 as the worst FF game.

Just throwing it out there, but the remakes of FFI are easy as heck. The NES version was incredibly difficult. No MP, Tougher enemies, stats that aren't totally broken... It's much more of a challenge, if that's what you're looking for.

I check into it.

Alright, cool. It's tough to find, unless you've got a Wii. :

The PSP version is the only remake actually.

Or Japanese Wii U or 3DS.

They also remade FFI on GBA. The PSP version's basically an upscaled version of the GBA remake, and the same goes for the Android/iOS versions. Basically, every version from the GBA one and on is mostly the same. I'm not sure how the PS1 version compares to the NES version, though.

Yeah, but it'd be easier to get a Wii than to import a Wii U or 3DS from Japan.

Well of course, the iOS and Android versions are all just remasters of the latest version. Everything pre-tablet era in SD and everything during the tablet era in HD.

Wikipedia describes the GBA version as "Four additional dungeons, updated bestiary, a few tweaks" which is not even close to a remaster. It's just a port.

FFV is my favorite, with a better storyline and more interesting character s it would have been my favorite Final Fantasy game.

FFII is my least favorite, but I still like the game, but I don't like the level up system, they should have kept the job system from the original game and I'm not a big fan of the 4th party member being a temporary member and that one is probably because I played the GBA version, but the game is way too easy, until the final boss when there's a huge difficulty spike for some reason.

Source?

IV was my favorite, whereas III bothered me beyond belief.  It was a bit repetitive and required so much level grinding.

Personally I find V to be a bit of deviation from the standards set in games like IV, II, and maybe even III. While II is almost not recognizable gameplay wise as a Final Fantasy however I feel it was a necessary step Square needed to take in order to see what worked for them in a system. So despite II maybe not being their best I definitely don't think its the worst to come out of Square and Sakaguchi. Now the point I'm reaching toward here is that V was developed by a Square that had already well established its style. Games like IV and II had a very heavy tone in there narratives and V seems almost too light hearted, too silly, and I would even go as far too say satirical of their earlier works. Which isn't to say that the game doesn't feature some deep moments in it's story but they don't feel central to the game's story in the way that IV tugged on my heartstrings and arguably set the standard for VI-Modern Day.

Pretty sure Final Fantasy Origins counts as a remake of FF1 and 2, dude.Anyway, 3 is best, and 2 is worst because of how broken the stat boosting system is.

NES

GBA

It should be pretty obvious that they remade that all, though... The GBA's much more advanced than the NES. You don't really need a source to know that.

He didn't direct VI?

He was going to, but he took a higher position in the company and had to produce instead. Kitase took over with Ito already directing.

They remade SOME parts of the game. It's not a proper remake though.

If these were proper remakes they would have remade III as well.

How does them not remaking III not make it a proper remake? I fail to see any logic there at all.

Remember what their reason for not releasing III on WonderSwan, PSOne and GBA was?

When we developed FF3, the volume of content in the game was so huge that the cartridge was completely full, and when new platforms emerged, there simply wasn't enough storage space available for an update of FF3, because that would have required new graphics, music and other content. There was also a difficulty with how much manpower it would take to remake all of that content.

If the WonderSwan, PSOne and GBA versions were proper remakes it wouldn't matter and III would have been released on them.

Those flaws with II are keeping me from playing it...

yeah, unless you want to beat every single FF games for the sake of beating them all,its not really worth playing all that much, but its not a bad game and I'm glad I played it
