i obviosly know the difference of the 2 but the question im asking is more of the experience. what do you think makes the experience different and in what way? for me its that the music really provides better atmosphere than a soundless manga can and also the actual voices of the charicters. (subbed or dubbed) the manga i think of more of a casual experience. it CAN be intense. im not denying that. im just saying that anime makes it more intense. manga obviosly has the advantage of being able to experience the story in peace and quiet. my friend (who loves naruto) finished the anime to where it was (like 2 years ago) and continued in manga because he didnt feel like waiting for the next anime episodes. he said that the arc he was on is just a really slow arc and so he stopped reading but i think the only reason it felt slower was because it was in manga. i keep telling him but right now hes in anime hiatus to focus on school so he doesent want to get into anime. thats what brought on this question. but never mind my stories. what do you think makes the experience different?

The anime has a lot more atmosphere. The added sounds really add a lot of depth. Also, I find them easier to follow. I have difficulty telling what goes in during action scenes in manga. On the other side, anime can also have filler, and sometimes completely splits off from the manga (For example, Soul Eater's manga is far better than the anime. I've never even seen anyone debate otherwise).

 

However, manga's my go-to for a long series.

The little variations that happen in anime

 

For example in the Naruto manga during the Chunnin preliminary fights when Tenten fought Temari all we saw was the beginning of the fight and then a few pages later Tenten was on the ground and none of the readers knew what happened in the fight.....then anime started and we got to see the fight

your deffinetly right when it comes to filler. but as for long series, i have to beg to differ with long series. i like better atmosphere for long animes so i watch anime of them. i read the manga of SOME (not all) short animes. like i plan on reading fullmetal alchemist. but i guess thats just a difference in preference. either way, ANIME AND MANGA FTW!!!!

I'll usually watch the anime after reading the manga, but I take ages to watch anime usually. Soul Eater took me half a year because I get sidetracked too often, and I've spent three or four years on Naruto and I'm STILL not caught up yet. I read the manga so I'm caught up to the story, then I'll watch it to really enjoy it.

I love the Naruto manga (I'm all caught up to that, just not the anime ), and I've been loving the anime so far, too!

The anime is annoying, harsh, and full of music I don't like mostly, but manga is more..hmm..

Nothing against anime: just my personal opinion, but if, for example, it came between Deathnote anime and Deathnote manga, I prefer the manga version. 

Plus you can freak yourself out by reading a horror manga during a storm. 

I usually do not watch a lot of TV in general, expect for documentaries and sit-coms. Anime just seems kinda eh, I do not like it as much due to the art and soul that is lost in most modern anime. Older anime and anime done with more passion really sparks me. Over all manga is more for me, yet I am glad people let anime, it sparks merchandise and goodies.

Well, there's also a lot of anime that are completely original and not adaptations. Like Kyokai no Kanata. BTW, I really recommend watching Noragami if you haven't already. It's on Netflix or places like kissanime.com

One thing that I like about Manga, is that it often goes into details that Anime doesn't. For example, the Yakitate Japan anime ends at a certain point, but the manga keeps going. (If I'm not mistaken, the Vampire Knight series is the same way.) Depending on the series, a Manga can even contain material that differs greatly from its anime/ videogame counterpart, such as with the Kingdom Hearts Manga. Many things happen in the KH manga that doesn't happen in the games, and sometimes I feel like the extra elements help me connect better to the story.

For me the difference isn't that big, I enjoy both. I personally find manga much faster, but maybe that depends on the series? But if there's a lot of action, it tends to be cooler in anime. And it has music,

Otherwise I find both equally enjoyable.

Well, I'm one who really likes color, which manga normally lack. So that's a big plus for anime to me. In addition, I read manga really quickly, and it honestly feels a bit too fast, but it's not like I'm going to slow down reading either. Anime controls its own pace, which not only increases suspense, but also makes it seem like something is happening over a period of time, rather than just all at once.

 

However, manga does have the advantages of begin a book. It can be much longer, go into more detail, and just generally has a bit more freedom. Plus, I find that manga tends to have more special bonuses (like FMA's bonus 4 panel comics), which I personally adore. I find myself less drawn into action scenes in manga, though.

Manga usually conveys a lot more details of the story and has consistent quality, unlike anime. Sometimes I feel like a lot of animes are rushed and yea... the quality is poor, and a lot of details are left out.

 

However, the music in anime does add a lot more excitement. 

 

Overall I like both! Sometimes it just depends on the series...
