Like in Kingdom Hearts X, Kingdom Hearts Coded, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep you get to use another character, while Kingdom Hearts Chain Of Memories, Sora, Donald, Goofy lost all their memories and ability once they step into Castle Oblivion, while Kingdom Hearts, Sora just started his journey and learn how to use a Keyblade, Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance Master Yen Sid said They have to start at a "Clean Slate". And lastly, in Kingdom Hearts 2 Roxas lost his memories while Sora just been recompleted and woke up.

I was actually thinking this the other day and how there were past interviews were Nomura said he had to find ways to make Sora start from lvl 1. 

 

But the thing is, why does it matter?

 

I mean, gameplay =/= story right? The Lvls are there for gameplay purposes. 

 

For example KH2 Sora at lvl 1 could still kick KH1's lvl 100 Sora's ass. He is simply way faster.

They easily just say Sora's exposure to darkness weakened him a bit.

It doesn't matter if it was the dream world Sora's heart fell to darkness understandably that could leave one in a weakens state. Also Sora could go back to the dream world because he awakened the ability to open portals to the Realm of Sleep.

Actually, gameplay elements are most of times canon story-wise, in the Kingdom Hearts Universe. Nomura likes these kind of things a lot (like I do as well).

Well we will have to wait and see. The way it looks like it's that they are going to ignore it and shrug it off if they aren't asked.

Nomura is not quite that kind of guy that shrugs about things, he's really finicky. I'm pretty sure he will find a way to explain the fact Sora and the others will have to start from level 1 again but yeah, only time will tell.

Level 1 in a new game is basically at least level 100 from the prior game they appeared, simple. Of course, I'd say in most cases, the differences are at least slightly more than  that, considering the way Sora can control in contrast, like the post that pointed out start of KHII Sora is faster than he is at the end of KHI, of course, the journey in castle oblivion certainly helped with that I'm sure. 

 

He didn't sleep for a year, t was closer to 10 months or so I do believe.
