Have you ever wondered why people describe Kingdom Hearts as a Disney and Final Fantasy love child? The FF characters have a very limited role in the series. Cloud pops up occasionally. Yuffie has like six lines in the whole series. The Sephiroth boss battles are engaging but you hardly learn anything from him, especially in KH1.

I think Nomura needs to establish a FF world in KH3 to make the FF presence more pungent. Not to mention the FF characters HARDLY contact the Disney personnel for anything. Merlin teaming up with Leon and the gang is about the only time Disney and FF connect. Sure they fought at Radiant Garden. But even then, Disney and FF teams were separated.

What world can Nomura use in KH3?

Don't forget Star Wars.

Batman v. Superman will touch up on those aspects as well.

It's a popular story plot.

.............I'm sorry, what?  >.>

There's more to the FF influence than just the presence of characters and worlds, which you're right in that they're limited in comparison to Disney. I think the FF influences are just more invisible and in the background when compared to the Disney side of things, which are more in your face. There's some of the more obvious influences like the character designs, the magic, and the various names and cameos. But I think the FF part really shines when you look at KH's scope of plot and concepts.

The overall plot of a kid with a powerful weapon fighting monsters while saving the world(s) sounds like something more you'd see with FF and Squeenix than Disney -- Disney's works tend to be more self-contained to its own town or castle setting or mysterious setting or what have you, which is why the concept of numerous different worlds works so well in KH. FF is usually about fighting (and literally fighting) for something far greater than yourself. It's about going on adventures and making new allies along the way while learning about yourself. There's also how FF plots tend to be long and complicated, and, well... I think KH lore these days speaks for itself. All this is accomplished through Disney's characters and whimsy.

Point is I don't think the FF part of the equation is as absent as you think. It's just that it's more intertwined with KH's infrastructure than its surface presentation, which is how it can justify Donald can cast Firaga at things and we (or at least I) think it's awesome.

The aspect of light vs. dark is used all the time. Superman=light. Batman=dark. Jedi=light. Sith=dark.

Um, I wouldn't go as far as to compare those with Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy though.  :P

Why Disney it could have been such an awesome game it's really ridiculous that Disney never tries something new anymore when it comes to games is it really that dangerous to have disney character battle like that Disney you killjoy

Agreed. They would have a game where Donald bashes Jafar's head in, but they won't have a Dissidia type fighting game. Makes no sense to me.

No. They're just examples of how the concept is used. Lol.

Very interesting point. I like how you connect the actual core of a FF and KH. It makes the two more relate-able. If only KH had Phoenix Downs xD

I'm surprised to see how many of you actually want a FF world. I can't see it working at all. The FF characters in Kingdom Hearts already have their own worlds (Twilight town, Destiny Islands and Radiant Garden) and the characters are the Kingdom Hearts versions of them, not the real ones. I do agree that they need a bit more story but we don't need a FF world for that. Besides there have been only Disney worlds so far and I think it should stay that way. This is Kingdom Hearts, not Final Fantasy.

If you really want to play in MIdgar then go play FF7.

I don't see why you're against it. Though you're right, they did establish Leon and co. hometown, but what happens when they introduce new FF characters in the series? I don't understand why Nomura decided to create these FF characters and then change where they're from in a different game. To fit the story? It seems like more of a convenience. He could have explained they came from a very far away world (insinuating they came from Midgar, or what have you).

It's not about "doesn't give a crap", most of the characters that appeared in KH were drawn by Nomura himself and he wasn't a character designer back before FFVII.

Zack, Cloud and Auron made contact with Olympus Coliseum characters, Aerith with Donald and Goofy, Leon and King Mickey. But you're right, the contacts were countable.

So countable I actually forgot Leon and Mickey had any contact at all. I don't even remember if they spoke to each other once while at Radiant Garden.

He's already put in Setzer, who he didn't originally design. Although the KH Setzer sucked, that's still proof that he CAN put them in.

I said "most", he is one of only two characters that were not drawn by Nomura, but having them rare could still mean that he might be facing some hard situations on putting other characters that he didn't draw. Who knows what's behind this between Nomura and Square Enix but you can't just say that Nomura doesn't care, because he helped on making some previous games before VII when he was yet to become a Character Designer.

Yyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh, I'm really questioning the logic that wen't behind that decision. Seriously, Kingdom Hearts, it's okay for Disney characters to fight each other, but Dissidia, it isn't? Nobody is even asking for Donald or Goofy to be in it, just characters like Sora, Riku, or Xehanort. I honestly can't wrap my head around that reasoning, somebody else must have been in charge of Disney that day.

Yeah seriously! They own the Marvel property and the characters end up fighting each other. What's the deal here?

To be fair, if Nomura ever did make an exception to the "no characters I didn't design" rule (barring Vivi, but that was staff insistence), the most likely candidate would be FF4 primarily because he's a huge Kain Highwind fanboy (to the point where Riku is based on him more than any other FF protagonist).
