So, everybody knows how the time travel in DDD contradicted the time travel in KH2, right?

Personally, I thought DDD introducing time travel was really stupid, too, but an idea suddenly came to me!

(Still think introducing time travel in DDD was stupid, though :P)

See, I think there are 2 different means of time travel:

The Disney time travel method

and

The Final Fantasy time travel method (or Kingdom Hearts time travel method, if you will)

See, most people think that Timeless River is just a connected world, but I believe it's due to the difference in the time traveling method!

Disney time travel would be a more cartoon-y time traveling method, where everything reverts back to old-fashion stuff, and the changes there directly affect the future. But it can also easily be changed if you know a powerful Disney Wizard!

The FF/KH method is a more complicated one, with more restrictions, but the end result is unchangeable and set in stone.

Naturally, Xehanort would choose the second one rather than spend his time using the first one, where Sora could just fight him and revert his changes every time!

Well, that's my theory, anyway.

xehanort can't make changes though, so it's less of a choice

Pretty much, yeah. It's a different method for a different purpose. Merlin's magic allowed Sora/Donald/Goofy to explore Disney Castle's past to stop Pete. (Though try explaining why a door appeared for Pete in the first place, though :P) But that's only on one world. Xehanort's method of time travel is more flexible in that he can appear anywhere at any time he wants as long as it's on a forward or backward path, but also restrictive because he can only go one way and loses the memories of his travel once he's finished.

Well I thought it was obvious there were different methods used for time travel in the series :P

Yeah I didn't really question it at all.  And maybe the whole Timeless River time travel only applies to Disney Castle.

Well, seeing as how many kept on making time threads, apparently most people did not.

That was the whole purpose of this thread anyway, to provide an interpretation of why there was a discrepancy.

You, in all honesty, lost me. Plus, what we saw in KH2 doesn't contradict what happened in DDD. It was another method.

There are indeed. There was of course the more complex way of KH3D and the simpler way of KH2.

I was thinking the same thing. Except with a third method which is just.the JH/FF method done on another person only.

Now how did the door appear for Pete?
