This here is the RP thread for Once Upon a Fantasy, inspired by Once Upon A Time, Final Fantasy, and Kingdom Hearts.  The sign-ups are still open, so if you’d like to join please read the rules and sign-up here: http://kh13.com/forum/topic/86632-once-upon-a-fantasy-sign-ups-and-ooc-discussion/

If you’re late to the party no worries; I’ll offer refreshers to anyone new and will also create an opening for those who enter late.

Now then, a few notes to the players before the games begin:

At the start of your post please put a header indicating your character’s FF/KH self.  For instance:

~*~Yuna~*~

The wind tousled Cynthia’s fine-brown locks as she strode down the sidewalk, humming a light tune to herself as she window-shopped.  This was one of her favorite pasttimes, mostly because it reminded her of . . . .

So, basically, insert your character’s original name while using their Destiny Beach name in the body of your post.  This way everyone will be able to memorize who is who and spare a bit of confusion and referencing to the character chart below.

Another note would be to please ensure you read every post before posting, especially posts made by me because I will be directing the plot as well as including your characters in events.

Now then, here is our cast for your reference:

And now, let’s . . . GO!

It is another late afternoon on Destiny Beach.  The sun is high in the sky, its rays falling heavily on the seaside town in Florida.  The weather is warm as it normally is in May, yet not too hot making days on the beach picture perfect.  You go about your daily routine as per usual, in a life which, for all the world, seems that you’ve always lived.  You’ve forgotten who you really are, and where you’re really from.  You’ve forgotten that magic, a mere legend and myth in this world, was real where you came from.  You don’t remember that you fought the people who are now your neighbors and teachers.  And, worse yet, you don’t realize that evil and danger is right in front of your very nose, ready to strike and rip all normalcy and happiness that exists in your lives.

Of course you don’t realize.  That is what the curse has done to you.  And, unless the curse is broken, you’ll never know . . . until it is too late.

You have access to everything on Destiny Beach.  There is a shopping mall, a Wal-Mart and Target, a Starbucks Coffee, and one inn run by two young women.   The FBI office exists alongside a police station, and there are also a number of restaurants in like.  There is one apartment complex called Beach and Sunset Apartments where many residents reside, as well as many homes scattered along Destiny Beach.  Cars are present, of course, but in this small town no one has much use for them.  There is one school and one small community college.  Along the beach there are many places to surf, swim, sunbathe, and buy hot dogs.

Yes, you may visit anything on the beach, but there is a catch: no one that leaves Destiny Beach ever, ever comes back.  It is not advised that you leave, for your fate is ill if you so choose this path.

For students, including Lukas, Flint, and Aeria, another day at school has just ended, and it is a Thursday.  Only one more day until the weekend.  Inside the school, Aron and Kievan are now freed up from their teaching duties, having completed their final bit of organization before calling it a day.

There is a meeting for the members of the orphan charity, an organization called Hearts 4 Lives, at Rachel’s apartment in an hour.  There she is getting ready for any or all of those who wish to attend the meeting.

Some jobs are ending while others are starting.  You are in any of the locations listed above.  What you choose to do is entirely your choice, yet the outcome, if left as-is, will remain the same.

Sophia smiled upon seeing Iris come up to greet her. If feels like it's been so long since seeing everybody due to work, she felt almost like a stranger.

"Oh! Hello Iris. It's a pleasure to see you again. I made sure I had enough time to come. Terrence is going to take the heat for me tonight so I can come. How have you been?" She was going to say more until the door was answered and she was invited inside. Nervous on the inside, Sophia entered the apartment and looked at everyone. If didn't look like she was late, which was great.

"Hey everyone!" She said happily. She noticed Rachel nearby and went straight to her. She was quite fond on Rachel and loved talking to her. With a smile, Sophia went right over. "I'm so happy to see you Rachel! I hope I'm not late."

-Roxas-

Meanwhile Lukas was going to reach out his hand to stop Aeria, but decided not to. His relationship with her was somewhat strained. Lukas sometimes speculated it was because Aeria knew about his crush on her, although he wouldn't be shocked because it was somewhat obvious. He kept looking at the new money in his pocket. The day wasn't so terrible after all.

"Thank you, Tiffany." Lukas said with a small smile. He was happy to know at least he had a lot of people in town that cared about him. He drank some more of his water and looked back to Flint.

"Thank you so much, dude. There has to be some way I could make it up to you."

(Finally replying, i apologize for taking so long, it was honestly unexcusable and i'll make an effort to post here at least once a day or every couple of days)

Man, i wish we would've had more staff here to help out. It gets boring when you're on standby for 5 hours straight. Alex was leaning on the counter in Gamestop, his elbow supporting his weight while he waited for anyone to make any purchases. Good news is hopefully in another hour i should be free to go off and go to that Charity. What was the name...happy hearts for life or something?

~Noel~

Mike walked over to the doors to the building where the charity was being held, arriving late due to just coming out from Football Practice and having taken a shower in the Locker Rooms. He looked inside and was tempted to walk inside seeing it was open, but he decided on being polite and knocked on the doors. "Hello? Is anyone in here? This is the place where that charity is, right?"

Ultimecia extended a finger and stroked Eclair's chin, fingernail digging into her flesh uncomfortably.  "So this is how you spend your time and intermingle with them.  Fascinating.  I always wondered how you did it so flawlessly and knew everything that was going on."  The tall woman straightened herself.  Even though she wore a fitted black business skirt and blouse, she still appeared to be unworldly and intimidating.  "You were supposed to come to me yesternight and tell me what you found out after spying on Aerith.  Does she know where they're keeping Ventus?  Do any of those goons know?"

Upon Sid's response Kievan made a face, pulling out two $100 bills and cramming them into his greasy work hand.  "Consider this a down payment, and the rest will be paid upon your inspection and your silence.  I don't want that rose-haired FBI agent budding her nose into this, got it?"  The science teacher made his way to his car and opened the passenger door, gesturing to Sid.  "Get in.  We're going to the coast to inspect an interesting bit of machinery I found.  I'm hoping that you can identify it for me, or, perhaps even get it to start up again."

Skyar left the diner post-haste, speeding down the road as fast as he safely could without colliding into signs and turning vehicles.  Of course the brunet always drove fast, but he was already running rather late for the charity at Rachel's house and they typically didn't hold up meetings for members, not even important ones such as himself (or at least he thought himself important).

Finally he parked his car in the lot, rushing up to the buildings and taking the steps two at a time.  Outside of her apartment he encountered Mike, a professional football player who he loved to buddy with.  "Hey, Mike!"  Skylar called out, striding toward him and Rachel's apartment.  "How's it going?  Haven't seen you in a while.  Been super busy with the games?"

Before he could proceed to discuss more with him the door to Rachel's apartment opened, granting entry to the two latecomers.

Iris smiled and nodded toward Sophia.  "Yes, it really is a pleasure, and I'm very happy that Terrence covered for you.  You know, I do believe that young man is rather crazy about you."  The young woman giggled as she made her way into the apartment, immediately greeted by a number of people.  Being the president of the organization meant knowing everybody, something that Iris took great pride in.  However, there were a number of new faces that she had yet to meet, including Allen and Nicole.  Nicole rose to greet Iris, to which Iris responded with a handshake.  "It's very nice to meet you, Nicole, and welcome to Hearts 4 Souls.  It's truly a pleasure to have you amongst us and I hope that you will find the work rewarding.  I have heard of Social Butterflies and it is a wonderful function. I commend you for all of your hard work and dedication."

The brown-haired woman then turned to Allen, who remained sitting on the couch.  "And you must be new.  Well, allow me to introduce myself.  I'm Iris Kingsley, the founder of Hearts 4 Souls.  What might your name be?"

As Iris greeted the group at large, Rachel opened the door wider to grant entry to Skylar and Mike.  "Guys, you're almost late!" she hissed.  "Is anyone else coming?"

He looked over his shoulder to see his friend Skylar calling out and walking towards him, but Rachel opened the door for the two as he was about to, and he turned to face her. "Hey Rachel! Sorry I showed up late, football practice kept me up. I don't know if anyone is coming though, for the moment it's just me. Assuming Skylar's also here for the charity, maybe?" He turned over to his friend in question.

Tina smiled when Iris came in. She said nothing, as she was apt to do, but she was glad that their leader was here. The Innkeeper gave a slight wave and nod towards Iris as she worked on greeting and meeting everyone else. Tina took a sip of her water as she glanced around the apartment. They had quite the amount of people here today. Mike and Skylar were just getting in, and besides them there were six or seven of them. Tina wondered when the group had gained so many members. That's not to say that she didn't like that fact, she just felt like a lot of things were going on recently, and she was a little left behind. Tina wondered when the world had sped up.

Terrence nodded at Aron's words. "Yeah, Maverick's been like that... for a while." Terrence said, sighing. He seemed exasperated by the kid's constant trouble-making. It was constant and a big problem. Even arresting him didn't help things, it just delayed the next time he did something wrong. Terrence closed his eyes for a second. "Well teach," The Sheriff said, rubbing the back of his hair. "Please give me a heads-up if anything gets really serious. And I trust that you help out Lukas as much as you can? I couldn't tell you why, but that kid feels distantly close to me if that makes any sense." Terrence said, his tone rather serious and troubled. He glanced at the time. He still had time. Hopefully he'd get to Sid's with some time to spare, even after this stop.

~Vanitas~

Having been halted by the duo, Maverick picked up his skateboard and narrowed his eyes. He was clearly surrounded with no way of escaping within this dark alley and he was sure that the two men were much stronger than he was physically. However, after Maverick heard the name Trent Malone followed by the name 'Ventus', he knew something had was very wrong. There were people besides himself that knew of the other world from which they had originally come from. Thinking on his feet, Vanitas smiled as he came up with a plan.

"Ventus? That's quite a strange name to be heard in a city like this. Isn't that Latin or something? Anyway~... Who wants to know what my name is? I figured that the people who are clearly stopping me from escaping should be able to prove to me that they're trustworthy before I give them information. So talk, who are you and why are you looking for this 'Ventus' character?"

The dark haired boy took another look at his interceptors, getting the feeling that he had possibly seen them before, but couldn't put any names to their faces. Perhaps he was not completely immune to the curse after all.

~Riku~

Flint sighed heavily as Aeria left with Zach, feeling as if the girl really didn't want his and Lukas' help dealing with Maverick despite her saying otherwise. With a laid back and slightly exasperated expression on his face, Flint took another swig from his drink as he looked over at Lukas who was trying to think of a way to repay him.

"Forget about it Lukas. If you want to make it up to me, then stand up to Maverick the next time he shows up. I know that he's really overbearing and you might even be a little afraid of him. But, if he keeps seeing that weakness in you and continues pushing you around, you won't be able to help Aeria get away from him."

Slouching in his seat, the silver haired teen looked out at the rest of the diner, seeing the many customers come and go. Something about this normality seemed off to Flint, it always had. Even though he was happy, he always wanted more out of his life.

"This world... Don't you think it's a little small?"

~Tidus~

Allen smiled as he was greeted by Iris, standing up in order to seem polite.

"I'm Allen. Allen Marlow. It's nice to meet you Iris."

The young blonde looked over Iris, trying to figure out what kind of person would organize such an event as this. Scratching the back of his head with a chuckle, Allen looked off into the distance.

"Well, I'm not entirely sure why I'm here and I don't know how I can help. But I'm here to help, so I'll make sure to do my best."

Looking around, Allen found that there were quite a number of people at the apartment now and there were still a number of people that he was quite unfamiliar with.

"I don't really know anyone here besides Nicole and Rachel, so it's nice to be able to meet so many new people. I've been told by Rachel that they're all very nice people though. So... exactly what are we supposed to do here?"

{Eclair}

Eclair's reaction to Ultimecia's touch was more of annoyance then fear.

"Really?" She said. "You want to get into this now? Here? Well, here you go. I haven't heard a whisper about Venny. Ya happy?"

Of course, Eclair wasn't going to tell the sorceress that she hadn't been keeping an eye on Aerith, but she wasn't concerned. Everyone here was caught up in their new little lives. They wouldn't snap out of it that easy.

{Balthier}

Sid checked the money in the light for the water marks to annoy Kievan and buy time. Machinery, eh? What was so mysterious that Kievan couldn't identify it, but didn't want the FBI to know.

"You know me and Elysia." Sid said as he tucked the money away in his pocket, then smiled. "We get along like a house on fire."

He took a minute to grab a tool box, then close and lock up his shop, leaving an "Out To Lunch" sign on the door. He put the tools on the floor of the science teacher's car before sliding in himself.

"So, do I at least get a few more details, or is this going to turn into a surprise party?" Sid asked as he closed the car door.

Sophia blushed instantly after the comment Iris made about Terrence. She didn't truly know how she felt about him relationship wise, especially since they knew each other for so long. Sophia would never imagine Terrence being in love with her.

"O-Oh no." Sophia said as she waved her hands in front of her. He would never... Really? You really think so?" Before she could get a response, Iris had already made her way inside. Sophia did also and smiled at all the people in the room. She loved seeing all these new and old faces. As everyone was talking amongst each other, Sophia decided to sit down on the couch. Sometimes she loved to be apart of the event. Other times she loved to sit back and watch the fun. The comment Iris made still lingered in her mind.

'Crazy... About me? That's impossible... He's such a brute sometimes though... He never shows any sort of romantic emotions...' She thought. '... He made a joke about curfew! Was he trying to hint at something?!'

-Roxas-

Lukas watched as Flint looked around and explained what he wanted. This caused Lukas to look down for a while. Could he really stand up to Maverick? Lukas would normally find it offensive whenever someone said he was afraid to do something, but Flint was right. He was afraid of Maverick. He didn't really know why. He was just afraid. He understood why Flint wanted him to stick up to Maverick. Especially for Aeria's sake. That may the only way she'll accept help from them.

"I'll.... I'll try okay?" Lukas asked as he fumbled with the strings of his hoodie. Flint then asked a question about the world being small.

"Well... I never left this town so I dunno. I guess... Well... This town is tiny. Ugh way too tiny. I would love to see what it's like outside. I just never had s reason to leave, I guess."

- Auron -

"I know, I am the unfortunate soul who has to teach him, wherever he comes to school anyway" Aron said with a chuckle, he didn't like having to teach Maverick, he wouldnt stay silent during lectures, he would cause trouble even in the middle of class, it was annoying, and plus the constant bullying over the other students did make him concerned, "I will try, if Maverick is to stop this grudge with Lukas, means Lukas is gonna have to stand up to him, I'l talk to him, as soon as I see him" Aron told The Sheriff, he looked at his watch, and didn't really care much, he had plenty of time to get to the diner, "Im heading to the Diner right now, want to come too?" Aron asked with a chuckle.

(Time for some action!)

In the streets of Destiny Beach . . . .

The two police officers stared at Maverick, expressions blank.  Finally the redhead--seeming to be the brains of the duo--whipped out a wallet and flickered something in the dark to Vanitas.  "Agent Rupert Red with the police department," he said smoothy.  "I have been sent here looking for a boy who is rather disturbed and a danger to society if left to roam the streets.  It is for your safety that we, ah, collect him."  The bald, larger man was busily staring up and down the streets, particularly behind them.  When Red turned around to get his partner's attention, however, the large man shook his head and adjusted his sunglasses.  "Anyway, it would be in your best interests to tell us everything you know, kid.  Even if you're not Ventus, he is a threat which must be stopped.  Otherwise--"

The bald man kicked some street trash to the side, letting out a long sigh before cutting into Red's statement.  "He'll take away whatever happiness we know.  Or so we're told."

Meanwhile, as Terrence and Aron have a little chat . . . .

The sun had set, and all the light that remained was from a few street lamps surrounding them and the glow on the horizon.  Moments after Aron invited Terrence to the diner, the street lamps began to flicker out one at a time, eventually leaving them in darkness.  Their faces were barely visible to one another.  Suddenly a low growling is heard around them.  Turning around, behind Aron, stood five wolves, each baring long fangs and glowing red eyes.  Given their appearance, it looked as though they were in search of their next meal.  The wolf in front howled long, face pointed to the moon, before the pack charged directly for Aron.

Back in the diner . . . .

It was apparent by the look on Ultimecia's face that this wasn't what she wanted to hear.  The woman pursed her red lips, abruptly removing her hand from Eclair's chin.  "I'm very disappointed, Eclair.  I've promised you your freedom, riches, and, eventually, a part in ruling the universe alongside me.  In return all I asked was for results, which you are failing miserably to provide.  I will not tolerate such failure forever.  Believe me on this, Lumina.  If they figure it out, and that boy gets any where near making the X-blade--"  Ultimecia's voice broke, her hands notably shaking.  Angrily she rose, her gaze never leaving the poor waitress.  "We will not be letting that happen."

The sorceress began making her way to the exit, watching the other customers with a look of disgust as she approached the door.  There she stopped, however, when she caught Roxas's eye.  For a moment the two stared at one another, her eyes boring heavily into his until, eventually, she whisked out the door ferociously and allowing it to slam behind her.

And, in Rachel's apartment . . . .

Everyone was discussing many things amongst themselves and with Iris.  While not everyone managed to make it on time, it was well past the hour designated for the meeting, and thus Iris made her way to the center of the room to begin her speech.  She offered the group at large a warm smile before speaking.  "Hello, everyone, and welcome!  I want to thank all of you for being here today, as well as thank Rachel ever so kindly for allowing this meeting to take place at her apartment.  It is wonderful to see all of your familiar faces to return, and equally as marvelous to see all those new faces whom I've never met.  Today we also have a special guest: Nicole with Social Butterflies.  She has come here to help out, obviously, but also represents her company.  Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to help us, Nicole.  I, as well as all of the many children we aid, are grateful.

"Now, there are a few things that I want to go over with everyone.  Some of which you may already know, and other things that only Seraphim knows because of her connections with the FBI.  There is a boy in the group home named Trent Malone who has gone missing"--mutters escaped many lips upon her brief silence--"however, Trent is no ordinary boy.  He is in a comatose and has been this way ever since he arrived.  His condition isn't critical.  In fact, many wonder why he hasn't awoken since his body seems to function just fine.  This is why it is so strange that Trent has suddenly gone missing.  Someone must've been working to break him out, and this is what concerns me most.  I wish to plead with all of you to help me in finding the boy."

Breaking the conversation came a light knock on Rachel's door.  The redhead raised an eyebrow, surprised, before Iris nodded in recognition.  "Also, ladies and gentlemen, there is someone that I would like you to meet.  He is brand new to Destiny Beach, and has a rather interesting story."  At this, Iris extended a hand toward the newcomer who Rachel let in; a short, brown-haired boy with brilliant blue eyes, baggy red overalls, and bright-yellow shoes which looked far too large for anyone's feet.  "Everyone, meet Sora, the boy who I found outside the diner yesterday.  He says that he found his way here after having been imprisoned by a woman named Ultimecia alongside the northern edge of Florida, and wanted to come and warn us."

The brown-haired boy gulped nervously, looking at all of the faces with skepticism.  He took a slight step forward and said, in a quiet, small voice: "She's looking for Trent Malone and Maverick Vane to do something awful to them.  She said something about them taking away her happiness and that they must be stopped.  I guess I was apart of this somehow, because she locked me up, too.  Please believe me, guys: this woman is no ordinary lady.  I think . . . .  I think she's a witch."

(No, the curse isn't broken yet, as there is quite a quest to do so later, but I'm guessing Auron and Terra still have means to fight wolves, or at least make an escape. : ))

Aeria fell silent, not yet answering Zach.

"I understand. It's none of my business anyways. Listen, I've got to go back to the Inn anyhow. It's getting late, and there's a few things I need to take care of." The two walked into the GameStop together, greeted the man at the counter.

"Hey. This here is Aeria, and she's looking for a job. Care to give her one?" Zach walked out briefly after, not wanting to get in her way. The poor girl, she seemed troubled. Zachary didn't want to make anything worse. He picked out his self phone, and dialed for Elysia.

[...]

No answer. Zachary decided to leave a voice mail instead, his voice wavering a bit in each word. Zachary may not look like it, but he does care for everyone, even if they didn't care about him.

"Hey, Elysia...? It's Zachary. I called just to let you know that I walked Aeria to the Gamestop safely, but she was kind of silent. Please give her my best wishes when you pick her up later. Thanks." Zachary ended the voice mail, and continued to the Inn. The streets were beginning to empty... was something going on? Maybe it was merely because of how late it was getting. Perhaps the meeting had finally begun, and everyone was taken in.

Zachary pushed open the door to the Inn, and sat on the couch in the lobby, not too far from the service desk.

"Hey, Amber. Having a good day so far?"

~Fran~
At first, Nicole blushed with the mention of her name and title. It was an honor to be recognized like this. However, the meeting soon took a darker turn when the boy, Sora, had been introduced. A witch? That couldn't be possible... this child has obviously been neglected and subjected to unspeakable horrors. Not only had the boy seemed in trouble, but the mention of a missing comatose was also quite urgent... was there something she could do?

"Are you sure Trent had left, and wasn't taken?" Nicole took a deep breathe. This sounds like a case of Minor Human Trafficking... She thought to herself. After all, this woman was after Maverick and Trent, both young men, and this Sora had escaped from her... Not to mention the fact that Florida has many ports in which Trafficking can occur unnoticed. Nicole stepped up to the brunet boy, lowering her face to match with his.

"Please, tell us everything. What did they do to you? If it's too hard, I understand." She asked, almost too surely. You're supposed to be soft, care, and then ask questions... Not rush the boy!

"Are you alright?" She asked, ending her talking.

(So...is the curse broken? so can we fight back? xD)

(You're just lucky you happen to have the cop right next you lol)

"Nah, no time tonight. I gotta finish off this patrol, then go close up the station." Terrence explained. That's when the weird stuff began to happen. Lights flickering, shapes, eyes... When they started, Terrence nervously placed his fingers on the handle of his gun. But he didn't fully pull it out until the wolves were able to easily made out. After they howled, and when they started charging was when the Sheriff made an executive decision. He pointed the handgun and shot several times. He was a good shot, he didn't expect to miss hitting the beasts. But something was off about these animals in particular still... "Aron, I highly recommend you get inside the car about as fast as you can." Terrence said, his tone a very strained calm. The wolves were certainly not normal.

<Terra>

Tina said nothing throughout the reveal of Sora, and his story. Tina immediately assumed that he was lying but... something told her that she should take things a bit more seriously than that. Nicole was the first to react. That didn't surprise Tina, the woman tended to be at the forefront of a lot of things. Nicole also seemed more focused on Sora's safety as well as Trent's whereabouts. That's not to say Tina wasn't worried about those herself, but something rubbed her the wrong way. Sora had described the woman as a witch. And as obviously incorrect as that must be, simply calling someone a witch made Tina feel a little odd. Unwelcome in her own skin. She shook off the feeling and began listening intently once again.

Amber tossed her magazine to the side dramatically. "I am having a terrible day thank you very much!" She said in mock frustration. But she couldn't hold the grin in very well at all. "Nah, I'm fine. Just another day I guess. Work to do, food to eat, life to live. I'd like to say that working the front desk was cool, but since nobody actually came in, as usual, it was really just sitting in a special chair." Amber said, babbling a little bit. "And I haven't done anything exciting. I was thinking about going out once Tina came back, but I'm not feeling that anymore. Anyway, how was yours? I'm the interested employee after all, I think it's like, my job to listen to you talk. Not the other way around."

(Amen to that :D

- Auron -

"Alright" Aron said in a calm tone as he chatted with terrence, but then, the lights started flickering, which called his attention as he looked at them, but then quickly noticed the wolves, "What" a flat what was his reaction, he never saw wolves on this part of town before, hell, he never even saw wolves in town, not only that, but it seemed as if these wolves were different, very different. Aron put his arms forward in a desperate attempt to protect himsefl, as if trying to block the incoming attack, but thankfully, Terrence shot the wolf, managing to stun it a bit. Hearing Terrence's words, Aron didn't think twice, "You come too" he said, running to the car and entering in the passenger seat, it wasn't his car, closing the door behind him, hoping Terrence ran to the car as well.

(does everyone not know who Trent is or what he looks like? If so, that'll be really interesting especially since it'll rise suspicion in the town especially if people like Lukas or the workers at the group home or people like Sophia and Terrence don't remember ever seeing a Trent Malone.)

-Sophia-

Sophia was just about to clap for the announcement of Nicole before the newcomer had entered the room. She never seen such a lad before, and was somewhat shocked to not have been informed of such an event beforehand. Upon hearing such a story, Sophia frowned softly and put her hand over her mouth. "Maverick Vane..." She said. Maverick Vane often got himself into trouble, but not like this. She looked down at her cell phone which she took out of her pocket. This was something she should tell Terrence right away.

"I believe you." She said softly to Sora. "And as the representative and partner of the Sheriff, I promise you that no harm will come to you or them." She thought about what Nicole had said about Trent leaving. 'He's comatose...' Sophia thought. 'Why wouldn't he be in the hospital? And what does Iris mean by his body fully functioning?'

(Actually, that is kind of what I was thinking of.  No one really has met him, nor knows him, and there's only a record of his admittance to the group home without a date.  Also, Rikunobody, I'm sorry!  I forgot that Rikku made it to the charity meeting and forgot to include her.  I'll fix that.)

The wolf attack in the street:

A low howl sounded in the air from the wolf that Terrence shot.  It flew back against the road, on its side as blood pooled around him.  The other wolves didn't hesitate in attacking the vehicle.  One bounded at the passenger window that Aron was seated behind, clawing at the glass and baring its fangs.  Its glowing red eyes met Aron's, as though it could communicate through gaze alone.  Another wolf leapt on top of the car while yet another attacked the windshield, tearing off the windshield wipers in its fury.  In the street, however, the injured wolf was gone, and instead replaced by a young man with pale blond hair spiked in all different directions and unnatural turquoise-blue eyes.  His shoulder was apparently injured, as the pool of blood--his own blood--increased around him.  He extended a hand toward Terrence, his eyes pleading.  "I--I--"  And with that, the young man fell unconscious on the ground.

(Any guesses on who this is? : D)

Rachel's apartment (plus Aerith, Locke, Sora, and Vanille):

The small brown-haired boy turned to the few faces who spoke to him, eyes widening and looking slightly bewildered.  Dirt smudges were present on his cheeks, and the dark circles under his eyes indicated that he probably hadn't slept properly in days.  He turned to look back into Nicole's gaze, his eyes solemn and hard.  "I--I really don't remember all that happened.  I was kept in the dark most of the time.  Shadows were all around me.  It was mostly a young woman with pink hair that cared for me.  She was sympathetic and slightly cocky.  Her name was Lumina.  She was nice."  The boy scrunched up his face and brought a hand to his chin, as if struggling to remember more.  "I was in a room of what seemed to be a lighthouse, maybe.  It was very tall, that much I do know, with very few, if no, windows.  I only heard Ultimecia's voice, but never saw her face.  She said that two boys could take away everything from both Lumina and herself, and that they must be stopped.  She mentioned--well, this will sound crazy, but she mentioned another world."

Of course, no one would believe his story.  Why would they?  Some already looked at him like he was a crazed, helpless boy who had been abused and tortured.  And yet Sophia's kind face leapt out to him, and his heart skipped a beat when she said that she believed him.  As Sophia began to pull out her cell phone, however, Iris tensed.  "I understand that you're a police officer and that reporting is what you do," she began softly, "but I fear for the boy, if his appearance is traced to Destiny Beach.  I for one feel that Trent's disappearance and Sora's arrival are no coincidence, and it would seem that they enemy is both nearby as well as pretty strong.  While I don't know the details to everything, I don't want to underestimate this woman who kidnapped him.  So, Sophia . . . .  Please do as you must, but know that posters around the city and in the news stating that he's been found will only put up red flags for this woman." Iris didn't really want to tell Sophia not to share this information with her partner, but keeping the boy safe was amongst her first priorities.

Skylar shifted in his seat uncomfortably, closing his mouth that he hadn't realized opened throughout Sora's introduction and Iris's speech.  He glanced over at his friend, Mike, and wondered what his thoughts were on the matter.  He also struggled with the names provided.

Lumina and Ultimecia.

They sounded so familiar, and yet not . . . .  It was as if he'd heard the name before, and many times, but he just knew that he hadn't.  The brunet shook his head; it was a rather disturbing feeling trying to remember something which didn't exist.  Finally he looked over at the dirty boy briefly and then glanced at Iris.  "Uh, not to doubt either of you, but this case is . . . unique."  For lack of a better word.  Truthfully Skylar could hardly believe the boy and slightly wondered if he just ran away from his parents, but Iris believed him, and he believed in her.  Surely there must be some knowledge behind Iris's actions that Skylar wasn't yet aware, or so he hoped.

"I know that it's unique.  We've never had to deal with a case like it before.  And what I'm about to ask all of you is even greater.  You see, I feel that Sora is in danger if he goes to a group home, the inn, or even back to the station with Sophia.  What he needs is a temporary home, and I'm begging for all of us to work together and alternate sharing our living quarters, at least for a time until this is resolved."  Iris looked directly at Skylar while saying this, before shifting her gaze to Tina, Nicole, Allen, Tiffany, and the rest of the group at large.

~*~Kefka~*~

The science teacher sped in the direction of the beach.  The sun had fully set by then, so unfortunately they would have to observe this piece of machinery by flashlight.  This wasn't his favorite of ideas, but at least he could satisfy his curiosity and excitement at last.  He clutched the steering wheel, knuckles turning white.  "For once I'm glad that you have a rocky relationship, Sid, even though I mean you nothing ill.  Elysia is a nosy brat who thinks she can solve everything, especially whenever that daughter of hers is concerned."  He glanced over at Sid momentarily before shifting his eyes back to the road.  "As for this bit of machinery, let's just say that I think you will find it ultimately fascinating, as it's dated 3204, which is just a tad after 2015, wouldn't you say?  It reminds me heavily of a transformer, and, well, this may sound crazy, but I'm wondering how it got here, and if it could be from the future."

Finally they reached the coastline, which was relatively vacant except for a couple taking a romantic stroll and a group of teenagers goofing off along the waves.  Kievan wasted no time exiting the vehicle and marching off, down the beach quite a ways until they reached a small alcove of rock and sand.  The blond withdrew his cell phone from his pocket, turning on the flashlight to shine in the large opening.  Inside rested a massive suit of metal, looking indeed like a transformer only much smaller.  On top of it rested a cockpit where a person would sit, and inside were many, many controls.  It looked rusted and weathered, undoubtedly by the sea water, and Kievan walked up to it to show Sid the engraving along the side.  It read: Magitek Suit No. 569 © 3204.

"So," Kievan breathed, still in awe by his finding.  "What are your thoughts?"

~Fran~
Nicole backed away from the boy, feeling she had already overwhelmed him. A tower? It sure does sound like a Lighthouse... maybe her idea of Human Trafficking was wrong. Slavery? No, it would be a lot different than this. Either way, she felt a responsibility to the boy.

Nicole listened to Iris explaining the remaining of the situation. Perhaps she was right... keeping this between the group here was best. She wouldn't even tell Social Butterflies about this, it was too dangerous. She could possibly lose her job by keeping this information at bay... but she was okay with that. Lose a job and save a life, or keep a job and endanger three boys... the choice was obvious.

"I'm okay with this. I'll keep it a secret from Social Butterflies, for his protection. My home is always welcoming to more people, it's quite empty anyhow. It's just me there. It would be nice to have Sora here over a few days of the week at a time." Fran spoke up, gesturing to the boy.

"Are there any other precautions we need to take? I'll be on the look out for these people, Lumina and Ultimecia. If I hear anything, I'll contact you, Iris."

~Zidane~

"Sounds... boring." Zach commented, unbuttoning the top button on his shirt, allowing himself to breath a bit better. He slouched on the sofa, relaxing a bit from the walk. Sure, it wasn't a long walk, but it was quite stressing on his mind. He was worried for Aeria, but perhaps it was best to leave it alone for now. He stretched himself out on the sofa, resting his arm and back on the arm, laying the rest of himself on the seats.

"My day, so far, has been okay. Met this kid, a bit worried for her, but I'm sure she'll be alright. Her mom is keeping a close eye on her." He yawned a bit. He wasn't tired, he's only been awake since around noon... there was so much more for him to do! He had to work on I Want to be your Canary later, but perhaps he had more time to do that. Yes, he had all the time he needed. There was no deadline. He looked to Amber, smiling.

"You sure you're not up for a night on the town? The Nightlife of Destiny Beach is the best! Skylar and I used to go to bars on nights like this, get ourselves a bit tipsy, maybe sing a bit of karaoke. Any of that sound good to you?" Zachary took a second to think about who he was talking to. Sure, Amber and he had similarities, but perhaps she was not the kind to allow herself to get tipsy.

"Or perhaps I could take you for a walk under the moonlight? Nothing romantic, of course. Just a nice chat between two adults." He forced himself off of the sofa, and walked towards the service desk, resting his face in his arms upon it. "I know you have to wait for Tina. Perhaps we just have a dinner once she gets back, then?"

Zach really did consider himself the King of Tease... but he really wasn't. At all. He made things... PAINFULLY obvious sometimes.

Sophia smiled softly at Sora. She could tell Sora was happy to hear that she believed him. Even after the part of the kidnapper mentioning another world, she still believed him. After years of working for the police and helping children, she learned that strange things happen. Sure, this sounds outrageous, but she wasn't afraid to keep a open mind especially if it meant Sora would trust her. "I still believe you, sweetie." Sophia said with a smile. She was going to inform Terrence, but after Iris spoke she put her phone away with a frown. "Alright... Can you tell him later Iris? Terrence is really strong, and he'll be a great help to protect Sora." Upon hearing Iris' plan, Sophia right away offered to help. She usually was one of the first to volunteer for anything especially if it meant to help children.

"He could stay at my house, too. Tonight even." She looked to Sora and thought that he should decide. "Whatever you want to do, Sora." She had an aura about her, one that was warm and welcoming.

<Terra>

What was that? The poor boy was in need of a place to stay? Tina smiled when she thought of all the empty rooms of her inn. She raised her hand politely before speaking. "Nicole and Sophia, I'm sure your generosity is appreciated by Sora, but I think I might have a bit more space. What do you say Sora? You'll have your own suite, meals are always available, and I know that Amber would love to have another guest. She's practically a child, I'm sure you'd get along quite well." Tina offerred the victimized boy. She felt a little bad, shooting down her friend's offers like that, but then she remembered that she was helping them out. After all, what would they do with him when it was time for work? Fortunately, Tina worked where he would be staying.

Terrence blinked a few times when he saw the wolf become a young man, probably about his age. And the guy was injured, from a gun shot. Terrence was really really confused. The wolves were completely ignoring him fortunately, instead continuing to chase after Aron. Maybe they were just hallucinating? These wolves were actually people, and they were just a victim of a group delusion? It would make sense. After all, that would explain the poor guy who just met Terrence's bullet under rather unfortunate circumstances. Thinking quickly, Terrence tossed the gun into Aron's lap. "Don't shoot the wolves if you can, but try and scare them off with the sound of the gun." The Sheriff advised. Terrence grabbed the passed out man, and hefted him over his shoulder like a fireman. He carried him over to the backseat of the police cruiser. Terrence dumped his body onto the seat and slammed the door shut before quickly getting into the driver's door. He began to get the car started.

Amber smiled wholeheartedly towards Zach and his flirts. Everyone knew that you shouldn't take a flirt from Zach seriously, but something seemed a little bit different about these proposals than the off-handed compliments he gave most everybody else. She ruffled his hair while rubbing her chin like she was a wise man thinking about the offers. "Hmmmm... I don't know... I'm technically still underage after all. What kind of dinner are you offering me?" She asked him.

Meanwhile the wolves were still trying to get him, one clawing at the door's window, and the other in the windshield, he couldnt help but notice the wolf Terrence shot turn into a blonde young man, "What" Aron said in reaction, as he was quickly given a gun by terrence, he frowned at the order given by Terrence, as he didnt exactly know how to really use a gun, although he had a few firing classes for entertainment. "If you say so" Aron said as he quickly opened the door and kicked it, hopefully knocking the wolf that was clawing at it back, quickly closing it again and opening the window, and firing four times into the air, hopefully to scare them off.

~Zidane~ "Hmm..." Zachary let out some unknown noises as his hair was being ruffled. Sometimes he left like he was part dog, because this was something he enjoyed a lot. He closed his eyes, smiling, enjoying the feeling of fingers brushing through his blond hair. Amber mentioned the dinner, and Zach opened his eyes, readjusting himself on the counter. "I was thinking some place special, like Harryhausen's..." Zachary took a moment to realize that it was almost impossible to get a reservation there, especially for an hour ahead of time. Briefly he had an idea for a place called Serendipity, but taking someone to a Casino isn't really a date. That's when he got an idea. An awful idea. A wonderful idea. Zach got a wonderful, awful idea. "Actually, I know the perfect place. Come meet me by the Apartment area after you get off work. I'll walk you there!" Zach smiled, pushing himself off the counter. "I think you'll really like it." He walked out the door, already ready to head to this special area of his. As soon as he took a step out, however, he heard a gun shot.

"Huh?" Zachary started dashing towards the sound, down allies, crossing streets... that's when he saw them. A pack of wolves, attacking two people. He could recognize Terrance almost immediately, but the other, he hadn't known. There was also a third, laying on the street, bleeding. Terrance carried him into the car, and the other started shooting into the air. Zach assumed he was trying to scare off the wolves. He wasn't sure if they were trying to help the shot man, or kidnapping him. Either way, the wolves stood as a problem. Although with Terrance there, he severely doubted it was a kidnapping. Then again... there are all kinds of secrets in this town. Still, he thought best that to get the wolves out of the way first. Zachary ran up to the ally where they stood, and began shouting. "HEY, MUTTS! COME AND GET ME!" Zach started waving and taunting, attempting to get the wolves attention.

The raven-hiared girl stepped up to the manager. "H-hello? I-I'm A-Aeria, and...and I was looking for a job!"

-Lightning-

She got out of her car and slid near the wall. Frowning, she slid her badge from her pocket, and then drew her gun. Keeping it to the side, Elysia stepped around the corner, the wind catching her rose hair movie-style."FBI! What's going on and why are you harassing this young prick, who I have far more right to harass?"

-Seven-

The woman was utterly confused to what the hell was going on.

"Okay, hold up. So, Ultemica or whoever is a witch who held you captive. Trent is involved somehow, as is someone who sounds extremely close to Elcair from the diner. Now..." She stood up, her coat riding over her badge. "I'm trained for this, but you're telling me to believe...in witchcraft? I'm sorry, but I need proof. Some form of proof." She rubbed her forehead. "I want to help, and I will, but I can't exactly put in everything without proof."

In the dimly lit alleyways, when Elysia encounters the "police officers" . . . .

Officer Red turned from Maverick and looked over at Elysia in surprise.  A look of panic flashed across his face, and for a moment he began to make a motion as if to flee.  The tall bald man, however, held his ground, looking confident and calmly turned to face Elysia. Even in the dim lighting the man wore sunglasses, curiously.  "Ah, FBI.  So it would seem that you have coinciding interests.  We have been instructed to take this young man in for questioning due to some, ah, illegal activities, but since you have been appointed here"--his eyes briefly flitted to her gun before returning to her gaze--"we will not stand in your way.  All that we require, ma'am, is your name."

The expressions of the two officers didn't bear much similarity.  Officer Red gritted his teeth and shot his partner a look, but seemed to swallow his words before turning back to Elysia. "Unless, of course, you would care to leave this case with the police.  We'll see to it that he receives a fair word from the Sheriff before executing any charges."

It was probably curious to Maverick that Red and the other man altered their story.  They were demanding information regarding a Trent Malone or "Ventus," yet didn't say anything about questioning Maverick about any illegal activities of his.  Either they were leading him on so they could arrest him once and for all, or they were clearly trying to lie to Elysia to cover their own tails.  It was difficult to say.

Back in the streets during the wolf attack . . . .

The gunshots sounding in the air from Aron made the wolves leap back in surprise.  They howled, as if wounded themselves, and took several moments to pace the street, observing Aron through glowing red eyes.  The wolf on the windshield still tried to break through, leaping on the mirror of the passenger door and clawing at the open window toward Aron.  The sound of Zach's voice, however, arrested their attention.  They all froze, became stock-still, and searched for the source of the voice.  Not far Zach could be seen, waving his arms, and crying for their attention.  As if debating whether to pursue the current attack or prey upon fresh meat, the wolves remained stock still, but only for a moment before they leapt up and bounded toward Zach.  They bared their teeth and claws, one racing up and preparing to strike.

In the backseat of the car, the blond young man moaned.  Blood stained the backseat of the sheriff's car as it pooled from his shoulder and onto it.  He tried to sit but fell back with a slightly yelp.  "What--what just happened?" he muttered, voice hardly audible from where Aron and Terrence were.  "Where am I?"

Back in Rachel's apartment, where the charity is commencing . . . .

A warm smile played against Iris's lips upon all of the gracious volunteers.  "Thank you all so much for your support, kind words, and help.  I am sure that we will come up with a solution to this problem, and hopefully be able to save all three boys from this woman Sora speaks of.  It is hard to believe everything, I know, since"--she hesitated, as if searching for the right words--"much of this seems to be myth rather than truth.  What we do know, however, is that someone out there has ill intentions for these boys, and it seems that she has resources beyond those of your average kidnapper.  I think it will be safest if Sora alternates homes with all of you volunteers, but I will leave that decision up to you and, ultimately, Sora."

The brunet looked up at her in alarm, to which she smiled and nodded.  This was a massive decision that the boy was encountering.  He turned to each of the kind faces in turn, amazed that all of them would be so gracious as to offer up their homes to help him, a complete stranger and potential liar.  After a moment's consideration, Sora walked up to Sophia and looked down.  It took a moment for him to compose himself and meet her gaze again.  "Miss, um, if it would be okay . . . .  Could I stay with you?"  Perhaps it was her sincere belief in his story, but he felt very safe with Sophia.  "But gee, thank you so much, everybody . . . .  You all are so kind."

At this Rachel stood up, grabbing the tray of freshly baked cookies and passing them around to the group.  She turned a glance at Sora from over her shoulder and smiled.  "But of course!  We only want to help."  Maybe she too didn't fully believe the boy, but she did think he had been through something traumatic, and that it was their job to aid him if possible.

Kievan's blue eyes sparkled in the dimness of the maglite.  He watched as Sid studied the piece of machinery with curiosity, mildly surprised yet not by the man's response.  At least he wasn't denying the machine's existence, that was a start.  While Kievan wasn't sure that he agreed with Sid's reasoning, he listened considerately before shaking his head.  "First, if it was a movie prop I don't think it would be here, rusting, in a cove off the coast line, so we're in concord here.  And I suppose the numbering could be something other than a year, but what are the odds?"  The science teacher strode over and rested a hand against the cool metal.  "Suppose that it is from the year 3204.  How do you think it could've gotten here?  This would open up so many possibilities, Sid!  It means that someone has come up with a way to transport things from the future, which could probably mean that we could enter the past!  The world would be filled with so many possibilities, perhaps even immortality."  He began to get that manic look in his eye, as if a scientist was all too happy with his experiment that nothing in the world mattered except for his finding.  Finally he managed to get a grip and fix his gaze on Sid.  "I want us to work on this together.  To be partners.  Make this 'our little project.'  You are a fine mechanic, the very best I know, and with your extensive knowledge and research and my experiments and scientific background I'm sure that we can open the door to so many of the world's mysteries."

Finally he hesitated, considering Sid's final question.  "How I found it is irrelevant.  The point is that it's here, and that I was the one graced to find it.  You should feel lucky that I have shown it to you, because I could've easily kept the entire discovery and glory to myself."

Truthfully, he couldn't have kept it to himself, because, despite being a scientist, he didn't have the knowledge he needed to learn more about this machine.  He needed Sid, as much as he refused to admit it.
