June 1, 201510 yr I agree with all of this. I'll admit, I am a huge fanboy of the Kingdom Hearts and Ace Attorney franchises. They have nearly consistently always met or exceeded my expectations on almost every level. So, when I see people who dislike those franchises, or call out certain aspects, sometimes I get unjustifiably livid. It's not fair or mature, but that's my knee-jerk reaction. It's not right, though. Edited June 1, 201510 yr by Kaweebo

It's not right, though. I understand what you mean. I once got really annoyed at someone because they just wanted KH3 and were tired of all terrible side stories they were making (the guy hadn't even played them). The Kingdom Hearts series really is the only series that gets me worked up when people slate it unfairly.
June 1, 201510 yr I'm not behind that whole "companies bending-over backwards" tidbit. Seems a bit arrogant and self-entitled to me. Everything else was pretty on-point though.
June 1, 201510 yr I'm with Firaga about that whole "companies should cater to my every whim blah blah blah" mini-rant, but everything else was very agreeable. I love how he used Kingdom Hearts as an example for that last point, too. I've been given a ton of crap for simply saying I like Kingdom Hearts I over the second. I never say anything bad about the second aside from some reasons as to why I hold that opinion (and even those were some small issues), but I'm treated as though I said it's a horrible game. The Kingdom Hearts fanbase is definitely the best example of his last point there. I can admit even games that I love to death have a few issues. Does that hinder my enjoyment of them? No, not really. I still won't claim they're perfect, though. Even Xenoblade isn't absolutely perfect, but it's still my favorite game of all freaking time. I wish people could realize that you can still criticize something that you like. After all, nothing can be 100% perfect.

Maybe but there is some truth to this statement,at the end of the day it's a hobby for us consumers not a necessity to keep us alive,so when a publisher pisses us off we have the right to tell them they f***ed up and they should fix the mistakes they made, otherwise either we move to someone else or change hobby altogether which would mean less money for them

It kind of makes you look like, well, a spoiled brat. Look, I'm not trying to glorify the ethics of a bunch of companies who put business above everything else, but that's kind of what all companies are supposed to doing. Making money. Not every person on the planet is going to be invested in what they're selling, and quite frankly, that's a fact. Even a game that is widely commended for its gameplay and/or other features is going to have that one guy who says, "Nah, that game sucks." And I'm not saying this about practices like on-disc DLC (though there are some misconceptions in that area sometimes *coughXenoversecough*), micro-transactions, rushed production leading to buggy/unplayability, general dissonance between fanbases and franchises due to stuff like the recent actions of Konami, or anything like that, because that stuff is worth complaining about. However, if I were to say something like "Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories is a fine addition to the Kingdom Hearts franchise," despite various claims by other fans saying the opposite, it's not because I'm a "fanboy" of the franchise and expect every title to be good, it's because I genuinely enjoyed a lot of the aspects of the game and it's more than enough to make up for the flaws that are actually present, and quite frankly, I don't appreciate people talking shit about it otherwise. Not because it makes the game look bad, but it makes me feel bad for liking it, which is a huge no-no in my book. Edited June 2, 201510 yr by Firaga Sensei
June 2, 201510 yr I agree with the majority of this. I used to be a fanboy and then I started to become more of a person who just loved video games in general. I used to think that being a completionist was the only way to be a gamer but now I just promote playing video games in general and don't argue much over what people say about series because I realized that everyone has their own opinion. The only thing that really rustles my jimmies is when people trash talk games they haven't even played. I can't complain enough about times I've been judged because I play KH and Pokemon and people consider them to be kids games and haven't even played them. That really gets me
June 2, 201510 yr various levels of hilarious seeing kh13 talk about not being a fanboyBecause we're clearly all Kingdom Hearts fanboys/fangirls here...

June 2, 201510 yr I guess if you signed up to a website all about news on Kingdom Hearts and discussing Kingdom Hearts, you can't actually like Kingdom Hearts...

Well they key here is to obtain the balance that still makes you in the fan category and far away from the fanboy one While I'm a huge fan of Nintendo,Atlus,WayForward and Namco, that doesn't mean I can't call them on their bullshit when they firetruck up(FREAKIN SHORTAGE OF AMIIBO STOCKS UGHHHHH),but at the same time I'll applaud them when they do something right

I just don't think I should put in the "fanboy" category based on the example I gave.
