Regarding that blue keyblade...

Posted

You know the blue keyblade Sora used throughout the trailer?

Well, I was thinking, what if that's his new permeant keyblade?

Similar to how Terra and Aqua got their "ultimate keyblade" possibly because they became masters (Well, Aqua anyways.)

Do you think Sora gets master status earlier in the game and gets his "ultimate keyblade"

They said Tangled was the first world you visit I believe, or it could be like you have options in KH2. I don't think they'd give a new keyblade before clearing your first world though.

I get that Star Seeker was obtained early in the game, but I don't think it has relation with this though. I also know that he's shown was his kingdom key in artwork for his new costume, but they had Terra and Aqua with their ultimate keyblade a first too, so you never know.

What do you guys think? I hope so as I found this keyblade to be gorgeous as it seems to be a mix of Brightcrest and Star Seeker. Beautiful.

Well, this isn't how the final product will look, so for all we know, that Keyblade was there for the sake of being there.  But then again, who knows?  You could be on to something!  If Riku, Terra, Aqua and Ventus each got a beefed up version of their starter Keyblades, then what's to say that this new Keyblade Sora's wielding in this trailer is his beefed up version of the Kingdom Key?  It's like Ventus's Lost Memory, which doesn't bear resemblance to Wayward Wind, but is a beefed up version of it. Who knows what it all means? :3

I honestly doubt it. The Kingdom Key has been Sora's main through all his adventures, so it's come to be very symbolic of Sora and the Realm of Light. To change it now of all times would be insane.

No, Sora still has his Kingdom Key, the Kingdom Hearts Spotlight showed rendered art of Sora in his new outfit while holding the Kingdom Key. They were only using that Keyblade to show off the design and all the crazy moves you  can do with it. If you pay more attention to the trailer, you'll notice that Sora actually uses many different Keyblades in that trailer than just the blue one. There's a more lightning colored one when he summons the Pegasus chariot thingy, and there's also a white looking Keyblade too. The blue one just got more screen time. Basically this trailer was just showing off a bunch of stuff, the new Keyblades being one of them. If anything though, I'm speculating that each Keyblade may give Sora access to different Keyblade transformations, like how the blue one so far has been used for the shooting transformations and how that lightningy one was used to summon a facsimile Pegasus. I'm just happy that Sora get's access to so many Keyblades and powers but still has the option of sticking with his Kingdom Key, cause I keep getting so annoyed by everybody speculating that Sora is going to get a "true" Keyblade and that the Kingdom Key isn't "his". Here's how it is: the Kingdom Key may not have originally been meant for Sora, but it soon recognized Sora as being more worthy than it's original recipient, Riku, at the time. Once Sora proved himself, you could say a pact was made, that Keyblade belongs to him and no one else now. Even in Dream Drop Distance, Riku was only borrowing it. So there is no reason at all why SORA'S Kingdom Key should be replaced by anything else as his one true Keyblade. However, I would like to see the Kingdom Key naturally evolve like how Terra and Aqua's Keyblades have done, a more advanced looking Kingdom Key would be BAD-ASS to see!

Well actually Lost Memory wasn't a "beefed up" version of Wayward Wind, it was just a more ultimate Keyblade that he gets. Terra and Aqua both get what I call "Master class" Keyblades, where they largely resemble their original forms (Earthshaker and Rainfell) but are more intricate and advanced looking. Those would be the Ends of The Earth and Stormfall Keyblades. Now the Keyblades both Terra and Aqua get later, Chaos Ripper and Brightcrest, they are more of what I would call "Ultimate" class Keyblades, where they are significantly more boosted in stats than the Master class but they are more based off of the characters' personalities and story up to that point. Ventus get's an Ultimate class Keyblade as well, the Lost Memory Keyblade, and it also represents who he is and his path as well. Chaos Ripper displays Terra's path towards strength but also his inevitable fall to Darkness, Aqua's Brightcrest represents her undying Light and her strong will and friendship with Terra and Ven, and Ventus' Lost Memory represents his separation from Vanitas and how he is now aware of how there is a piece of him missing that he will eventually have to face again. Ventus has his Ultimate class, but he curiously doesn't get a Master class. This is most likely because in order to get that kind of a Keyblade you need to be at or near the level of a Master. Aqua was a Master already, so it's natural that she got a Master class Keyblade. But what about Terra? He was never officially named a Master. Well he was at the same skill level as Aqua, and the only thing that really prevented him from obtaining the rank in the first place was Xehanort's meddling. So through skill alone Terra had the status of Master even without being properly named one by Master Eraqus. So, since Ven hasn't reached that point in his training yet, he doesn't have the power or skill necessary to be considered a Master, so naturally he didn't reach the point where he could have gotten a Master class Keyblade yet. However, the Ultimate class doesn't seem to be constrained by title, as it is meant to represent the character's self near the end of each of their stories, so that's why Ven is able to have a Lost Memory but not an upgraded form of Wayward Wind. Keep in mind that this is all just conjecture though, as Nomura will likely answer this if he ever believes it to be a point of key interest or a commonly asked question among fans.

Kingdom Key is still going to be Sora's starting keyblade. This new keyblade could be his main throughout the game, but he will still start off with kingdom key
